Open Question: Internet Help > Trouble with Internet < Read Description?

My internet isn't working. Each time I go on a website it takes like 3-5 minutes to load up completely. Once a website is finished loading and the next time I go on it ( without clearing the history ) it loads fast again. BUT, YouTube.com loads up and all the stuff appears on the left side, the page is all white and hardly any graphics. I am using my fast laptop. I am currently using Google Chrome. When I use Internet Explorer 6 it still loads slow. My other slow computer when I use Internet Explorer 6 loads up faster. People tell me to clear the Cache but I don't know how to or where it is. I have Flash Player, but not sure of Java Script ( I think I don't have Java Script). So can anyone please help me out? Also I may email you if I have questions. Thanks.. more

I want to make a lightbox program for my laptop, so that I can use it to ink some images onto a separate pages, giving me clean results. No pressure is gonna be put onto the screen, so no worries about damaging it. I don't have any programming software installed on my computer atm, so I was hoping that there was some other way that I could do this. I do have an image, that when in Slideshow mode, makes the screen white. Is there maybe a batch file I can write, that causes this slideshow to switch on? more

Just brought a brand new laptop and on 4 occasions in 1 week my laptop screen has gone off what it was originally on and shows black and white chequered lines all across, about 5 seconds of that screen, it then turns into about 15 bold red lines coming down vertically on the screen in which i then have to restart the laptop by holding down the power button. Open Question: I bought a western digital For Mac hard drive and i want to share it with both my mac and pc how do i do this?

I have both a macbook and a pc desktop. I would like to share files between the two... like when i am out of town on a video shoot and bring my laptop with me. That way i can just grab my external and i'll have all of my files wherever I go. But, at first i couldn't even connect the western digital to my pc.... as was to be expected... But, after formatting to Fat32.... it still wouldn't read. There is also a white light flashing underneath a lock symbol... does that mean it's locked... i am not sure. Open Question: Why doesn't windows 7 work with regular dial up?

I have two sources of internet. dial up, since i'm rural, and verizon with the little white USB modem. Played hell trying to get usb to work, still trying to get dial up to work so i can still compute and surf when ive used up my 5 gigs on the verizon card. We have three computers. my wifes laptop, my daughter's laptop, and my tower. The wife's laptop is the only one that will use the USB, Haven't tried it with the dialup yet. Daughter's laptop won't do either, and my tower will do both on its vista hard drive, and neither one will work on 7 Why did i ever switch from vista? Plus, my Linux i have installed alongside Vista works either way, and it was free! a lot better than the $225.00 i wasted on 7. more

Open Question: Can the Boolprop cheat randomly crash your Sims 2 game?

Yesterday, I used the boolprop cheat for the second time ever. The first time I used it, on my old computer, I had no problems. Now I have a new laptop and I tried boolprop a second time, because I was trying to make a YouTube video and it made things a lot easier. Today I opened The Sims 2. Veronaville and my two custom neighborhoods were gone, the picture for Strangetown was a blank white square, and all my settings had gone back to default. I have no idea what happened. I didn't make any "object" people selectable, just a couple of Townies. What did I do??! Also: If I uninstall and reinstall both my Sims 2 Double Deluxe and University CD-ROMs, will it be set to default again and run normally? I don't see why it wouldn't be. Please, please, please answer... I don't think I'll ever use any cheats ever again... :'( more

I want to connect my compaq to my tv, it doesn't have an S-Video output only a VGA one. My TV only has RCA input (the yellow, white and red cables, I'm pretty sure it's called RCA). Well, it also has the other input where you plug in the digital cable thing and another Audio/Video input (only the white and the yellow ones) on the back. I saw online cables that are one end VGA and the other end RCA except every store I go to tells me that they don't exist. I'm scared to buy it online and it not work? Open Question: ? re: Netgear wireless internet?

I have 2 computers and a laptop that I bought all the 'Netgear' wireless internet stuff to hook up the computers. So the main one had the white Netgear box and the other computer had this plug this that went into the computer and a set up CD. The laptop also had a setup CD but does not use one of those plug in this in the laptop computer. (Now NOTE, I had my older sons do this for me a year ago and they told me what to purchase at the cable store. However, they recently moved to another state and can't help me with my ?'s). So, when I was at the cable store originally, I purchased like 3 'seperate' Netgear boxes. THE QUESTION: The second computer basically broke and I have since gotten a replacement. I tried the setup CD and I still have the plug in thing to put in the second computer (desktop) but it will not set up. ****QUESTION: Once you use these on a computer, can you 're-use' them on another computer -or- must I purchase a totally new Netgear wireless internet setup CD box with the plug thing for the computer???? My backspace key came off and still has the white, thin X plastic thing connected to the key portion that is off. It is intact but on the key portion. ok I'm 19 I am moving to a single apartment.. I need some help with decorating, and I'm on a budget. It has a kitchen area and a some space ahead of it. (I know it's a gloomy color but we'll work for it.) the walls and everything else is white. The kitchen table is attached and is marbelish color same shade as the carpet. The doors for walk in closet is wooden(it comes with the apartment.) I have a wooden rectangular coffee table table table with designed drawers under it. I have a mirror and a drawers under, a small worderobe with a mirror on both doors, a bookshelf with drawers under. a computer table, a printer, and a laptop. I also have a wooden smaller table for the tv but I just got a widescreen tv hanging from cealing. and put a nice vase in ther (but didn't feel it in. I also have couple of framed pictures/painting (most of them are small and black and white) I also have bunch of vases with nothing in them. By the way the wooden items are in different shades of wood and used so I would probably need painting them (color ideas?) I also have a sofa and armchair( light gray Milky color). and one brown sofa I was wandering if you could give me some creative ideas for decorating. I am on a budget, so can't spent more than 100$ how can I use the vases to combine the different colors, how to make the room less gloomy any poster ideas? anything you think will help please write.. more

I have threatened to commit suicide to have my way and went as far as putting a knife in front of my neck to terrify everyone. I have broken my laptop many times, tables, chairs, throw glasses and plates everywhere, bang my head against walls, ran out of the house screaming and I also feel like people are out to get me and conspiring behind my back to destroy me. Open Question: White Screen on a Toshiba Satellite A215?

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A215 off Craigs list in hopes of fixing it up. When you power the computer on it is just a blank white screen. No video. However, when you plug the computer into an external monitor the computer works fine. Not sure if it is the screen, lcd inverter, or video card. working, when i click on google homepage (or any other) it says at the top its powered by sky, and also it says our connection is connected. but it wont display any internet page, it just says "cannot find the internet page" on a white screen. its all connected properly, there just seems to be something stopping the internet being displayed for some reason!! any ideas??????????? more

Open Question: Help with dell studio xps laptop webcam?

I own a Dell Studio XPS 16 Laptop. It works perfectly, but today when I went to video chat with a friend, I appeared as just a white box on their screen. I can see them perfectly. The LED by the camera is not on at this point either. When I open Dell Webcam Central, the light turns on, and I can see myself and use that program perfectly- but still no video for my friend in video chat. Any suggestions? I've tried all the troubleshooting I can find but nothing really talks about it not working for video chat. Just for clarification- the camera IS working (and has worked in video chat before), but right now I appear as a white box in video chat. Help! more

Open Question: Laptop Hard Drive will not boot.?

So I was playing a game one day on my Dell Inspiron 1525 (Windows 7) when all of a sudden it seemed to almost be laggy....the whole operating system would freeze for like 2 seconds....kinda like when someone is driving a car and randomly slams on the break petal every few seconds. So I tried restarting my computer but it never came back =*(. I still get the opening "Dell" screen when it is doing it's BIOS thing (Which is also running suspiciously slow). Then it is a black screen for like 1 min then it says "Windows is loading files" with a white loading bar at the bottom of the screen. The next screen is the normal "Loading Windows" screen like Windows 7 is about to pop up...but it never does. I have tried hooking up this hard drive to my desktop but still no luck. I can feel the drive vibrating so I'm pretty sure the platters are turning, but I have no idea what to try next. HELP!!! =*( more

My laptop froze so I was forced to shut it down. When I restarted it my desktop background was white, the start menu and dock menu was gone and it was still open on the document I had been on. It all comes back to normal when I run explorer.exe but every time I start up my computer again the same thing happens. Do I have some kind of virus and if so how can I fix it? Open Question: Why is it so hard to connect your laptop to your Tv.?

I have an Hp pavillon Dv4 but it seems i am unable to connect it to my old Samsung tv. The Tv does not have the hdmi capability. The tv is just able to receive the normal ( red yellow white ) wires. So is there any easy way to connect them. I just like to watch movies on my big screen tv. I have noticed that the nokia n96 is able to output video and audio very easily. Why is it so hard to be done on laptops ?
