configuration of the m15x: intel core i7-720QM processor (1.6Ghz - 4 cores) 6/8 gb ddr3 sd ram (have a choice) 1 gb nvidia geForce GtX260M graphics card, 500GB SATA raid0 HDD. mac-book pro : intel core2duo : 2.8Ghz, 4gb ddr3 ram, 512mb nvidia graphics, 500gb HDD. These were my main preferences but i think i can also consider these....... hp pavilion dv6 : intel core2duo : 2.53Ghz, 4gb ddr3 ram, 500gb HDD, 1gb ati graphics. acer aspire 5738dg : intel core2duo : 2.2Ghz (pretty low!!), 4gb ddr3 ram, 512mb ati graphics, 500 gb HDD AND, it has got 3D picture, thus, i can play games and watch movies in 3D. Now, im entering college and looking forward to buying a new laptop. My main requirements are, gaming (but i am not a HARDCORE gamer as such), entertainment (i love watching movies and listening to music), i want fast computing and great performance - i want my laptop to take whatever i throw at it, i want super-fast performance and the internet, e-mail and the other regular stuff. My current laptop is the dell inspiron 1525 with a mere 2Ghz core2duo and 2gb ram!!! I'm quite pissed with it!!! money is not an issue unless it crosses Rs.2lacs ($4000). So... I got a Dell laptop for my birthday, and I downloaded iTunes onto it for my iPod... blah blah blah. Well, I bought a couple of songs off the new iTunes that I downloaded. I plug in my iPod, and it syncs the new songs on, but it erases all my others. I only have 4 songs on my iPod now. lol I have all my songs on my old Mac, and I can just download them back on (I think!), so that's not really a problem. I just want to be able to use my new computer to charge and sync the iPod and everything. Any help??? more

Well my mom has a Dell Latitude D510 and I know it is pretty old but it has a built in WiFi card. So it has the ability to access WiFi networks and use the internet. Know I got a new wireless router a D-link Dir-615. I setup the router and it works fine, my dads ipod can pick up the signal and my ds too. But when I used my moms laptop it picked up the signal and accessed the network. Now here is the problem when I access the internet it gets on google and works but when I try to go to another site it takes a long time to popup and by that time we close the window before it pops up. When I also try to access my email it takes a long time to. Open Question: My keyboard is opening programs, emails and printing things while I type. How do you fix this?

I just purchased a new Dell with Windows 7. As I'm typing an email in 2007 Outlook, other programs start popping up when I press a letter. For example: I will press F and a new email opens up, or S and something starts printing. Different letters do different things, but never the same thing twice in a row. I am pretty good with computers, but I just can't figure this out. The Windows key is not being pressed and it is not stuck, so this is not the shortcut keys. Brand new laptop, 3 days old. Dear Friends, Dell Inspiron 1545 Keyboard is damaged. Alphabet keys do not work. I want to replace with new keyboard. Also, the edge of the monitor was also damaged. My daughter, who is two years old, has removed all the keys and that is one of the reasons that damaged the laptop. I want to request the Dell service agent to replace the keyboard. New Keyboard where my daughter cannot remove the keys again. For ex: USB keyboard or Desktop Keyboard keys cannot be removed by hand. Open Question: HELP MY COMPUTER IS JACKED UP?

ok...I have a dell laptop.. It got like 27 viruses on it andso i went and bought Kaspersky antivirus.. I installed it... Then it asked me to restart mycomp..soi did..Then the next thing I know I click on my internet explorer and it pops up and says "application not found" or something like that..Then I restored my computer to an earlier date and it does fine.. It didnt show Kaspersky on anything so I riedto install it again... This time it says that it will need to restart after it downloads the "newest version" and so I restar the comp like it says and then it just does it again...and again...and again... It just wont install.. And it will say that it cannot continue because I need to delete Mcaffee antivirus..It wont delete.. I go to contol panel and go to add/remove programs and it still wont do it...nothing happens...On top of all that, This wierd black window keeps poping up and then closes immediatley..IDK what the heck it is.. and on the internet it will show some things on like facebook or google...but it wont show other things on those websites...Please help me more

I have a dell inspiron e1505. I currently have two 1Gb "chips" or however you would call it. I just bought one 2Gb "chip" and installed up but now my laptop doesnt start. I know its the right ram, DDR2-800/667/533. If I reuse my old one it works again. Do the two ram have to be the same size in order for it to work? Ive got another 2Gb one coming in a few days so that i may have 4Gb total. . I was thinking that it might be happening because i need same sized ones in at the same time which is why my two 1Gb ones are working. Thanks for all your help in advance!! more

So I want to buy a business Notebook. It's moslty going to be used for work related programs and surfing, but also some lightweight gaming with newer games. All in all fast is the keyword here. I am looking for a dell laptop 15.6" display and the new i3 processor. I was always told the Studio line 15" is better than the inspiron. But what I noticed is this. Inspiron 1564 weighs 5.44lbs and is 1.29" - .79" thick. Has everything but backlit keyboard. Studio 15 weighs in 5.54lbs and is 1.5" to 1" Thick. Did they update the inspiron and then they will be waiting to do that to the studio in a couople of months. I would like to have the thinest and lightest 15" laptop that has the best screen. Open Question: Why does my Dell freeze after waking up from sleep?

I've seen a few questions similar to this one on this site and others already, but most of those were dealing with Windows XP or a different model PC. Or, the answers simply didn't make an ounce of sense. So, here's my specific issue: I have a Dell Inspiron INSP1440 with Windows 7. I've only had it for a month and I've had this problem from day one. Whenever I shut the lid to put the laptop in sleep mode or hit the power button to make it hibernate, everything seems to work fine. But when I wake the laptop back up, usually my internet is frozen. Other programs work fine and the mouse responds, but if I had an Explorer window open when the computer went to sleep, it's frozen after waking up. Even after closing those windows and opening new ones or disabling then enabling the wireless connection, the internet refuses to respond. Can anyone tell me what's causing the problem? What can I do in this situation? And please, answer like I'm the most computer-illiterate person you've ever met. I don't like to think I am, but I've loved the easy to follow step-by-step answers I've recieved on this site before. thanks in advanced! more

I own a Dell latitude d610 running Windows 7. About a month ago I bought it a NEW 6-cell 5200mAh Battery. The old one i have only lasted about 20 minutes compared to the new one that last 3-4 hours. Then came another problem, my AC adapter wouln't charge it. So i replaced it with a NEW charger and its been working fine for the 2 weeks i've had it. I fully charge the battery and when it reaches 40% it shuts down by itself. DIFFERENTLY from others, mine will boot back up if i turn it on by pressing the power button. and it will work perfect the rest of the 40%.I forgot to mention that: I can turn it back on after it shuts down by itself at 40% WITHOUT having to plug in the AC adopter.I FOUND OUT HOW!!!! UNDER "POWER OPTIONS" THEN "ADVANCED POWER OPTIONS" THEN "BATTERY"!!! YAY more

Open Question: My external monitor turns off when my laptop is opened. It originally didn't do this. What settings are wrong?

I got a new desk, so I moved everything. Since I've done that, it isn't working the same way. I used to be able to have both the external monitor (A Dell Monitor, I don't know the exact specs), and the laptop (Toshiba Satellite P305) monitor in use. Now it won't work unless I close the laptop lid. I don't know what settings were changed when I moved it. Perhaps it was because I moved it while it was still on. I don't know. Pressing the Function+F9 (The monitor switching) doesn't work either, so please don't tell me that. I'm pretty sure that it's set up to have dual-monitors, but it doesn't seem to act like it. When I hook it up to my other laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505) it works fine. The Toshiba is Vista, while the Inspiron is XP. I don't think this much matters, as it is the settings that seemed to have changed. TL:DR Version Vista is a pain in the tush. How do you set up Dual-Monitors on it?Dual-monitor isn't giving me the same settings as I had before. Perhaps it's another setting I am seeking. more

Open Question: Looking for a replacement Hard Drive.?

My laptop's (Dell Inspiron 1525) hard drive has gone bad recently, and I am looking for a replacement. I searched on Ebay, and there are many different ones for sale, but I do not know which one to purchase. My old Hard Drive was: Made by Hitachi HDD: 5k320-250 Model: HTS543225L9A300 5400 RPM 250 GB Capacity 3 GB SATA I found one on Ebay that is: Made by Dell Model: Doesn't list, says (newest model) 7200 RPM 250 GB Capacity Doesn't list the SATA and it has 16 MB Buffer Size I do not know what the Buffer Size means, could someone help me out with that? Also would this be a good replacement for my old hard drive? I can't seem to find my hard drive on Hitachi's website. (www.hitachigst.com) Thank you. more

I've had a dell inspiron 1545 for about 10 months, I bought it for college but I didn't do much research into what I wanted and I hate it. I just bought it because it was cheap and I had just saw a commercial for it. I've been having display and touch pad issues with it, so I'm just ready for a new laptop. I just need something for school and to browse the internet. I don't really do much else. I need a laptop for home-use. I use to have Tobisha or something and I just HATED it. If you had a few downloaded things onto it, it would slow right down. It was horrible. I'm looking for one that: - has very high speed even if you have a lot of downloaded games or applications. - good picture-quality - good built in webcam? - less or no problems. - etc. I'm looking at the new sony series, or the dell inspiration 15 laptop. My mom had the dell inspiration and it's great for computer games, but i didn't check out the internet speed or webcam. which would be best? more

hey i live in cali like probably hours away from a dell factory ne way thats besides the point i purchased a laptop online talked to a representative and got a prefered laptop for gaming. when they called me for confirmation i gave them the info on my debt card after the phone call i went to my bank account it was a pending transaction. the laptop got here 2 days later when i checked my account again the pending transaction is gone? its been 3 days after the shipping date estimated umm... is this the usual procedure? or am i just tripping B alls. Open Question: Why wont my ipod sync?

Ok. so i have a ipod nano video. it is the older version from a couple of years ago. (the square one) I have been syncing it with my dell desktop. I now have a older laptop from '04, a mac. it is a ibook G4 10.3.9. To sync my ipod to the mac i need at least a 10.4.8. because my ipod is newer than the laptop. How can i sync my ipod to that itunes? How do I update my mac? A free way? more

hi im considering on getting a new laptop for uni and mine keeps breaking atm. i was wondering if anyone had any models that they would recommend.price is middle i.e. around £500. Open Question: New laptop having trouble with display color?

I have a dell inspiron laptop new, when I am on the internet the display is not very bright, I go to facebook and play farmville and the colors are not bright at all, whether laptop is plugged in or fully charged. If I tilt the laptop color is improved some what, but I don't feel I should have to do this just to improve the color, have called tech support change settings and still same problem. Color is nothing like my regular computer, but yet in store color seemed brighter. Please advise, I was told all laptops are like this. If I sit back from laptop color is some what better, but purpose of laptop is so I can sit it in my lap and work on it and not from 2 or 3 feet back from it. more
