Rent To Own Laptops And Computers Questions asked

Resolved Question: I have a major problem and I know exactly why I have it....now how can I fix it? plz read!!!!?

So I'm turning 22 years old in July. I'm a college drop-out, my fiance pays for everything, including my old college debt....he paid for the computer I'm using right now, the webcam I have, the keyboard he got me, he buys me a phone once a year for my birthday. He supports my cigarette addiction. We both live with my parents and he pays for my cell phone bill and my half of the rent. Today, he got me a crap load of paper so I can finally print out my manuscript....he bought me ink, a printer and he's getting me a laptop so I'm not confined to our bedroom anymore.....the problem I feel I have is.....I'm getting spoiled and I can feel that I'm getting spoiled. I think I'm addicted to buying things and its not just random things that we'll never use. I'm addicted to buying things we actually need....I KNOW that I'm becoming too much of a hassle and he feels trapped by my addiction to shop and for him to buy me things. I don't have a job right now but I've been looking non-stop. I want to help him as much as I can....but how can I help when I don't have a job? I feel bad for accepting the things he gets me but at the same time....I feel like I can't help it either. Its kinda nice for someone to take care of me financially and it certainly makes me feel alot safer knowing that he's willing to do that for me when were both in times of need. My mother has told me since I quit college that I'm never going to make something of myself and I want to prove her wrong. I want to write a book/novel, one that people can relate to, one that'll get just as famous as Harry Potter. But I only want to get wealthy from it for 2 reasons: 1. to help my fiance pay off HIS debt to show my gratitude (considering his debt is a lot more than mine....) and 2. to prove my mother and everyone else who agrees with her, I want to prove them all wrong. I want to show them that I CAN do something without having to go to college. My mom is poor, we got evicted a few years ago from our old house of which we lived most our lives. I don't want to end up like that.....I'm literally terrified of ending up that way and I'm scared out of my mind that that's what will happen. If it does, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm furious with my entire family right now because while I was growing up, they made me believe that I was better than the lives they were leading. I play the piano, sing and write. They all thought I would make something of myself in the performing arts such as writing my own book or getting onto broadway. Now that I realize....they got my hopes up. They never warned me for this. I feel like they were leading me on to believe something that wasn't ever going to happen. My whole life I always thought things were going to be done for me and that people would always be there to help me out. But I was worng and they never warned me. I feel like I'm having a nervous breakdown. I want to pay back my fiance for everything he's done for me and for things he didn't have to get me. I feel like I'm dealing with this through depression and shopping. I don't want him to get me these things because I feel like I'm becoming too dependent on him. I feel like he should take care of me and I've always been independent until I lost my job in 2009 (February) and I haven't been able to find a job since.... Has anyone else ever had this problem? My family made me believe that I could be a young J.K. Rowling at 18 years old and a mini-Chita Rivera at age 17. I just feel so let down and I feel guilty for depending on my fiance who can barely afford his car right now. I feel as if I'm in a pit of which I desperately keep trying to climb out. I don't know what to do. Are there any suggestions? I know that I should have stayed in college but....I just couldn't do it. The work is too hard and my priorities were out of sorts at the time. I want to go back but without a job I can't pay the fees and tuition. I can't ask my fiance for that too. I made a mistake when I was young and believe me, I'm paying heavy consequences for it. I want to get out of this rut. I just don't know how to do that. The big mistake I made was when I dropped out of college. I'd rather have NO family than family who does nothing but puts me down constantly.....i'm having a nervous breakdown and I need to deal with MY OWN problems right now, not anyone else's (no offense) to the first girl who responded, thanks but I have no health insurance and I am trying to find ANY job, any job at all, whether it be dishwashing or manual labor, I dont care what it is. I just need work badly. The job market SUCKS up here though lol more

Resolved Question: I can't get the volume to work on this laptop ...?

The symbol on the screen just says that the volume is on mute. I go to the symbol and click on it, and it will not let me open the file. I went to the control panel and then to the audio part and clicked on it, and it just says application cannot be found. Before this started, I had to send my computer to the shop because it not only had a virus, it had a worm. They kept it about a month and finally sent it back and said it was fixed. When I got on it, it still had a virus. It had volume then. But I installed a norton anti-virus disc which cleared up the virus problem, but then I had no volume. The discs that came with the computer (to restore it ) were not returned from the computer shop where I sent it because they said it would not work anymore. What now ? This computer is rent-to-own and if I can't get the volume to work, whats the use in having a computer?. But if I return it, I have lost money. This thing is almost paid for. Can anyone help me with this problem.? more

Resolved Question: Is it fair that my half sisters get the biggest room and me and my brother have a tiny room?

My half sisters are 3 and 5 and have the attic room which is huge runs the whole length of the house. My twin brother and I have just turned 19 and share a tiny room (8 feet by 9 feet), we both go to uni and found it was cheaper to stay at home that live on the grounds. Our half sisters have double beds each and we have to share bunk beds with a top bunk that's too dangerous to sleep in so one sleeps on the floor most nights unless it's really cold and then we share the bottom bunk. Our step dad refuses to get new bunk beds or fix it. The two girls have expensive laptops, we have an old computer made up of found parts what a friend built for us and it's very slow. Our room is the only room not heated as the house didn't have any central heating when we moved in and to save money they didn't put heating in our room and won't let us have a plug in heater. We both pay rent to stay at home as well as buy our own food and cook for ourselves yet our step dad always cooks for our half sister's using our food. Expects us both to baby sit at the drop of a hat, I've already missed two lectures this year because I was forced to baby sit because my step dad couldn't do it as he was sleeping - he works nights and my mum works 9-2. We help out on chores which we don't mind just it's becoming we do everything except cook dinner for our mum, step dad and half sisters. When we suggested moving out as we had found somewhere mum and our step dad refused to let us go. more

Resolved Question: A question about porn, viruses, and what to do :S.?

I have been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years and I was away on a business trip for 10 days just recently. We don't have internet at home (trying to save $) so I gave him my office keys so he can still access it when I was away. Anyway, even though it was at my office (after hours) he still managed to take my laptop to work and downloaded about 10 really gross porn movies onto it and all sorts of pictures etc. I am ok with porn and I thought he would be discrete with my laptop but the stuff that was on there was pretty gross and caused about 15 viruses my computers anti-virus picked up on including a trojan horse. The trojan horse I am worried about because it keeps popping up. Anyway the point is I just got the computer (new, with my own $) and it really upset me that now all sorts of things are popping up...also the fact that my boyfriend downloaded that stuff in my office onto my computer (although he did try to erase it but it was so easy to find especially since i had all these new viruses). UGH...and I would be completely ok with him to rent pornos or look at sexy pics or magazines...but messing up my computer for porn made me so angry. SO this is a bit of a rant, I did a search on my computer this morning so I haven't really talked to my boyfriend yet. BUT just wondering how to approach this sensibly...:S Any ideas?? more

Resolved Question: How to deal with annoying housemate?

im so angry i want to say something but cant. There are 3 of us living here, she was first and we rent the rooms out from her so very cheaply. First i moved in all the rent i pay includes bills, ive nothing to pay elsei get internet which i pay $20 per month for the wireless, which is my chose because i have a laptop..anyways my husband i are currently not living in the same house, we just got married he has loose ends to tie with his housemates ( he's been sharing with 2 friends for the last 1 year) he has to ride the lease out, because if he leaves he will leave them with more to pay and he didnt want to do that to them, so he stays with me most of the time. the otherday she asked me to pay and extra $50 per week. i was so mad. My husband dosent use anything, he eats and takes a shower and thats about all, we buy our own food and pretty much hang out in my huge room out of site. Im angry she asked for $50, thats 200 per month, he dosent even use 200 worth of electricity, infact our bill isnt even 200 per 3 months for usage! I can understand where she is comming from but im happy to pay an extra $20-30 sure but not 50. I also offered to share with the cost of some household products like toilet paper, dish cleaning stuff and household items, she refused saying oh no i buy them you dont have to?... She also annoys me because her boyfriend just upped and left her, she is obsessed with him and she needs to stop it, she is heavily into astrology and sits on her comp ALL day charting stuff, she is like a mad woman with that, all the time she says something is going to happen and my boyfriend will come back to me. She writes little things about him, i love...so n so...she has his pics everywhere and dreams he will come back. Reality is, he ist comming back, he told her he dosent love her and never to contact him again, he even got the police to come and tell her. She is a clean freak, if i leave something she ,moves it, complains about this and that. We are very tidy and oragnised people. My husband was very offended today at hearing the news of the extra rent, because he just did alot of things for her which he asked no money, like moving the lawn, hubbys a vet so he gives her advice about her dog etc...stuff vets usually charge you for to even see the animal for a "assement". He also fixed her whole computer and reforamtted it, put memory in it and installed everythng she wanted so its like brand new. He saved her possibly upto $250.......She complains all the time, and her voice is so annoying like lastnight we decided to share some new release downloaded movies with her, she would be paying $15 to go to the cinema, she sat there whinging that the movie is in widescreen mode, or the quality isnt the same as cinema ( its same to dvd quality) one movie had 2 parts, she's like ohh are there any movies that dont need to click on the 2nd part? i was like whats the problem, its like inserting another disc! Just annoying..i am wondering if im being the bad person here about the rent and whats happened with her bf? can anyone read all this (lol) and point to me whats im saying IS actually annoying and what she has a right about? thanks? more

Voting Question: What's going on with my Toshiba Laptop?

Hi! I'm 14 years old, and my Mother bought me a used Toshiba L25 Laptop from Rent-A-Center, our salesman wanted us to buy it so badly he gave us 3-weeks free! We thought it was a great deal, until now... It was working pretty well; great speeds, awesome graphics, and a decent sound! Although it over-heated sometimes, I found my own at-home solution for that. Anyway, about a day ago I was on Firefox and it started freezing up, so I decided to reboot the laptop and see how it would go. When it restarted, it got stuck at the "Microsoft Windows XP" screen, not the blue one, but the black one with the blue bar passing by in a small tube, representing it's loading I guess. It stayed at that same screen for hours! I even left it running on that screen last night, and woke up to see it still on there! I've tried Safe Mode, and "Last Good Configuration" and any other option in that panel. I'm pretty good with computers, but I'm not too good with Laptops. And since this is a used Laptop it did not come with any CDs. If I have to use System Recovery, I am fine with that. The only problem is, I have no idea how to activate System Recovery on a Laptop! Can someone give me options? or the right F? key? I really appreciate it, thanks. -Dazed and ConfusedAnd also, Safe Mode and Last Good Configuration, including the other options in the boot panel were not successful. more

Voting Question: Budget Gaming Computer?

Hello, I've recently been on the search for a new computer. The one I have now is fine but my financial situation is a little harsh right now and I'm going to let it go (it is rent to own). I've decided that I'm going to just pay cash for one but I can't really find one that's within my budget ($400-600). Yes, I know it's an extremely low budget. My current computer's specs are: Windows Vista Home Premium 2GHz AMD Sempron Processor M100 2048MB DDR2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200M Graphics This set up runs WoW pretty solid if I put the settings on low, but it's a bit harsh in some raids. I'd like something better, but something equivalent would be fine. Also, I'm thinking of starting to play AION so I'd like something that could run it at a decent rate. I realize I won't be getting anything top of the line, but I'd like something that's going to do what I want it to and not have much of a problem. Also, keep in mind that this can be a laptop or desktop (laptop preferred). I could also build one if need be, but it's a last resort. more

Resolved Question: How do rent-to-own stores survive in spite of deadbeats?

Such as when someone rents a laptop computer from them, then 3 months later gets laid off and moves to another city to get another job, and takes the laptop with them, and stops paying. Then the rent-to-own store has all the expenses of skip tracing etc. And what if the customer already had bad credit and was being hounded by collection agents? The rent-to-own store advertises "no credit check" which implies they don't care if they rent to deadbeats. How do they survive all the losses? more

Resolved Question: How do I find out what type of hardware I have?

I am renting to own a computer from Rent-A-Center, and its a Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop. What I want to do is after finishing paying on it, I want to upgrade the graphics card and if possible, upgrade the RAM. Now I know software, but hardware is lost on me. One, how do I find out what type of Graphics Card I have, and what can I upgrade to? Two, if possible, how do I upgrade the RAM? I want to upgrade the RAM so my computer runs games better, mainly for games like The Sims. I know all my computer has is 1gig of RAM, which I've been told is the bair minimum for The Sims and I'm lucky some of the downloads I've got even work. If I can upgrade my RAM, where do I go do to that?So your saying that in order to upgrade my graphics card, I'd have to replace the whole motherboard?!!! It'd be cheaper to buy a new laptop!!! more

Voting Question: Building the ultimate gaming computer?

Here's the thing. I want an epic computer for gaming, both online and offline, with the tower glowing and the system using liquid cooling, the graphics card incredibly awesome, but also not spending too much money (If the computer sounds awesome, I'll expand my money spending, but for now I don't have too much to spend). From a friend I hear G4tv has an article about it, but I can't find it, so if someone can link me to that, it would be great. Or, if you can convince me you have good technological knowledge (I myself don't have the greatest, but enough to barely get by), link me to another site, or give me your own instructions. I know a ton of nerds have different opinions, BUT I also know that nerds centralize around their focus on what they want their computer to do. Thing is I don't trust myself too much on building the computer myself, and I'm rather impatient because I no longer have a laptop (I'm soon getting a replacement cord so i can extend my patience), and using my moms computer is an extreme inconvenience (because I can't download *anything*, even if it's a text file), and I really don't like tv (But I certainly have a job, so it's not like I'm doing nothing, but I help pay for rent and buy my own food). Patience is a hard thing for me, and as many gamers would sympathize that having no games is a difficult thing, and only having minimal access to a computer is frustrating, and I don't drive, but I do know my bus system quite well to get to key locations, and I can even order online things with my paypal. So, with all that said, I request assistance from fellow nerds. more

Resolved Question: Im not here to support them? Why do they take advantage?

Ughh so Im so frusterated with my roommates. I have a couple in my house, they are nice and everything but they are super weird they never or hardly ever come out of the room they are ALWAYS home, and now they think its okay to eat my food and use my belongings! They ask us for rides all the time, I dont mind because they give us cash, but at 12 a night? Come on, get your freaking cigarettes durning the day. And then they think its okay to go into my linen closet and use the other comforter I have and use my very nice and large plush blanket, without asking. Then they ask if they can use my laptop cause they just need to check there email real quick, and it ends up in their room all day or night, then when I go on I discover that they are using my computer to look at porn, and download their own personal porn and files to my computer (like Im not gonna see it) Then they let us know that they will be a day late for rent, okay thats fine, then next day they dont have us or even let us know whats going on nor do they even come out of the room, then they day after that still no communication, so 4th day rent is late they dont even give us the full amount! They tell us, we'll have the rest tomorrow? Are you kdding me? This isn't pay when you want or when you can its the 1st! That doesnt change! So then this morning I make my daughter these little miny tiny panacakes, I make about 10, so that way the next morning when she wants her food now, I dont have to prepare it, I can just pull a couple out of the fridge, so after Im done making them and after she's eaten, I go and I give her, her bottle and lay her down for a nap, which is about 30 mins (shes difficult) so I come back out and there are only 2 tiny pancakes left, and on top of that earlier I had noticed all my mix was practically gone, so I check the fridge to see if maybe they'd put them away for me, nope, no where in site, they took it upon themselves to eat my food. And they help themselves to my soda, when they ask "is it alright if I have 1?" yeah thats fine 1! Not 1 for each of you everyday! Anyways Im sick of this Im not here to support them, and Im tired of the not asking, and weirdness, how do I get them out of my home without seeming like a b!tch, and with out them going crazy on me? And what do you do when you have a roommate like this? We just dont know how to deal with this/ go about this. more

Resolved Question: Parents Rules still apply at 18 years old?

I am a 17 year old girl, and i will be 18 in December... As far as the kids in my family go (there's 4 of us) I am the most mature, most "knowledgable" (My parents have taught me a lot of home economic stuff such as sewing, cooking, minor auto and electrical repair, etc) and probably the best behaved (17 and still a virgin by choice, in a long-term relationship) and never have drank or smoked, etc, done early with high school... This winter I will be apprenticing my mom for work/school. She is a hairstylist for the past 20 years and I will be apprenticing her for a year before renting my own chair in the family business- I want to make sure I am working from now on out to be able to buy my OWN car that isn't a little clunker.. I have my eyes set on a Jeep Wrangler which is going to run me around $9000... She said i would not have to pay rent because I "will pull my own weight around the house" (they previously were going to make my 16 year old sister pay $500 in rent if she dropped out of school) but today they said that house rules still apply, i have a curfew and my dad will still have time restrictions on my phone and computer.... What privleges do YOU think I am entitled to? Personally i dont care about having a curfew (my mom is leanient on this one as long as I communicate with her as to where I am), but I would like to think that he could leave my cell phone and my internet on at all times for me to make those choices myself (I bought myself a $900 laptop, but the phone is under their name because i'm not 18)... And I want to be able to OCCASIONALLY sleep over at my girlfriend's house.. Are these "demands" too unreasonable to ask for when i'm still under their roof? What do you think?Don't get me wrong, my parents are incredible at their job. I just was wondering if either one of us is being out of line by our "demands". more

Resolved Question: Should I choose my husband or my mother?

8 months ago, I got married and even before that happened, my mother has been screaming at my now husband. Last March, I moved into my own apartment after living with my mother for 23 years. My mother and I were living together in a women's only residence and when I moved out, I was living with my sister, who needed a place to stay. That July, my fiance got evicted and he asked to move in with me and my sister. Though space was tight, my sister and my mother both agreed that nobody should be homeless. A month before that, my mother got a new roommate at the residence that she was living in. After two horrible roommates, she moved into a motel, though I told her not to and my siblings told her not to. It got to the point that she blamed me and my husband for everything that went wrong with her. I wasn't perfect in the least bit. I complained about my sister and told my mother things that maybe I shouldn't have, but I don't think that I was the cause of the things that happened to her. I gave her money and did my best to look after her even though I was, and still am, unemployed. In November, she moved in with me and my husband, and things were fine until she started to get tired of the things that he normally did when it was just me and him. He was a smoker, so he constantly went in and out of the house. He coughed a lot because he was allergic to our pets and he moaned in his sleep. She began to scream and he told one of our neighbors that she was staying there. He said that the guy asked, and he said that she was visiting for a week. When she began to scream at him and threatened to call the police if he didn't leave, he told her that his name was on the lease and she would get kicked out, not him. This blow-up led to me and him having to move out of our apartment after our lease ended and my mother having to leave. She constantly brings this up and says that I've chosen him. She stayed with my sister from early January to May 1st, and that was when I helped her get into the apartment building that my husband and I live in now. She still brings up what happened in December and just the other day, I lost the rent money and she accused him of stealing it. He had just recently bought her a laptop computer with some of the funds from his financial aid and though she had us return it, she still kept the majority of the money. My husband has been quite manipulative and constantly plays the victim, but he also tries to fix his mistakes. My mother legitimately cares about me. When she accused him of stealing the rent money, he got slightly upset and it almost turned into a blow up if I hadn't been there. Now, my mother is threatening to cut me out of her life if I don't leave my husband. I don't know what to do? Do I choose my mother or my husband? Should I cut them out of my life? How would I go about doing this? more

Resolved Question: Can you give me wise advice on what I should attend college for?

I'm a 19 year old male from Cleveland, OH, USA. Doubt that will matter, but I'm trying to give insight in to my life for the best answer possible. My highest grade completed is 8th grade. I was in 9th grade three times. I failed the first two times because I never attended school and finally dropped out the third year because I did not want to complete high school at the age of 20. I have my GED (General Education Development). I want to get enrolled in college asap. So, my biggest passion in life is, simply put, The Universe. I would love to become an Astronomer or an Astrophysicist. The biggest problem with this is that I don't meet any prerequisites for taking a course in Physics which is where I would like to start. Like I said, I dropped out in 9th grade; so I never got to take any advanced classes in Math or Science. Throughout my entire school years I excelled in Math and Science. Getting older and having been out of school for so long I feel I cannot do math at all anymore. I have to think for seconds at a time when asked simple addition problems, etc. I feel it would take a long time to get back where I was when I was younger. I've smoked a lot of marijuana, partly a reason I never attended school, but I also believe it has destroyed my memory, which is why I think it will take me a long time to get back to where I was. I want to do something very hands on and pertaining to the Universe. I want to make amazing discoveries and breakthroughs. I want my name in history as a great scientist. I will not leave this world behind just to be forgotten shortly after. What course should I start with to lead me on the path of becoming an Astronomer or an Astrophysicist? Will I even be able to accomplish this despite my lack of schooling? Since I really want to do something hands on, is Astronomy/Astrophysics the right area to be looking? I've read that "employment in the field is quite varied, with most astronomers working in the academic community," on Astronomy. If I do go through with either of those options, what courses should I start off with? Remember, I don't meet any prerequisites for taking Physics. What basic courses should I take to be able to take Physics, if Physics is my best bet. The other thing I'm looking at is anything in the computer field. IT, Graphic Design, Web Development, Programming, etc. The reason this is my second choice is becausing computers are my second passion. I'm extremely quick with them and learn new things with them even quicker. I have an interview tomorrow to do graphic design for a guy (we'll call him Bob). Supposedly none of his employees started off at less than $30/hr, he offers housing with no rent and each employee receives their own laptop. Sounds entirely too good to be true. I've been doing graphic design (or at least toying with it) since I was about 12 when I received my first pirated version of Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Bob needs someone to do coupon magazines for him. I've never made anything that's actually been printed or anything. I've made basic websites for me, friends and I did one real job for someone on GetAFreelancer.com which was a web template. Everyone I know says I'm talented with graphic design, but I don't think so. I don't think I have the creativeness that's necessary for any kind of art. So, what Bob is explaining to me sounds simple enough and it sounds like I would be working with a team of graphic designers to do the whole magazine layout and everything. I'm worried because I really don't know what this is like and I heard before I talked to him that he offered training which really had me interested in the job, but now it seems as if he's expecting me to already be well rounded with this exact graphic work. This job interview is scaring me further away from going to college to become a graphic designer. I would really rather not end up doing Programming. I know it pays well which had me interested at a young age, but now it seems entirely too tedious for nothing except money. So IT is my next choice, but I'm terrible with hardware and don't see myself doing that. I want my name in history and I want a better understanding of where I came from, how and why, but a career in the Science field looks grim because I simply don't think I'm smart enough or have enough education. That leaves me with something in the computer field which is good money and a very demanding line of work which is easy to get in to college for. Please do not give me a 50 word response on this. I'm looking for some serious, detailed and wise help here. Thanks in advance. So far, thank you skinny. You're the only person who paid any kind of attention to my actual questions. I have thought about going to see an advisor, but like you said, get many opinions, which is why I'm here. After all of your personal opinions, I will seek a professional one. Please, keep answering people! Do not say anything about the medical field again please. It's out of the question. I will be a scientist or an IT guy. End of story. Just help me figure out which, why and how please.Thank you Electic Witch. Nice to know somewhere near me shares my ambitions. I feel alone in this world. Now, about Tri-C. I plan on going to Cleveland State University for whatever I end up taking because my mom works there and I can go for damn near free and get grants for the rest. As long as I can get grants or and nice payment plan to go to Tri-C, I will definitely look in to that. I know about the weed thing, I haven't smoked in over a month and I feel great. I feel more clear headed and actually feel as if some of my memory is returning.Jana M, that is the most motivational answer I've read so far. Thank you very much, this is mostly what I was looking for. Stories from other personal experiences. I live in poverty as well which gives me all the initiative I need. That thing about asking yourself how much you care should help a lot. Best answer so far, detailed on courses and in what order and a person experience. You have no idea how much that helped.Electic, I just noticed your edit. "Or would you like to discover new stars and search for planets?" That's right along the lines of what I would like to do. Although actually going out and exploring planets/moons would be very nice. Just not sure if I could get over all the fears involved with space travel. Thanks luckyfive, very informative and helpful. I've actually typed things up and read them hours later, never waited days. I will try that. I also make pro and con lists for other things, but didn't do it with this decision. more

Resolved Question: How can I get my Dell laptop to start charging again?

I'm renting a laptop from a rent to own store. The other night my windows update was down loading and installing the updates so I left my laptop on and went to bed it was plugged into the charger. The next day I checked it out it was working fine. I shut it down n removed it from charger that evening I turn it on and the battery is low so I plugged it up to charger and it wouldn't charge at all! I plan on taking it back to store but I was hoping there might be some quick remedy its a holiday weekend and I need my computer for work. Thanks for any help if there is any! more

Resolved Question: Question about splitting utilities with roommate.?

I just moved into an apartment with a 31 year old woman who had been living here approx. two months before I had. Our rent is 400 (I was originally paying 450 for some reason but got it knocked down to 50 less) and I have no problems paying for gas/ele/water. The problem I DO have however is being charged 46 bucks for internet AND cable with I don't even own or watch TV. I literally sleep, work and write from my computer that does not have internet access but since I'm apparently paying now, use my laptop to hook into her ethernet. I was wondering if I should confront her about paying for cable as well. When I asked her to explain why I have to pay this she told me it was because Brighthouse has it all in a package. I'm wondering if she's just bull shitting me and telling me this to get more money knocked off of what she has to pay. The reasonable thing to do would be to sit down, compute exactly how much the internet/cable would cost altogether and take me out of any financial obligations as far as cable goes. My other question is if I should start using the apts. laundry service or not. My half of using the washer and dryer is 18.25 and I would like to know if the alternative would be cheaper. I swear I'm not a money grubber but in these times saving every penny counts. I'm almost wanting to move out just so I can keep track of MY OWN bills and not have to go through anyone else.To the last comment below. How is wanting to save as much as I can in this recession nitpicking? I also DID say I would find my own place so your comment was pretty useless. Also, why would I pay cable when I don't watch TV? You're an idiot.Btw I watch ZERO tv. None at all. She never said anything about there being a cable package until two days ago and since I don't watch it, wouldn't have known. Cable isn't included in our utilities. It's something she got on her own. I would appreciate it if ignorant, annoying people wouldn't bash me. Take your negative, irrelevant answers elsewhere. more

Resolved Question: Would someone be willing to donate money to help me out?

I unfortunately live in a part of southern New Jersey that makes it nearly impossible to work without a car. Hardly anything is within reasonable walking distance / biking distance from me. The places that are... I've tried countless times to find work at... but it's always the same story about the economy, cutbacks, etc. I'd work at MacDonald's. I'm not too "big" for that. They're not hiring, nor are they close. I'm 24 years old... and I can't find a job that I can afford to get to. I landed a job after months of searching and chewing up what little resources I had... but it's an "on-call" job at Lockheed Martin, as a Security Guard. It's about 25 miles from where I "live" which is with friends... (not roommates)... At times, I've been forced to sleep outside in the weather because I had no other options. I have wisdom teeth that are killing me... amongst... god knows how many other health problems being that I haven't had health insurance since I got out of High School. My options are: Save money for a vehicle... or Save money for an apartment in the city (Philly) where I can most likely find work within walking distance. The problem is... I don't live in the city... and I don't have a vehicle. And either way, it's going to cost money I don't have. My job never bothers to call me (not that they ever have open shifts anyway) but I'm the lowest on their list because they know my situation blows. I don't have good enough credit to get any type of loan. I'm not trying to be a beggar... by all means... but it's getting to the point where I'm going to end up on the street (for real) if I don't run into some dumb luck in my favor, or find some caring soul(s) to donate a little money. I can live off of rice and tap water... I can live without many things... But I'm at the point where I can't get any further than where I am on my own. (Fyi, I don't qualify for welfare.) I don't even know why... mostly because I'm a single 20 something year old white male with no children or mortgage payment/rent. *rolls eyes* But back to being serious... I need help. I have $320 and a 5 year old laptop to my name. I am open to suggestions... but I also appreciate anything you can contribute. (evankoenitzer@comcast.net is my paypal email). Please, don't bother posting ignorant responses from your parents office computer or if you don't know what it's like to have struggled for 6 years after HS, only to find yourself on the verge of homelessness but feel that it's your place to tell me "find a new job a-hole" or whatever... that is definitely unwelcome. To answer questions below: My parents haven't been in my life for many years. I DO crash at friends houses, but I don't overstay my welcome. And all my friends either have bitchy roommates or live with parents who aren't ready to adopt a 24 year old son. I started from nothing out of HS, got to a point of being okay, got terribly sick with Pneumonia at 18/19, wracked up a heaping load of hospital bills which destroyed my credit. Had my car shit out on me in my first year of college, forcing me to drop out, which cost me more money... And I've been struggling ever since. I'm not a deadbeat. I'm just stuck. I'm a hard worker who can't afford to get to work. There is no public transportation in my area. I need to move to Philadelphia... Life sucks. Blah blah blah.... And the guy who said he emailed me links, I can't find your email. try (evankoenitzer@gmail.com) Donations still welcome via paypal- evankoenitzer@COMCAST.net :( more

Resolved Question: Dell Inspiron 1525 recalls?

Just asked a question about a red line that has appearded and is going down the entire screen of my laptop, its actually moved to the left a little bit. Anyways, the guy who responded said there was a recall on the computer dealing with this situation. I cant seem to find the recall notice anywhere. Also, I didnt by the Dell laptop from Dell, it was bought from a rent to own store. And when I put in my service tag number to get technical help online, it said that my computer was made out of the country, and since I dont know where the computer came from, I couldnt get help finding out about the laptop. Does anyone know where I can go that will tell me about this recall, that is the only way I can take the laptop back. more

Resolved Question: Poll: In your opinion, which computer brand is best?

Resolved Question: Dell computer, hard drive question?

I have a Dell laptop computer that I rent to own. It has a OS of Vista Service pack 1, home basic. It is an Inspiron 1501. I it is a year old. It has used up 446 of ram and it has a capability of 512. When I got this I was told the wrong information. I was told that the computer was serviced and everything had been wiped out of it and it was like a brand new one for a cheaper price. I was not told that even though you do a PC restore, that the hard drive does not clear out. I found this information out today I took it back to the store because it was running so so slow and that is why I did the PC restore. So here is my question, Is there a way that I can deleted the hard drive easily or do I have to replace the hard drive? Thanks in advance for your answers. more

Resolved Question: Laptop infected with 3 different types of viruses. Can it be saved?

I bought a brand new dell over 18 months ago. It has worked like a dream since the day I brought it home from the rental store. I bought it at a rent to own store. The laptop has been paid off for about a year now. Last month, my husband was on the internet. The laptop started acting funny. It would freeze, then play, then freeze. I went on the internet to check my emails. A blue screen appeared then the computer shut down. My anti virus software appeared and said that it found a virus and had quarantined it. The next night the blue screen appeared and did what it had the night before. But no message from the software. In the middle of surfing the internet, the screen froze and another blue screen appeared and the computer shut down again. I finally took the laptop back to the rental store since I had a warranty on the laptop. The computer repair tech scanned my laptop and found 3 trojan viruses which had infected the hard drive. He said he wasn't sure if he could save the hardware or the laptop. The store manager said she would notify me by Wednesday (today) if they could repair it. I was given a loaner computer while mine is being repaired. I like the loaner, but it's a desktop and I'm use to the laptop. Does anyone know if a computer can be saved once it has been infected by a trojan virus? I feel like I've lost over $1500 which I paid for the laptop. The desktop PC is nice but I miss mine. Thanks for any answers. more

Resolved Question: Laptop or Desktop for an aspiring writer?

I'm getting a new computer this month and I'd just like to know which is better. I have very few choices because I'm doing it rent to own. I'm stuck between a Dell and an HP (I'll most likely get a Dell since that's what I have now, just a desktop). Anyways, the reason why I want a laptop is because I'm an aspiring writer. Writing by hand is very hard for me so I'm confined to my bedroom most of the time if I want to write. I'd like to be able to get out and go places and write. I don't want it for gaming or anything like that. I was actually thinking about this one. What do you think? Would it be good for what I want to do? http://www.shopaarons.com/sa/default.aspx?PID=894&SCID=74&tabid=227 more

Resolved Question: Husband's friend is getting a divorce & wants a place to stay- he's been @his mom's but now wants to live w/us?

So this is kind of a long story- My husband are mid 20's and so is his good friend. His friend has been having a lot of problems with his wife for about a year and a half now. He was one of those situations where they became pregnant so they got married thinking things would be great but they weren't. She had a child from a previous relationship and he did legally adopt that child, so now he had two. About a year and a half ago he told her he wanted a divorce, tried to get full custody of the kids. A lot of crap happened and she got pregnant again so he moved back in and tried to work it out. His wife doesn't work and has never worked, he is the one who works. She still says she needs "alone time" so she sends the kids to daycare a few times a week. About a month ago he started to tell her she needs to get at least a part time job- somehow they got into a big fight and she kicked him out and they are for sure getting a divorce. He called my husband yesterday and wanted to come up for the night to hang out then stay through today to watch the Super Bowl. He said okay, we hadn't heard from him since Christmas. He told my husband he has been living with his mom and it's crowded, small and awkward. He apparently asked if he could stay at our place. We have a spare bedroom for guests- our house is very small and we only have one bathroom. When I came home last night my husband told me about their discussion and said he can't just tell him no. So I said fine I guess, but it will be a little awkward for me. I am working a double today and my husband came up to talk to me during lunch and said that his friend, who is still at our house, started talking about splitting the rent, and how much utilities are... the whole sha-bang! My husband said he kind of kept changing the subject.... but what the hell is that?!?! He apparently wants to move in with us, like a permanant thing or something! I don't want to be a b*tch or anything but I like my alone time, our house is small and it just seems selfish for him to try and get in like that. On top of that why is he only discussing this situaion with just my husband? Don't I deserve to be present? It's kind of getting to me already... and I know that after a week or two I will probably be really annoyed. The guy is a nice guy and everything- he has a full time job so he will be gone for that BUT I do know that he likes to drink a lot and I am afraid he thinks it will be some party all the time at our house. I will become the third wheel. Since hubby already said he can't turn him out - what do I do? Just let it go and hope that either the friend starts wanting his own place or that my husband wants him out? Anyone been in this situation, on either side of it? Where do I stand here? My husband was like, if one of your friends was in this situation you'd tell her she could stay..... well yes that is true BUT none of my friends would do that for an extended period of time. A week or two, possibly... but long enough to start asking about rent and utilities.... c'mon here. Also--- I understand why he is trying to get in with us is because we have TONS of toy (50" LCD 1080p, 3 OTHER t.v.'s, a laptop, a computer, satellite, Xbox 360 Live, PS3, blu ray,--- tons of things...), we have no children and we live in a smaller town outside of "the city" so our rent is so low- it's 300.00/month! So if he offered to pay 1/3 or something that would be waaaay less than finding a place on his own. Please, advice! Like I said, I don't want to make anyone feel bad but I don't want to feel like a guest in my own home either. more

Resolved Question: Cost of an apartment for Three people?

Heya! My friends and I are planning to move out of the dorms and into an apartment together. It will be all of our first apartments. I've done some research and I think I've got some prices down but I need help on $$$ info. I'm aware everything will vary depending on location, but this is what I've brought it down to: Internet (high speed DSL)- $15/m Groceries- $200-$300/m Rent- $700/m Utilities- $150/m The apartment its self would be 2 bed, 2 bath since they'd share a room. We'd do our own recycling and we don't eat a lot and I didn't include dine out (if we ate at the dining center on campus) considering that would be individual costs. Two of us are huge computer people (I have three (Mac, PC, and an laptop), and he has a PC and a laptop) which we would probably bring along. We're not worried about furniture initially considering we'd likely bring whatever we had from home. We'd likely run on cell phones paid for by our parents unless there was an amazing Internet/cell phone/LAN line deal offered to us. That's pretty much our entire profile. Can anyone else give me any other cost info or correct the information I have now? We're all pretty frugal. Thanks! We live in California, so naturally everything's going to be overpriced. All research was done with CA keywords. more

Resolved Question: I can't stand being at home anymore. :( It's hopeless. How can I start to move out (i mean, properly)?

Hi.. I'm a 19 year old girl, currently enrolled this semester for my 3rd year in college and staying at home with my older siblings and some extended family. I am really sad, and feel very much frustrated about my life. I am a depressive person, I've been like this for 2 years now and it literally robs me off the full life that I want to have. Anyway, this -my parents and older siblings don't understand, all they want for me is to study an study and do well in school no matter what. Not mentioning still, that these siblings of mine, I don't get along with well especially my brother and SISTER who wants to control how I run my life. I feel really frustrated I want to move out. Btw, I LIVE IN THE PHILIPPINES. My parents who stayed in the US for almost 2 years now will be back next week here and in no way would they want this but they wouldn't understand(they're old, generation gap, and they would never understand, i tried it before and they don't care about their child's feeling, they're fixed on the philosphy that DO GOOD IN SCHOOL FIRST BEFORE EVERYTHING ELSE). I'd rather want to live on my own and make ends meet for myself than have to bear everything my SISTER IMPOSES ON ME (and soon both of my parents too when they come back) regardless of my feeling or what I really want to do in life. You see, family life here in the Philippines is like this, until u are fully grown up or finished ur college degree, you'll basically be directed by ur family, older siblings, parents on how u should run ur life, u cannot not neglect them, and sometimes, it's not even like this, it's the culture here that even if the children have work individually, they all still stay with their parents altogether. It's very common. And me, my problem is I don't feel good anymore at home, even though I'm still in my college level, It's really a struggle for me everytime my sister OR SOON MY PARENTS AND I FIND SOMEHTING WE CAN'T AGREE ON, or they push me to go to school and get up from bed and ask if I FINISH ALL SCHOOLTHINGS, etc, and it's not even only that, because from time to time, my SISTER or my BROTHER and I fight. And with my sister, you can't disagree on her without having a quarrel. She wants to control every aspect of my life and just wants to nag on me. It gets TO THE PHYSICAL LEVEL ALSO when she start to hit me and throw my things, and I'm like a 14 year old girl still being hit physically by an older sibling. I try to fight back of course but I would just be beaten up more since she's older and everything. It's really terrible. I live a life like this and I'm not even feeling good about myself. I get sad and hopeless most of the day but THEY DON'T CARE. My plan is to move out since last NOVEMBER when my sis beat me up so bad because I unknowingly shouted back at her. Although sadly, I still haven't done so since I bought a new computer first (A LAPTOP) so I can use it even if I move to another place and I also haven't found a good apartment. Now my plan has been refueled once again because this morning my sister and I had a fight. And I don't want to forget about this desire of mine to move out because what happens is that a day or two would past and I still haven't fixed it yet then and there's a moment of peace and quiet at home for myself for awhile and then I feel stuck again and forget about these hard things for a short time, but then again A FIGHT BETWEEN ME AND MY SISTER WOULD OCCUR(IT'S JUST LIKE A CYCLE) and I would REGRET SO MUCH WHY I HAVEN'T MOVED OUT YET. :( I can start on this PART-TIME JOB which can pay for around P10,000/MONTH and I have some savings in my bank account, and I think that would be enough to have me sustained for each month with my rent and electricity bills and my internet and maybe pay some laundry, but still I haven't decided on a perfect place for me. Though I can pursue looking around here in the Metro and do it as soon as possible. I can't let myself stay at home without going crazy. I can't stand being a robot and feel even more depressed each time because I cannot truly pursue my desires and have to bear just everything. And I'm not liking school anymore, not that I don't really like, but I have this problem that I can't focus for a continued time in school because of my depression =( and I'D JUST RATHER WORK. So even though I've been very down for the past 2 years, this certain thought of finally moving out and being on my own SOMEHOW ENERGIZES ME TO CONTIUE WITH MY LIFE AND WITH IT BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THE DREAMS THAT I REALLY HAVE. But I really have to go away from home. How do I start it? I was thinking of just leaving a letter to my sister this weekend and tell her I want to be on my own and live by myself. So I move out and start on my part-time job and follow my dreams. Is that okay? Well, I would like to hear some of your thoughts. I reALLY DON'T FEEL GOOD AT HOME AND I DON'T FEEL FREE. This feeling of freedom is pricelesss, no matter if people would say that you..(CONTINUED) This feeling of freedom is pricelesss, no matter if people would say that you should stay home more until u finish that education ur parents want and bear everything while with them since all these THINGS THAT you need are provided and food is ready and everything and u owe them, but it's not really the case- BECAUSE THIS FEELING OF BEING FREE AND BEING ABLE TO BREATHE EASILY without worrying how ur sister (or my parents soon) would check your actions but would not care if u already look so down or unhappy, is something that is Priceless. I mean for me..(continued)..But most of the time, I get overwhelmed by all these things going around my life and I'm left with no option but just to give-up. So you see how I'd rather just be free and try things on my own but at least I would be able to continue with my life. I have these dreams but my situation doesn't allow me to truly be the person that I want to be. And I just get more and more depressed when I stay at home, I just get to a fight with my sister or my aunt or soon my parents and they don't support me as I am. I really don't feel good. I'm a polyglot, knowledgeable in several languages because of my own huge effort since it's my real passion, and I'm interested in world issues, animals, environment, religion and philosophy, and all of these great passion of mine I couldn't truly put into FULL practice if I'm still bounded by MY SISTER'S OR PARENTS' RULES whilst them not caring a bit whether I feel good or not. Please help.. I am waiting to hear your thoughts.. I hope I could reallyI hope I could really move out. Thanks for reading this all. more

Voting Question: SHOULD I LEAVE MY HUSBAND?

Lately my husband and I never agree on anything at all. My husband says he is the man of the house and I don’t need to be making any decisions at all and I just need to listen to him. However, I told him 4yrs a go to remove his name from a home that him and his ex owned but in divorce decree the judge gave it to his ex. Now, the last 3 mo the people who live there didn’t make the house payments so my husband had to pay almost 3k to protect his credit. Now the ex wife wants to move to the house so we can’t rent it to other people but she doesn’t know when next mo may be next yr. I told him to rent the place till she moves in. He tell me to stay out of it. Also, he wants to buy 4k TV for his 10yr daughter from even though she has TV in her room already. Also, he wants to give his laptop computer to his daughter and buy new one. About all this he doesn’t want me to have a say. Well I have to since I make 7k a mo and he makes 3k a mo. Money doesn’t grow on trees and since I work and make income to I want have say where the $ go. I told him lets go counseling he says no. So I opened a new account to protect myself and our 1yr child. Married 3yrs, I'm 25 he is 34.  more

Married 3yrs, I'm 25 he is 34. more

Resolved Question: Is it morally right for my parents to look through my drawers, computer etc?

My parents have been looking through MY car, MY computer history emails etc., MY car throughout my entire teenhood. I am 19 years old now and it still continues. I am an adult now and last night they really stepped over the line when they checked MY personal laptop history, and read all my emails. They found out that I smoke weed and found all my porn sites. How fucked up is that? I ended up getting in a fist fight with my dad over it and I literally thought he was going to KILL me. I told them that I am moving the fuck out of here which I really want to do but i dont thin I can afford to live on my own yet. I only have 500 saved up and i need to pay car insurance and all that bs on top of rent. i only make 10/hr and bring in like 250/week....My dad is actually my stepdad and has supported me all through life nonetheless he is a total asshole and i hate him with all my guts. Do you think what he does is ok and would you move out in this situation? thanks more

Resolved Question: problem with vista?

Well i just went and got my laptop today from a rent to own company because my desktop is currently jacked up and i have to have a computer for my online courses. at the rental company it wasn't connected to the internet and it worked great. when i got home and hooked it up to my modem it said that the window vista program product key that was intered was incorrect and that my software is illegal. it gave me the option for an internet browser so i could buy a product code or something, but it won't let me boot up windows. the rental company will fix it on monday when they open, but in the mean time i have home work that requires word. any ideas on how i can get this to boot until i can get them to fix it on monday? i really don't have the extra cash to get something that i can get for free in two days. : ( more

Resolved Question: Jealous of a spoiled, adult friend. What to do?

I have a friend, who is 30 years old. We have been friends for a long time and we get along great. The problem is I am jealous of her because she is spoiled and has the perfect life. She has never had to struggle for anything. Her stepfather make about 40 dollars per hour and whenever she needs something she gets it. No matter big or small. She has received laptops, computers, jewelry, thousands of dollars and vehicles. Christmas time for her is like the academy awards. Her parents live in a 1/2 million dollar home. She has lived there for years rent free. She has her own place now, but she is on easy street. She gets a section 8 voucher, only works part time and gets paid cash fixing hair. She is now starting a business and I know someone is giving her free money for that.WTF. I care about her alot, but I can't help but be jealous. She doesn't know I am jealous of her. I come from a poor, working class family and I have never even smelled a new car. Why is everything handed to her?She is selfish and has never asked me if I need anything? Except for one time when she asked me if I wanted some chicken thighs out of her freezer. She gets section 8 because she does not live with her parents and I guess her income only counts. Parents income has nothing to do with it. more

Resolved Question: I am starting up my own online Business from home, What software, supplies, equipment do I need to start off?

I am in the process of starting my own Online Business (retail store), and I want to make sure that I cover all ends of the business part of it. What software should I have on my computers / LapTop? When starting a new business like the one I am starting, do I need to have Server's set up already? What equipment or Office products should I have in my Computer Room? (that is where my office for the online business will be for now, until I make good money and I rent out a office space / warehouse space somewhere) . Are Server's very important when it comes to running a business online? what advice could you give someone like me who is just starting off? I want to be prepared for everything, I want to work very very hard on Customer Service, I feel without a good Customer Service your company would not stand out as a reliable company, one that customers would spread the word about the service they received. Word to mouch is one of the best advertising tactics for any company. Any advice? more

Resolved Question: I would like to know what laws were broken in the process of this.?

On Monday, March 6th, 2008, I was working the office that I and a coworker pay rent for. I am 17, and he is 16, and we run an eBay store. My coworkers mom works in the same office, and was being acused of stealing money from person who owns the office, who she does finances for. My coworker and I had nothing to do with the situation, but were told we would have to leave. We had to give our keys over, and they changed the locks on the door. They asked if there was anything in the office needed to support of families with, or that we wished to take. We both said our computers, both our personal computers that we work on there, and a laptop I was also using. They said no. I told them I needed to laptop to do a report for school, and then told I could only take it if they could search it. I told them I did not want them to search it, but they did anyway and said it was ok. I do not know what they were searching for, and was never told what. Continued below. They then made us leave without letting us take our eBay inventory, and the computers we both said we wanted to take. They also said they would be searching the computers, which we disagreed with. There was no police officer present at the time, and they also did not have a warrent or any documents saying this was ok. They have shut down or eBay business for the time being, because we can not send out anything that was sold. We can also prove that from the office we were kicked out of, two days after we were kicked out of it, they changed our eBay account password. That means that accessed the email it was signed up on. They also changed our PayPal password. I would like to know what laws they broke if any, and any other information. Our lawyer we are hiring isn't taking us seriously right now, we believe because of our age. This would help him see that we are serious. Thanks!Well, at the time being, we didn't believe we had a choice. They made it seem that we didn't. They also had 4 or 5 lawyers present. We still do not have our stuff back.In response to Tom, my coworker is legally emancipated in the state of Alabama. The office was signed in his name, and the PayPal account is also in his name. Also, since we apparently messed up in just leaving without our stuff, can we be told "No" when asking to go get our stuff now? We were told that upon calling and asking to go get it. more

Resolved Question: What do you do if you can't take it anymore?

I moved almost a year ago to another state with my child to start a new life. I've done okay- got a job, an apartment. Unfortuneately I found it difficult to raise my child completely on my own so my mom and I agreed she could move here with me. The plan was that we would split the rent and she would watch my child sometimes. Great idea right? NOT. She treats/talks to me like I'm a little kid and undermines my role as a parent. Because my computer isn't working, I have to ask her permission to use her laptop(even though the internet bill is under my name). I have two bd but she prefers to sleep in the living room. I'm an early riser but she has been sleeping until 10:00 Am or later! She gets angry at me and my child for "making noise" in the morning. The worst part is she calls me CRAZY because I am very shy and don't have friends. What would you do in this situation? more

Resolved Question: im 20 and i wanna move out..?

i just turned 20 and i want to move out and be on my own and do me. i feel like being around this household is such a drag. i dont like letting my dad pay or ask money from him for my school expenses because when i do its like he owns me or he's in control of me. i feel like im being held back to what i can really do and unconsciosly its affecting me in my classes. im in a community college right now and im thinking of getting a student loan but i dont know if thats going to pay for the rent when i do move out. i do have a car and a laptop so i dont have to take the bus or buy a computer. what other expenses will i have to pay? i feel like i need to talk to somebody that can help me in my situation. more

Resolved Question: What's the worst that can happen to me for having credit card debt & can't pay it?

I'm on disability & can't find a job. I've been job hunting hard & I have no success. Also, I financed this Laptop from Dell, & it's not paid off yet. Would they take the computer back or would I just still owe money? This is a GREAT computer, & I can't afford to lose it. My rent is $335/month, while my monthly income is $657/month. I probably wouldn't be drowning in debt if I wouldn't have had to replace my valuables because of Hurricane Katrina. People tell me not to dwell on Katrina, but how can I forget about it if I'm still suffering because of it? I had to replace 93% of my valuables & my OWN brothers looted into my apartment & stole! I REALLY want to pay my debt, & I'm sad that I can't. I'm afraid to respond to the debt collectors' phone calls because they harrass & threaten me all day. & if they take my money, & won't have a roof over my head. I REALLY want to get 2 jobs or bust my butt to pay off the credit card AND student loan debt. I feel stuck. Do you have any advice?I'm trying to work my way to self-sufficiency. There are work incentives for Ticket to Work for Social Security to help us get to work. I have a mental disability. more

Resolved Question: My computer is relatively new. But now it's running slowly, and not showing pictures. What can I do to fix it?

Compaq Laptop; Presario C500 Windows Vista Basic Home OEMAct Rented from a rent-to-own store about three weeks ago. No outside damages, etc. It runs slowly, some websites take up to half an hour to forty five minutes to show up. Most pictures do not show up, they're the default boxes with the red x's in the corner. The internet provider is a Sprint Mobile Broadband USB Modem, for wireless. There are very few if any other programs installed into the computer other than the originals; and even some of those I have deleted from lack of use. AIM & YIM have been installed, as well as the CD program for the Sprint modem. more

Resolved Question: I returned a computer to one of those rent ot own places, now they are saying I didnt. what can I do?

So, I returned a laptop that I had rented from a rent-to-own place(quality rentals) and now I've been getting phone calls telling me I need to pay them or return the computer(that I dont have!)! I returned it because it was a piece of crap that was over 3 years old. I wasnt going to pay $120/month for an old, outdated computer. So, what are my options?I didnt get a receipt, they wanted me to come back later and pick up another one, but, I changed my mind(didnt want to exchange a crappy computer for one that would probably be slightly less crappy). which you are allowed to do. I'm probably screwed. more
