Open Question: A certain friend is constantly upsetting me?! Help Please!?

Okay, so I have this friend who is constantly being mean and rude and using me! She used me and made me cry and made me so upset i left her house at 4:30 in the morning. She made me do work for her all day and ignored me the whole night and she was rude and made snobby comments to me the whole night. She made me Paint her whole bedroom by myself as she watched movies and when she was done she strolled into her bedroom and commanded that i fixed certain things as she sat on her bed with her laptop as i strained to paint and work and clean her room for many hours! She laid there and watched me and slammed the door on me and played the silent game at me.She made me feel so awful about myself and feel like i should say sorry to her when really i didn't do anything but be nice to her and offer to help her and pay for her when she needed cash. I didn't have to even be there but i ended up doing ALL the work as she sat around and demanded me to attend her wants and needs.(also it was hell painting her room till 4 in the morning because not only she was acting awful her room was not anywhere ready to be painted and all i had where fat brushes and a tiny stool to keep moving and standing on.) I need help on how to handle her?! She hangs around all my friends and i don't want her there and now i feel like i can snap and go off on her and i don't want to do that and upset anyone but i SOOOOO don't want her pushing me around and being rude and ignoring me?..Should i tell her Off and make her go? or just drop it and get treated horridly or what?!?! also she is great for stealing friends and lying when someone upsets her. I am currently trying to extend an extra desktop from my laptop to an old monitor I found in the basement. I plugged it in and it clones from my laptop to the monitor fine but I cant get them to be two separate screens. I remember I have done this before when I was running Windows 2k but I got an old copy of xp from my uncle along with a new laptop but my new one broke due to the fact that it had a giant proccesesor and gpu crammed into a tiny space. To cut a long story short bits and parts of the integrated gpu and motherboard melted all over the case. But back to my question. So i know my gpu in the old laptop (the one I am currently using) is capable of what I am trying to do. But xp home doesnt have the same dual monitor support built into the properties and settings window as 2k did so I cant figure out how to extend instead of clone my laptop to the extra monitor. I could use catalyst control center to do this but my laptop is so old I dont even know if ati made a catalyst for my gpu. My Gpu is an ati rage mobility, yeah i Know its old but could someone please help!!! I know it is possible I just havent found a way yet. I am open to any ideas and suggestions. more

Open Question: IPod Classic Trouble, Can't find answers anywhere else...?

I've had my Ipod Classic for a bit over a year and a half...and when I went to unplug it from my laptop because it had frozen up, it went from the disconnect thing to the apple logo. Open Question: Cracked computer replacement cost?

My laptop isn't cracked on the screen, but on the bottom left corner. At first it started out small, just the tiny making of accidentally dropping it. Eventually, it somehow managed to grow in size. Now the only thing keeping the corner intact with the rest of my the laptop is a piece of duct tape. It's only the outside edge, though. The inside is really bad, too, just not as bad. It's ripped off to about a quarter of the way there. It's so bad, the innards are easily seen, and nearly falling out. I can't even shut my laptop in fear of doing it in! I was wondering if I were to take it to Geeksquad, and they weren't able to do anything (I'm sure they'd be able to, but just incase.), would I get a bit off of the fee for a new laptop, or would I have to pay the full price for a replacement? Open Question: Problems with my sound on laptop, help?

Before I had my friend fix my Lenovo laptop/notebook, the sound was great. there are two speakers on the left and right side next to the keyboard, and a subwoofer on the bottom of the laptop. The sound used to come out of the side speakers and it was amazing quality, but my computer got too many viruses and just kinda crashed, it wouldnt work. My friend is great with computers, he's going to school for them and he can fix virtually any computer, but when he did mine, everything was great and all and much faster, but the sound is crap. now it only comes from the bottom subwoofer and its so tiny and you can barely hear anything at all. I tried many things to fix it but i just cant, can someone help? When he fixed it, i think he did something to download stuff from his laptop to mine, and his computer is kinda old, not really, and has really bad sound, idk what he did but now mines sucks. If you need more info or for me to be more specific, simply ask. thanks more

Hello, nice and helpful Yahoo people. :) Once again, I have another question for you brainy folk. Right. I opened up my Desktop computer's case, with the plan of applying some Thermal Grease to the Processor. I made sure the computer was unplugged from the mains, all peripherals were disconnected.. etc. I had some difficulty removing the heatsink fan block from the Processor. But with a little force, it unlatched. HOWEVER, my screwdriver slipped onto the motherboard. It might be nothing.. but there was a tiny, silver rectangular bit of metal that was lying loose on the motherboard after that. And the processor had an absolutely tiny scratch on the very edge of one of it's corners. Anyway, I applied the grease, and put everything back together properly. But when I turned the system on, the monitor stayed black. Normally, it would make a click sound, and I'd hear a load of static, before the screen came on. So I disconnected the monitor cable, and "No Monitor Signal" appeared on the screen. I tested the monitor on my laptop, and it worked fine, albeit with the wrong resolution, Just curious as to what's wrong with the desktop. I didn't disconnect any internal cables or connectors. I don't think that tiny bit of metal is a concern, as I checked the motherboard over, and nothing looked damaged. My brother's furious with me, as he used the Desktop more than I did. Guess I can kiss my netbook goodbye now, then. *sigh* Well, you can all call me an idiot, as I do deserve it. but if one of you could give me a resolution to the problem, that'd be great. Thank you for any replies.Some additional details on this matter. I used a pin-head sized amount of Thermal Compound on the processor. I spreaded it out evenly and thinly. I know applying too much can cause problems with CPU's. The Desktop computer is a really old one. It's specs are: Amd Sempron 2800 (2.2ghz, I think) 512mb ram. (Two sticks) 60gb WD hard drive. Via Unichrome 32mb internal Graphics. So yeah.. it's old and crap, basically. I'm sorry I can't be any more specific. But I've checked the internals for the 10th time, and everything is connected properly. All the fans are working, the hard drive makes sounds of life, and the keyboard lights come on. Like the helpful chap said in reply.. I think I may need a new motherboard.. *sigh* Thank you all for helping me out. And thank you to any new replies.Yep.. grounded myself with an anti-static wristband, bought from the computer store up the road. ok so i have an hp omnibook 6100 that has windows xp on it and has 1133MHz and 1.13GHz and 384MB of RAM...i want to buy a new hp laptop with windows 7 or xp...either one is fine...NOT VISTA...and i want it to have A LOT of speed, a TON OF MEMORY...like major memory...preferably a black laptop, but silver is fine too...and the screen can be NO LARGER THAN 14.5 INCHES AND NO SMALLER THAN 12 INCHES!!!...12 inches is preferred...and something with music buttons preferably on the right side of the laptop..but the front is good too and so is the left...just NOT on the top part of the keyboard...and it has to be able to play DVDs and CDs and MUST HAVE A CD BURNER...and id like the backspace button to NOT be tiny...u know just make it an average size one...and it must have the ability for speakers to be plugged into it...AND IT MUST HAVE MICROSOFT OFFICE ON IT!!...THE FULL VERSION...NO TRIAL CRAP...a cool design on the lid of the laptop would be awesome too...and id like the laptop to be within the $0-$500 price range...$700 being the ultimate maximum price...id like to know all the different laptops that are out there that have ALL of these qualities...brand doesn't make much of a difference as long as it's an HP and NOT A MAC!!! Resolved Question: im confused about rules in the b&b for homeless people. help!?

all the rooms have a tv in them and one of the first rules is that you cant bring a tv of your own or a dvd player or anything like that which i figured was to do with tv licensing or something but then the woman telling me the rules randomly came out with 'hair dryer is ok' which made me think maybe its actually to do with electricity usage. now im really confused.....can i take a laptop? also, youre not allowed alcohol on the premises and arent allowed in if youre drunk, but i went in completely wrecked (in my defence i was grieving). i managed to walk relatively straight but i stank of alcohol and was wearing a tiny little top on a freezing cold night because id lost my coat somewhere in my friends house while i was out. i thought they wouldnt let me in the b&b but when they woman came to the door she was just like 'are you not cold?' and let me in. so do you think maybe that rule is only really enforced if they think you'll cause a problem? and lastly, something not mentioned in the rules at all- do you think theres any chance of being allowed small pets there if theyre kept in the cage? im pretty sure its a big fat no to that lol but thought its worth asking. i realise i should ask the people who run the place but they dont have the best english which is why im asking on here but obviously i will try to get their confirmation after getting answers on here, especially the pet thing more

There''s a tiny little hole in my lap top screen and I don't know how it got there. It's not really a hole, but a tiny black spot that stays there. It's not even as big as a pencil tip, but now that I know it's there, it bothers me A LOT. Is it from something I did? Resolved Question: Is it fair that my half sisters get the biggest room and me and my brother have a tiny room?

My half sisters are 3 and 5 and have the attic room which is huge runs the whole length of the house. My twin brother and I have just turned 19 and share a tiny room (8 feet by 9 feet), we both go to uni and found it was cheaper to stay at home that live on the grounds. Our half sisters have double beds each and we have to share bunk beds with a top bunk that's too dangerous to sleep in so one sleeps on the floor most nights unless it's really cold and then we share the bottom bunk. Our step dad refuses to get new bunk beds or fix it. The two girls have expensive laptops, we have an old computer made up of found parts what a friend built for us and it's very slow. Our room is the only room not heated as the house didn't have any central heating when we moved in and to save money they didn't put heating in our room and won't let us have a plug in heater. We both pay rent to stay at home as well as buy our own food and cook for ourselves yet our step dad always cooks for our half sister's using our food. Expects us both to baby sit at the drop of a hat, I've already missed two lectures this year because I was forced to baby sit because my step dad couldn't do it as he was sleeping - he works nights and my mum works 9-2. We help out on chores which we don't mind just it's becoming we do everything except cook dinner for our mum, step dad and half sisters. When we suggested moving out as we had found somewhere mum and our step dad refused to let us go. more

I recently had to have a new hard drive put into my laptop. My other one was corrupt. Well, the problem is that when I got it from the repair store, it was a bare computer with nothing installed. My problem is, now on a lot of websites, I cannot see most Unicode symbols. I used to see them with no problem. But now they look like two small numbers inside a tiny box. Which I guess is the actually coding instead of the symbol itself. I found a site that directed me to the Regional Options in the Control Panel. But when I tried to do it, it asked for my Windows XP CD. Which I do not have. So, my question is.....is there a way around this annoyance? Or am I stuck in this non Unicode world forever? First and foremost, I'm homeschooled. So I'm usually home most of the day. I stay in my room most of the time. Basically I have no reason to leave. I have my phone, laptop and music in here. I have three brothers who my parents don't discipline at ALL, and their really wild and always yellling and fighting and breaking things. My mom always yells at me because I stay in my room. But I hate leaving it! It's loud and stressful, my parents are annoying and my personality is so completely different from there's, it just doesn't work out. I'm very calm and easy-going, and my family is hyperactive and insane. She threatens taking away my phone and computer for weeks at a time if I don't come out of my room and 'be a part of my family', even if I didn't even talk to them, just sat at the table with my headphones in. Also, I'm not a bad kid. I do my chores, school, I never get in trouble when out with friends. But if I make a tiny mistake I get grounded from everything a week. My brothers who are definitely old enough to know right of wrong could get away with murder. I think it's 'cause they don't have power over them so they don't punish them, but since they have worlds of power over me they go a little crazy with the punishments. I'm just not sure this is very fair. Should I try explaining to them? I'm always afraid to talk to them because usually they ignore everything I say. more

Ok so my boyfriend and I have been together for a little more than two years, and in September, he got angry and kicked my car and punched my arm. It didn't really hurt, but it surprised me and scared me. So on Tuesday we were going to school and he was stressing about being late to a class, but I felt like bugging him, so I was playing with his ears, and squeezing his cheeks. He got mad and pulled my hair, he pulled my head onto his lap, and my head was hurting for 2 days. He apologized like crazy, and he said it was because he was stressing, that he didnt mean to take it out on me. On Thursday, we went to school and everything was fine, we were going to hang out, and he said he'd go home and change then come back for me. Usually it takes him 15 minutes, but when I didnt hear from him for 3 hours, i went to his house for my laptop and it turns out he'd fallen asleep. I got upset and we ended up in a huge fight about stuff that wasnt even on the subject. He pushed me and I got mad and pushed him back. I know I was mistaken also cause I broke his charger for the laptop. It ended when he kicked me and his mom saw. Before i got home, he texted me saying sorry, and that now thanks to me he was getting bit***d out by his mom. I'm not tiny or frail, but he is bigger than me, and a lot stronger. He is 6ft, and loves to work out. Overall I am happy, but I don't want this to keep going on. I am 19, and he's 22. We had just planned on moving in together, but now I am scared. I can't blame it all on him, cause I know I got upset too.. Is there anyway I could help him realize how i am feeling?? more

How long do these tiny memory cards last? I've heard people use these for permanent storage. Will it average about 3 years of moderate reading and writing from devices such as a cellphone, cameras, laptops via usb adapter, etc? I am looking to get a 4gb or 8gb micro SDHC memory card for moderate to heavy uses that I mentioned above. I've had a 2gb non high-speed (non-sdhc) micro card for well over 2 years and no problems. Which is the best brand in your opinion? Kingston, Trancend, Ridata, SanDisk, etc. Is the best format / file system type for these cards? Fat, Fat32, etc. Why do people get corrupt data or failed cards? I've never lost data yet and I heard most cards have a lifetime warranty. Alot of questions so thanks in advance!!! more

Ok... my mom makes me come over to look at her tiny laptop. It's got a BSoD, and here's the gist of it: Prob's been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart. If it appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure you have adequate disk space. (she does.) If a driver is identified in the stop msg, disable the driver or check for driver updates. Blah blah blah, and then... Technical information: ***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC000001D, 0x80537008, 0xF79AF508, 0xF79AF204) Prior to the BSoD, I'm given the usual black screen of choices... I can't get safe mode to go past the file scrolling... seems like it locks up. No safe mode choice works. The start Win normally and the last known good config don't work either... just tries to load Win and then gives me blue. It's a HP Mini 1000 with Win XP. Thanks in advance! :) more

Resolved Question: Laptop disc drive cover broke off, repair?

Okay well it didn't just break off...I did pull at it when it was stuck and just the cover came off. Yes, I know I'm horrible for doing that. The cover would snap right back on but one tiny plastic part broke off and now that part won't stay in it's spot because it can't latch on. I feel like such an idiot. Is there any way just to get this part repaired or would I have to get a whole new external drive? more

Resolved Question: Internet Password Help!Please!?

I am going to stay at my uncles for 4 days, and i dont know his internet password and he doesnt either. I am bringing my laptop, and was curios if there was anyway to see the passwords from ethernet plugs you plug in so that i can go around with wireless, and not have to be in that tiny room. Ever since I was tiny I loved books. I devoured them, loving trips to the library. But when I was twelve or thirteen I got distracted by schoolwork and social events, I got a laptop. I didn't read for two or three years, and my family was worried. They began to pressure me to read books again, and bought me some. I want to be a writer. I'm happy reading fan-fictions and the like, but I can't seem to settle into books any more. I can't concentrate and get distracted. I remember I used to love getting lost in other worlds and am jealous when I see people stuck into a good book. I feel like I'm getting into one, then I lose interest. Please help. The internet has stopped me reading, and I really want to get back into it!!! more

Hi i previewsly ask for something similar. My apoligies but i cant acces that account and so i will re-enter anyone with full gredited ratings who ever answers the best question** QUESTION: QANTAS domestic from BNE to MELB for a weekend holiday lets you carry free upto 7kilos on a carry on bag, Luggage which are these big suitecase can not be more then 20kilos This is what i remember back last year. How about VIRGIN BLUE ? Just economic traveler nothing to do with business class or such as i wont pay that much for business just because i want to carry lots more kilos. I will be taking a laptop bag the laptop bag is aprox 20sizes from the side because the LAPTOP is 18.4 sizes screen. When i hold the bag it feels heavy and whats in the bag is just the mouse and the laptop and allready feels heavy. I think it feels just about 7kilos But the problem is that the bag would look empty with just a mouse/laptop and thats it. I want to add things like papers pens... perhaps magazines and 3 disk and charger.. total would be probly about 8 and a half kilos to about 9kilos unfortunaly. Qantas says you can not carry more then 7kilos or they will make you take things out of the bag. Also im going to carry on my arm a thick winter goated jacket. There will be myself my mother and father each one will carry a winter jacket on the side of them. each one will also carry a carry on bag so for them both they wont be carrying more then 7kilos.. But i will because the laptop is heavy and the whiole bag feels heavy with the laptop.... I will also carry a video small camcorder on the side of my hand maybe a little tiny camcorder bag. This means i will caryr a laptop bag which will be like 9kilos heavy... a thick jacket on my arm and a small camcorder bag that wont be more then kist 2 or 3 kilos. So could i bring all this ? will they charge me? how much... what might happen? I dont want to end up going around in circles and realise i have to take things out of the bag and improtantly i wotn dare put my 18.4 sizes laptop in my large luggage because it could break by the cargos. I dont no if VIRGINBLUE is made easier but i know JETSTAR will defently be bad for all this. So its either QANTAS or VIRGINBLUE --------------- I just went to a travel bag shop they had something like a hook scale to waight the bags.... its like a digital display with battery small aluminum hook that you hook the bag and it will waight the bag,. it cost 49.00 dollars... Do you think these things are really worth buying or are these things are not acuracy ? i dont no how thats going to work because my laptop bag is very heavy and abit too big to waight that with that hook. Resolved Question: Is it possible to replace a keyboard on a computer? Gateway?

I don't know what kind of gateway I have, but it's kind of compact and smaller. It has a very nice and unique keyboard, but it's simply falling apart from wearing out. Two of the keys popped out and refuse to fix, one of them has it's entire cover removed so all I see is a little blue covered silver dot for my C key. Other buttons are starting to fall out, and my space button has these two little wires that makes it not picky of where I hit the button, but now two tiny metal pieces broke and now you can only hit it in the middle to work. This is extremely frustrating as I have OCD and must make my typing perfect. I took some videos with my mobile phone from when i went to the arena other night and took the tiny sim card from my phone and put them on my laptop but when i click on them nero media player comes up and then i get the message audio source plugin error file invalid which means nothing to me so is there no way i can watch these back now ? there not on my phone now either as put to move them to my pictures on laptop .have downloaded it and it played them but no sound but just glad to beable to see them thanks. Tried other way as suggested with media player but no joy. more

I only eat the yellow and green ones, because In my opinion, there the nicest. Once I finished those, I offered the business man opposite the rest, but he didn’t take them. He said “They are full of artificial colours and flavourings. I do not approve” and then went back to tapping keys on his slick laptop rapidly. What is he, some sort of food hygienist? So I got up, walked out the cabin door and walked down the hallway until I spotted a little boy sitting with his mother. I knocked on the window and walked in. “Excuse me, but erm- you see, I don’t like skittles unless there green or yellow so- do you want them?” I asked holding them up -smiling like a psychopath- to show the ginger, blue eyed seven year old. He licked his lips then nodded and turned to face his mother. “Mumma, can I have them?” he wondered in his high pitched soprano. I let my arm drop realising that I had been standing there like an idiot waving them around. “Corse sweetie.” she smiled and bared her sparkling teeth. I gave them to the tiny boy and he dug in, scooping out the red ones first. The mother mouthed a thank you and I walked out to rejoin my unfriendly neighbour in the business suit. I do that sometimes when I’m nervous, talk with an accent. He looked up, pulled a confused face, shook his head and said “That’s none of your business.” I nodded, bit my lip and fiddled with my fingers. “Oh okay” I muttered and busied myself by looking through my bag, when I didn’t particularly expect to find anything. I gave up and put my hands on my lap and swayed “So, is it what spies say “If I tell you, ill have to kill you” sorta thing?” I laughed adding a manly tone. “no.” he groaned. This time he didn’t even look up, I didn’t even see his mouth move. “oh, okay. I understand. You don’t wanna tell me that’s fine. Because its not like I wanted to know in the first place. Honestly it doesn’t really bother me that your sitting there obviously trying your hardest to ignore me when I’m only being polite and trying to make a conversation.” I shrugged “But its fine. No, its great.” he looked up “Fabuliso” I looked up to the ceiling and said in a French accent. He opened his mouth to say something- “attention passengers, welcome to New York City. I hope you enjoyed your journey-” the annoying man announced “Ha-ha, well this has been fun” I told the business man whilst grabbing my suitcase and swinging my backpack over my shoulder. “erm- bye” I waved and in a desperate attempt to escape, I banged into the door. “Handles- stuck” I laughed nervously and tugged on the brass hook. Voting Question: Is my laptop salvageable?

It's an HP Windows XP 2005 Edition. Every time I turn it on, these tiny vertical and horizontal stripes fill up the entire screen, and I can't move the mouse, and have to hold down the power button to turn it off. It doesn't start like this, but after a few minutes this always happens, before I can open anything on my desktop. No water damage as far as I know. Do you have any suggestions of how to fix it? Do you think it's time to get a new laptop? If so, what's you're reccomendation? more

We want to watch the "Instant movies" that you can get directly to your computer from Netflix (yes, Macs are now supported to receive them), but we would like to hook the Mac to the TV so that we don't have to watch a tiny laptop screen.
