Hp Laptops Computers Networking Questions asked
Open Question: Why can't i connect to the internet?
I own an HP G60, and for whatever reason it isn't connecting to the internet today. It is connected to the network and has excellent connection. All of the other computers in my house are working just fine connecting to the network and getting internet. So why is my laptop not connecting to the internet!? Also how do i fix it? moreOpen Question: HP Pavilion keeps on re-booting itself...? It's in a re-boot loop...? Help?
Well, my brother was using the main family computer, (A HP Pavilion a1200a) and he had about 5-7 programs running, and didn't close them and turned the computer off by the power button. A couple of hours later - my Mother tried using the computer, and it kept on rebooting itself. For example - it would show the blue HP screen, then it would go to a black screen saying "We apologize for this inconvenience. Something went wrong, blah blah blah. Choose from these options below - Safe mode, safe mode with networking" etc etc. That's not word-for-word, but it's pretty close to it. If I choose any of those options, it re-boots itself again. And again. And again. And again! It doesn't get into windows AT ALL. Anyway, that computer had everything...Photo shop, important documents, photos, and resumes...I'm on my laptop now, but I'd like to know how to get it up and running again..? Last year we had a house fire - the disks for Photo shop, Windows etc etc were burned. So...Yeah...I'm kind of in a pickle. Please help...? Thanks in advance. I kind of feel sorry for my Mom because she needs the computer and it's ruined :/I let my parents use my laptop but it's really slow. It takes about 2-5 minutes to load one page. Gaah moreOpen Question: Necessity for laptop in college? (Revised) HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Hello, it is August 4, 2010 today and I begin college on August 30, 2010 at CSU San Marcos. I will be commuting from my home 3 times a week which is about 40 miles away from school. My current laptop (HP Pavillion dv9700)'s network drivers and CD drivers do not work, because they cannot be detected. I have tried all possible ways to fix this with the resources I currently have. I do not have a warranty, and taking it to get repaired will cost me likely as much as $100-200+. Not only are my wifi and ethernet ports broken, my disc driver is broken too due to the compatibility issues of Vista + iTunes CD driver configurations. It is literally impossible for me to fix this computer, as I have already tried everything that I can. (I can't even system restore anyways, and never could make a system restore disc because the disc driver never worked since we got it). I also have several computers in my house. I have an old Sony Vaio that my mom uses for studying, my broken HP laptop, and this dell desktop that my mom is kindly letting me use for internet. The only cpu I am allowed to use with permission is the dell desktop, because it is used for my mom's work, and I am not allowed to download anything, or do anything on it except use it for internet. My question is, Do I need a laptop for college? I am an incoming freshman and am majoring in the Computer Science field. In about 2 years, I am planning on transferring to another school to continue studying Computer Science and/or pursue Aeronautical Engineering. Before, my HP pv9700 was struggling to keep up with the things I do, and also has many other problems within the computer itself(along with the recall). If I were to choose a laptop, I have planned on purchasing the Alienware m11x R1. My reason for choosing it is because I plan to use it for school, computer programming, watching movies, video editing, minor gaming, research, socializing with my friends, webcam, and other general uses. The computer is also small, light and extremely portable. I was also able to get a hands-on feel at my local BestBuy. Along with it's looks being appealing, small features such as the matte keys and smooth surface provided an ease with typing. I also found that the battery life, performance, portability issue, and function all fell under my needs. However my parents did not approve. They found other "visually attractive laptops" such as Toshibas, other Dells and some HP products to be a lot "better" for around $100-200 less. Their choices on the laptops had glossy sticky keys, they were around 15" in size or full keyboard(with numpad), and some of them were even heavy. My dad knows about as much as how CPU's work as I do(maybe even better), but my mom doesn't know too much about how CPU's work. I really like the Alienware, because not only is it visually stunning(IMO), it is a very powerful notebook for it's size and group genre. I was hoping to get the R2(or i-series core), but the R1's(with dual core) seem to fit my needs at a cheaper price. I understand my parents reasons for choosing what they chose, but I strongly believe that what I chose personally fits my needs best, especially for $100-200 more! As much as I really would love to get a the m11x, I am unsure if it will really be useful in college. I was wondering if it would be possible to make it through the first two years of college without a laptop. If my HP never broke, I wouldn't have gotten in this situation, and would be able to spend the money on other things, but it really looks like I need this laptop. It just sucks that my parents don't agree, and I will probably be stuck with something that won't benefit me as much as it could. The money I would be using(if i were to get a laptop) would be my parent's money. Sorry my question is a little confusing... but I wanted to provide as much information about the situation I am stuck in. (And if there were a way, how would I be able to convince my parents to side with me on the m11x?) Additional Details... :) To summarize it, I need a laptop that is small, light, powerful, and extremely portable that will perform admirably for exceeding demands and general use. I chose the m11x, but my parents refused and said I don't really need a laptop right now and can probably wait 2 years before getting a new one of my choice, or I can get a crap one now(their choice of laptop for around same price). Do I really need a laptop for college? Or will I be able to make it at least 2 years without one before buying one. I'll add more details later... Please help! Thanks! :D Should you come across this question, please spread it around, as I really need help... Here's the link to this question... http://tinyurl.com/laptop4college I revised this question because I think I put it in the wrong section. I hope this section will attract more attention and actually give me p.s. my 18th bday is coming up this month very soon moreOpen Question: Do I need a laptop for college?

Ok. On my laptop, the network drivers are gone. It came with them, but they dissapeared. Ive tried geting them back on there(Broadcom 801.11 and Intel wireless) but it still ill not work. I tried doing a system restore to the point where I got it and still, nothing. I would rater have it fixed then getting a USB plug in that makes it work. It has 3 USB ports but the one on the top right side of the computer doesn't work. Can I have some help with that too? Thanks. moreVoting Question: Why does my laptop randomly disconnect from the internet?
When I turn on my laptop [HP, Vista], the internet is fine; but after a couple of hours [1-2] my laptop just suddenly disconnects from the internet. I try to reconnect, but it says that "windows cannot find any networks." There are 2 other computers at home, and they work just fine. I've found that a temporary solution to this problem is to restart my laptop. Doing this reconnects to my internet, but it will just disconnect again in a couple of hours. Also, I recently got my laptop repaired [the motherboard died from repeated falls] And I'm currently running the laptop to check if it has any viruses that could possibly be causing this? [anti-malwarebytes and symantec] does anyone have any ideas as to whats going on with my laptop's internet connection? moreVoting Question: Which laptop/notebook should I get?
Money isn't an issue - happy to spend $1500 plus. I'd use it for photos, itunes, web browsing, some social networking and some work at home. Not sure if I should get a macbook pro, HP or Toshiba - not sure how big a HD I'd need either - not that computer savvy - nor do I know the difference between intel core 2 duo or intel i5/i7. Any advice and experiences is much appreciated. I'm from Australia if that helps thank you BJThank you for all t your answers. Very varied. People I ask (that I know) have suggested HP or Mac. Hello, I'm currently on my desktop computer and i have a problem concerning my HP Mini 110 Windows xp Service pack 3 Laptop. How the problem started I've recently been playing a online game called Maple story and I've downloaded this hack (Which i shouldn't of and i regret). I'm going to post a scan result right now in this post and could you see if this is harmful to my computer at any way. Anyway, in order for me to download Maple story I had to require a lot of space on my laptop therefore i had to disable and delete system restore points. What happened After i double clicked on the program my computer started running super slow, I figured this was really weird so i restarted. The startup was fine going through windows xp logo and selecting a user account. But when it loaded my user account it was super slow. No desktop icons displayed nor the startmenu bar. It took awhile for it to load the first thing would always pop up is this box displaying "Personalizing theme, running svchost". Then all of my desktop items and start menu would appear but it would be working really slow. I loaded up ctrl alt delete and it showed weird file names in application like something a5yyhxxxxxx.exe and when i right clicked to proccess it lead up to svchost.exe. Kaspersky internet security detected svchost.exe as a trojan.generic virus. Also, i can no longer connect to the internet because no networks shows up. The telephony service on my laptop can no longer work. What i did The first thing i did is Ran in safemode, then i began a full system scan with Kaspersky on my computer. It Quarantined svchost and that hack i downloaded but the problem still persisted. I enabled system restore but what it said was "System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and then run system restore again." The problem still kept on happening. This applies to the list above as well. --I do not use hardware or other devices often; I do not have a regular printer or scanner that I use and I infrequently use a camera (I forget the model). However, I still use these products. If deleting something interferes with my ability to use hardware, please inform me. If you have any tips on how to bypass such problems even if the program is deleted, it would be very appreciated too. The router works with other laptop computers (HP and a Dell). The router is connected to my Dell desktop. My laptop has also worked with other routers. My router shows up on the list of available networks, but when I try to connect it says, "cannot connect to network" and prompts me to "diagnose the problem" which doesn't work. Any theories or advice would be appreciated. Thanks[: moreResolved Question: Is it possible to mirror a broken computer's desktop to a working one?
My dad and I both have HP G60-235DX notebooks, and he recently spilled coffee on his and fatally damaged it. It just barely turns on, and I can faintly see an error message suggesting we do a system restore (the screen is mostly black.) We can't command it to system restore, however, because neither the touchpad nor the keyboard works, and it doesn't recognize when we plug in a USB mouse. I was wondering if it would be possible to somehow sync our 2 computers so that I can display his monitor output on my monitor. Theoretically, that way I could guide his computer to do the system restore and recover some of his data without paying an arm and a leg for a repair shop to do it. However, his computer doesn't come up in my network anymore (since we can't log in) so I can't access his data wirelessly. Is there a program I can download on my laptop to accomplish this, or is there a cable I can use to attach the 2 computers and display his destop instead of mine? Thanks for all the replies so far! To clear up any confusion, we're not intending for his laptop to ever function again. It will cost about as much as a new laptop to fix his broken one, so we're just hoping to get the information off his hard drive and then get rid of the laptop. moreResolved Question: why can i not connect to the internet?
i have an HP laptop, using a Dlink router and it always says limited connectivity or local only, it works for the other 5 people that use it, for some reason my computer shows it as 2 networks when it should only be one (1.dlink, 2.Unidentified network.) help! moreResolved Question: How to gain access to the internet when blocked by router?
Hello, I am on an HP laptop, and my dad has set the internet to stop working after 10pm, and it is starting to get really annoying. I have found some ways around this before, such as going into the Network and Sharing Center and the Properties and changing the last number in the IP address. Now those numbers don’t work anymore for some reason. Recently, I have been able to get on the internet by changing it to this one number, which I learned was the main computers IP downstairs, but it is risky if my dad or someone else is on there because one time I did that, and downstairs it showed a message of an IP conflict, so that option can’t always work. Plus, even if nobody is on that computer, it just doesn’t work for some reason. I’m looking for a way that can get me on the internet, such as changing some different numbers in the settings, some kind of program, or something else to bypass whatever he is using to set the restriction. I have searched for this very much and I don’t think there is any way to word the problem where it doesn’t come up with results like blocked websites to use proxy’s and stuff like that. What I mean by that is I can access all sites on the internet; just not past certain times, is the problem. Thank you in advance. moreResolved Question: scan from hp photosmart c4380 thats on a network?

I work in a small office - 2 laptops, 1 desktop. We have a DSL connection. Last October the router fried when the building lost power and we have troubles with the new one ever since. Throughout the day every 15-25 minutes, the network connection goes down for 2-5 minutes. The problem happens mostly on my laptop, however my boss experiences this occasionally. However - when my boss is NOT here, and has his laptop with him I have NO problems I have a brand new - 2 weeks old - HP windows 7 laptop. He changed the network settings to be dynamic to connect to the 10.0.0.x network he claims the router is on. Today I started playing around and saw in the event viewer the following NETBT Error -- The name "WORKGROUP :1d" could not be registered on the interface with IP address 10.0.0.5. The computer with the IP address 10.0.0.6 did not allow the name to be claimed by this computer. I dont know if this has anything to do with the chronic disconnects. Does anyone have a suggestion as how to resolve the issues I am having? I'm looking to get a new computer in about 2 months (for my b'day) but I'm having trouble trying to find the one I would like. I'm having a few difficulties, one I'm trying to keep it below $1000, more like $850 would be nice. I've looked at Dell mostly, due to my almost 6-year old Dimension 4700's been good to me for the most part, though if I can get more for the money from a different brand I'm not complaining. . My main purposes for the computer are games (Runescape, Guildwars, Unreal, Farcry), movies, and music which my current computer does fairly well on low-medium settings, but it being 6-years old its been getting some irritating problems which I "can" fix for awhile, but they come back after a few days/weeks so I'm tired of fixing them...And windows 7 looks nicer than Xp, plus I've been avoiding some things because my computer just can't handle it... Current computer's running on Windows Xp Sp3, 2GB Ram, 81GB Hard Drive. Busted floppy drive (who cares) and a really glitchy CD Burner. I just built this one on dell.com to see how much it would cost, its not bad, the only thing I really feel isn't what I want is probably the Video Card. Recommended specs (is 8GB of ram really helpful, quad processor vs duel)? 4. Whenever it inevitably gets a problem can I just keep everything on my 1.5TB external Hard Drive and restart it from factory, or will that have some disadvantages? 5. Anything you would suggest that I didn't mention? Oh, and I want a desktop...I really hate laptops...I already have a nice monitor, so I really don't want something that includes one.. My wife and I have two new HP laptops. We have been using our wireless router daily. Suddenly I noticed things going more slowly, and a few days later neither laptop would connect wirelessly. I have (1) not bought anything that would cause interference; (2) verified the firmware update is current; (3) restarted every device in the appropriate order; (4) tested both computers; (5) checked the router's website; (6) gone through the routers IP to see if anything could be changed but nothing stood out to me, even doing the router reboot; (7) attempted to access it through Vista and also the application Network Magic on my computer as well as Win7 on my wife's computer but nothing has worked; and, (8) reset the router via the reset button. We have internet access by the cable that runs through our router to the computer; it is only the wireless side of things that is having trouble. My only conclusion is that the router has just plain gone bad. We now live out of the country and so taking care of this has become quite difficult. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially from someone who has resolved the same issue for themselves! :) moreResolved Question: Windows 7 Internet is slow and randomly drops off?

Okay so here is the situation: I had an hp pavilion PC computer....therefore i did not have wifi because there was no need to have wifi since it was a computer not a laptop. I have a D-Link router router, and an office with two desktop CPUs in it. I set up the D-Link router and used it to split the internet to both desktop computers, and then established a unsecured wireless connection (I'm sure all the neighbors loved me) for the house called "D-Link". This was usable by all cpus in the house. Recently, I just got a HP notebook with Windows 7, and tried connecting. It for some reason suggested that my "D-link" connection was password protected, so instead I set up a new connection based on D-Link, and called it "Laptop" which required me to enter the PIN number from the actual router. After that the internet on my HP worked like a charm, but now the entire house cannot get wireless. Our "D-Link" connection is gone and in its place is "Laptop", which says it is secured and will not let anyone but me connect. I did not know my separate laptop could somehow change a desktop cpu's settings, and lock everyone out, but needless to say I want to get the wireless working for everyone again. I looked in my device manager and I got this message Resource Settings: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. My wifi adapter is Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g. I don't understand what it is telling me to disable. My other network adapters are Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network), Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI), and NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller. Also, when I close my laptop and open it, nothing happens. The power button flashes like when it's asleep but it never comes back on. I have tried holding the button in to turn it off but that does nothing. I have to take the battery out and put it back in.. I am very frustrated with this entire situation. Any help would be appreciated. moreVoting Question: I'm buying my first laptop, and I don't know what's best. Please help :)?

I'm having problems with my HP compaq nc6000 laptop?
I've recently bought a second hand hp laptop and when I first started it up it had a windows xp user name and password I had to enter to get in to the system. So from another laptop I downloaded the opcrack live to crack the passwords etc and it did and it worked and now I can get in to the system. But a lot of the programs and even the my documents folder I can't get into has it says I haven't got permission too and see the administrator. Only thing is I used the administrators user name and password to get in to the system and changed the name and password which I now use to log in too but I still can't use the computer has if I were the administrator. The laptop were part Of a network and has a domain name and the were more than one user using the laptop whether this makes a difference I don't know but all I want to do is use the laptop has if I'm the administrator and browse the web etc and I can't. can some one please help? moreResolved Question: How can I print to a network printer that doesn't support my os?
