Open Question: No Adio Device installed.?

okay, i got an acer aspire Notebook 1360 quite a number of years ago. i got a virus on it around ayr ago and have only recently got it working again by downloading a new OS. however i downlaoded it with NO DRIVERS. i couldnt even go on the internet wiht it because i didnt have the LAN driver lol. i eventually got that installed and i have the audio and visual drivers all installed however - it now seems that teh built in speakers do not work because they are not installed. i tried buying some external speakers from a shop but there is no where to plus them in on the notebook :| ive plugged them in everywhere i can and nothting happens :| so im guessing i need to find ( somewhere on the net ) an installation donwload for the internal speakers for my laptop. im wondering if anyone knows where i can get this download? and please no one suggest going to the manufacturers webite because ive tried all that stuff and they only provide the audio drivers not teh installation for the internal speakers :( more

Resolved Question: How To Protect My Laptop Free?

I have a brand new Compaq Cq61-414NR Notebook windows 7 home premium. I had it a little over a month and I already had to do a system recovery. This was because of Norton Internet Security, which I hate with all my heart. Everytime your subscription runs out it completely messes up your computer as if to say thats what you get for not buying a new liscense. What are some free softwares I can download that are simple and effective? what should I look out for like programs not to install and things I shouldnt do. The problem that norton caused was a disk error and my pc could not even run check disk to fix it. I couldnt system restore or boot in safe mode. but the free trial comes with the computer..I have other virus protection to install. but is it safe to remove norton regularly or should I use the removal tool? Open Question: Laptop screen flickering, should I RMA?

I just bought an ASUS UL50VT-A1 from Best Buy the other day. It's okay so far, and I'm checking out how the laptop performs on the battery right now, as I'm typing this question. I'm noticing the screen flickering (I don't know if this term is correct, the screen brightness is going up and down rapidly). I'm wondering if this is a serious problem that requires an RMA. Open Question: Why is my webcam so delayed?

Yesterday I bought a new laptop. It is an Asus Notebook G60 with a built in webcam and mic. Whenever i use the webcam it is delated. I move, then a second or two later, I move on the screen. And when i move, it shows me in some type of slow motion. Then whenever i use skype, i talk and they can hardly hear me. I turned up my volume all the way on skype and on the pc. And nothing. I remember my mom saying those words after dad died. I was only six, but I still understood. The police showed up after I called them for a missing report on my mom. Many policemen didn’t survive going off on their search party in the woods. After that, I ended up here with a new family and a new place to live. It was a decent house. No. It was horrible! The house was all shabby-looking like a shack. The inside was worse. Beer cans left all over the floor, kitchen supplies stuffed in the dilapidated couch, bedrooms never cleaned, smelly socks everywhere, fuzzy screen on the television, toilet overflowing always, people never caring. The only decent room in there was mine! There was a bed with a beautiful quilt I knitted myself on it in the corner; a big brown desk with a laptop and globe on it; a big walk in closet to the side of the room with all the things my puppy needs, I leave it open for her to come in and out; a huge bookcase full of books on the other side; and a door that leads to the hallway. “Angelica.” called my mother. “Yea, mom?” replied my step sister (she was from their family). “Go get the mail.” mother commanded. “Fine.” Angelica stepped out of her messy room and headed out the door. “Mary.” “Yes?” I asked. Voting Question: Why does my laptop not realize it's actually plugged in?

I have just bought a new HP windows 7 notebook, and it has been restricting me from doing some tasks because it thinks that it's not plugged in. It charges when it's plugged, but it still runs on the battery. When I was trying to create the system restore disks, it told me that I could not do it while running on battery power, even though I had it plugged in. I also found that when I set up power schemes, it won't bright the LCD like I told it to when I plug it in, even though it IS plugged in. It stays dim just like it's running on battery. The charging light goes on when I plug it in, but the computer is still running on battery. It does not realize that it IS plugged in. Why is this? How can I fix it? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Asus G73JH Notebook Purchase?

I've been looking to buy a new laptop lately because my current one is utter crud. I've read plenty of reviews on the Asus G73JH and know it almost inside out. It appears Asus does not let you customize it before you order it, but I really would like it to boot from a solid state drive. My question is really a two-part one: should I order it from xoticpc.com and customize the solid state drive into it? Or should I buy a solid state drive by itself, install it, and hope the recovery CDs the laptop comes with can install everything that would originally comes on the laptop? And I guess I'll throw in this third question for good measure: Is there any other better laptops out there for under $2000? I am a gamer and I generally play those graphically stunning FPS games like Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and I'm looking to get Mass Effect 2. Any suggestions?(preferably with a quad processor). Voting Question: I am trying to download the latest Lexmark driver for my new mini notebook but have been having great difficul?

Every google search of "free lexmark driver printer x6100 series" brought me to either very old pages (2001) or seemed to be from the manufacturer but then sent me to other pages that will do a free search/scan but then wants $30 to help further. I tried Driver Whiz and it has identified the out of date driver but NO WHERE does it help me download the proper one. I've scoured the help section and the frequently asked questions section and when I click on a link that seems as though it'll help me it only "educates" me on what the section can help me with, but there are no links that help. All I am trying to do is update my new computer so I can use the printer and print out the documents I am typing up. Doesn't seem like rocket science and I don't understand why this is so difficult. My larger laptop (which is not working at present) was customized by the Geek Squad and they put a driver in it for me. I recall the guy saying it's a little complicated, took him a little while (8/2008). Any simple solutions that actually work? more

Resolved Question: Why isn't my wireless connection working?

I have a Cisco Linksys wireless router. It has not been working lately, when I get on my Toshiba Notebook laptop and try to get on Internet Explorer It comes up with this page that says that I can't connect to the internet. So I went under my Start menu and clicked 'connect to' and my router name isn't there. I went to a friends house and they were quickly able to connect my laptop to their wireless. So I went home and unplugged all the wires and put the disk in and went through all the steps, and it's still not working. I went out and bought a new router, the same one I already had. I went through all the steps, tried to get onto the internet and it still is not working. I have tried everything I know how to do. The power went out a couple of weeks ago (around the time it stopped working). Would this have anything to do with my router not working? Even have anything to do with the new one not working? I have an HP G60-235WM Notebook PC with an 802.11b/g wireless LAN (I know the b/g means I can't get an N connection), but the computer also says I have an NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Networking Controller. Not sure what that is. Anyway. I just got a new router. A Linksys Dual-Band N Wireless Router and am currently running it on a 2.4Ghz Mixed signal with the channel set to Auto. Whenever I try to set it to 5Ghz, my laptop won't pick up any signal and I have to plug my laptop into the ethernet in order to change the router back to 2.4Ghz to use wireless again. Please help. I've been getting really slow internet lately and am trying to figure out the issue. (I just upgraded TODAY to 10Mps from 3Mps, and the speedtest I took online said I'm only getting 1-2Mps)Okay. My current connection (according to what I read from the properties of the connection through my laptop) is 802.11n... what does that mean? xD more

I'm thinking about buying a new laptop as my current one (Dell Latitude D610) just runs really slow despite having the majority of files/programs stored on an external hard drive and the regular running of a registry cleaner, disk cleanup, and disk defragmenter. I've used the system restore disk previously to restore my laptop back to the original configuration but it didnt help much. How would I know what laptop is best for me? I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive but one with perhaps a bigger internal hard drive and definitely more than 1 gb of ram. Also if ram would be my problem as may be the case, how would i install more ram? I have a spare gb of ram but have no clue as to how i would install it. Have had it for about 3 years, and I think I am ready for a new laptop. How much do you think i could ask for it?
