First let me tell you that, I just turned 14 and that I've only actually lived 5 years while it was the 90's from 95-99 so I don't exactly remember EVERYTHING from those times but I sort of grew up with a lot of the ways people live during those times until we just had to go on :( What I miss a lot was VHS tapes, I had so many, I remember I had like literally every disney movie made to man in VHS tapes, and I would always play them in my little TV that had both a DVD and VHS :( and I remember how disney channel and cartoon network and nickelodeon had like all these good shows, the last good show on disney was thats so raven but they killed it after that. I remember how I had never had a computer or internet (well I did once, but I was so little that my mom canceled it lol, but it was still fun with dial up hehe) and like all I would do is play with toys and watch a lot of TV and barney and stuff it was so fun. Also there was no recession and life was just simple and fun and safe, now life is crap, everything is digital and you can get literally everything on the internet and it's good sometimes but now it pretty much kills me, I wish I can go back in time and experience those days all over again, the days where they didn't have nice 3D life like movies and CGI, or all these mega games, where the only games they had were pokemon and mario xD ahhh the good ol daysAlso I find it really depressing that the last survivor of the Titanic died last year :( soon even more veterans of other historic things will all but go extinct, it's not only material things, just the feeling of those times and how they have been replaced with things that have no more meaning to them.Oh yeah and about MTV, that is one BIG thing, I remember seeing that staceys mom song on it, and now these days all they show are skanky reality shows.To be honest, I think that a lot of the stuff today won't be replaced anymore, I think in terms of technology evolving, it only get's so-so improvements, like Blu ray might eventually replace DVD but it's more of a storage/durability improvement, it's pretty much still a disk. Like google, youtube and all those stuff, they are relatively new as is the internet as a whole, it's something that will only get improvements but won't get replaced by anything else, it's permanent. That's another thing is that we won't be seeing anymore new or revolutionary technology and stuff coming out for a long time, we have pretty much milked this earth out of everything it has. more

Now, i know this usually has to do with the cache and temorary internet files not loading so i cleared all of my history and still didnt work. I tried to find out what programs that you need for cartoon network and I couldn't find it so i downloaded the main 3. Java, shockwave, and adobe flash. So i restarted and tried again. To the crowd over 30 When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways yadda, yadda, yadda... And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet . If we wanted to know something, we had to use the 12 year old set of encyclopedias we had at home or we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter....with a pen! We didn't have any of the fancy self stick stamps either, we had to lick them with our tongues and place them on the envelope. Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there! There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ's usually talked over the beginning and @#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like "Pong" , 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed! Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards! And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire .. imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot. That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980! Regards, The over 30 CrowdThis is a Joke. Please laugh or go look for your sense of humor. I wonder at times how come some do not know how to laugh.I grew up in the 50's to the 60's and I would never trade that time for anything now. I remember playing this game on the cartoon network website years ago, which was a game with all of the characters from their cartoons (dexter, johnny bravo, etc, i can't remember the others) and they all had to do jobs for each person/bring them specific items in order to finish the game. It was quite oldschool and I think it was set on like a tropical island. I'm fairly sure there was more than one version of this game. there was this show, i forget what network i think it was toonami. the show took place inside a computer there were a few main characters who looked human but had blue skin and all the extras were robots with either one eye or multiple eyes arranged strangely. Well lm going to make it short. My little brother is 10 years of age.His like a normal kid, but he still poops in his pants and doesn't go to the bathroom.He doesn't pee in his pants which is good. So anyways my mom is so tired of cleaning him all the time but he keeps doing it and well every time my mom would ask him why he still does that he always says this, "Oh l didn't feel it.". He hates my dad so much and hits him and the reason is ldk. My dad cheated on my mom with another woman and so l once asked him that why he didn't like my dad and well he said it was because he did that to my mom. I didn't like that either but l couldn't hate my dad because no matter what he is always going to be my dad. So one day when my mom and my little brother were in the room just relaxing my dad went inside the room and kiss my mom a goodnight cuz he would sleep in the living room and my mom and little brother in the same room, and so my little brother kicked him out and locked the room and did it with anger and crying and he would always do that every time he would go inside the room, but this time he took out an anger that we didn't know existed from him. My mom told him that what was wrong that why would he act like that if his dad wasn't doing anything to him. But then he confessed that he was molested when he was young at age 5 by his own dad and that's why he hated him so bad and never said anything cuz he was afraid that his family wouldn't believe him. But my little brother still has a mentality of a 5 year old and well she asked my dad if it was true and he denied it and said he might drink and get mad but that he would never do that to one of his children. My little brother told me the position he was in when that happened and that he took off his underware and took his off too and that my dad was touching him with his penis.He even told me what he was doing at that age when it happened he said he was 5 about to be 6 and he told me that when that happened it was at another house that we were leaving in before and he was in his room watching tv cartoon network,"Tom and Jerry" and that my dad was drinking liquor and that the rest of the family had gone to the store. He said that he raped him twice not the same day but that it was another day too. But my mom said that he never noticed anything wrong because she would still clean his booty at that age. So... I dont know what to believe and dont know if it might be true. I barely found this out yesterday that my mom told me. I was schoked and couldn't believe it but then again it might be true. I'm talking about DBZ, Outlaw Star, The Big O, Gundam, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, THE WORKS. Back when anime was being introduced to us, literally changing our lives because I know most of us, still like to watch anime. The amazing promos, you can't wait to watch whatever they were introducing, the music lol (Daft Punk, before they made it even bigger), the movies! I remember I saw all the Sailor Moon movies there and some DBZ ones. Also, the games they'd have us play like.. Lockdown, and which team was the best etc etc. I remember playing that on cartoonnetwork.com lol. But anyway, if you have memories of Toonami, back in late 90's early 2000, tell them here! I know Adult Swim is now the modern Toonami, I mean it's ok, they had great anime (Death Note), but some of the shows are not anime and they can be rather.. dumb. Ok a lil something I was writing, is it any good? "Mum, when is dad coming back?" I was finally starting to notice a strange portrait of my family. There were only two of us. Me and my mum. She was my world. Sure I had relatives, neighbours, friends. But they were merely moons and planets and she was the sun. But it was odd there was no male figure around the house. I always saw how the neighbourhood kids had their fathers, playing cricket with them, teaching them how to ride a bike. I would always watch from the distance, feeling inferior to join them. Perhaps mum noticed, she got me a bike even better than the ones the kids across the road got. Still, I had no one to teach me how to ride it. The bike was too big, far too big for me to get on without some help. One fall was all it took for me to quit trying with it. I saw how the other kids had their dad's pushing them along on the bike, and then let them go on their own. If only I could explain mum how to do it or if only she wasn't too tired from work! "He will be here for your 6th" "Am I having a party?" "Maybe" My mum would cry sometimes. For no apparent reason, so it seemed. I always felt uncomfortable when this happened. Sometimes I would hold her hand. But I prefer escaping to my own world. A world filled with imaginary figures crafted out of the peeling walls. A world full of broken toys and games that were as a wild as a child's imagination. A world where pain was not a part of. A world where there was me, myself and I. Bikes it seemed, was not to be my strength. Neither was cricket. Actually I despised the game. We always seemed to attract a bunch of people who come over to watch the match. They would always rudely disrupt my 5 o'clock cartoon network schedule! As for the dad question, I got tired of asking. I had a relatively quiet birthday party. Grandma baked me a cake and my whole class had cake that day. A bunch of presents from others. A single card from a man who claimed to be my dad. But no dad. Not ever. more

Resolved Question: What do I have to do to be an Animator?

I know people say if you can't do a Career you want to take you can always do the backup career you want to take. Well I'm trying to say that I would like to become a Animator. I wanted to take video game design but people tell me it's too hard and I could never get it done right. Well I choosed Animation instead because I grew up on Cartoons and I drew all the time when I was in Elementary School and I am getting better at drawing at the moment because I've been practicing, etc. Well what I'm trying to say is, What do I have to do to become a Animator? What course should I take in High School before I graduate my senior year this year? I know I'm going to try to get into Art because Art is really important in Animation. I've seen Nicktoons Network and they have inspired me to wanting to become a Animator as well. I suck at drawing Cartoons but I can sketch good. I also want to get into Claymotion, etc if that's possible. What do I have to study if I wanted to take it? And I also want to take 3D Animation also and make my own 3D Cartoons. But I don't know how hard that is. I can draw good but like I said, My Cartoon drawing skills suck. But I can sketch pretty decent. I would like to know how to draw people and landscapes, buildings, etc as well. My childhood Cartoon shows were, Rugrats, Doug, Invader Zim, Samurai Jack, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Teen Titans, and Catdog and I don't know if it's still too late to become a Animator. Well,I'm over exaggerating,but do you like what they show on tv now? It seems like every good tv channel is changing for the worst. Sc Fi changed it's name to "Sy Fy",and seems boring. G4 doesn't even show gaming stuff anymore. Cartoon Network has it's "Real" block. Animal Planet hardly shows documentaries,specials or "Animal Cops" anymore. The Science Channel hardly shows documentaries,or specials,on prehistoric animals anymore. Same with Discovery Kids,but with the it's prehistory based shows(they only show them in the AMs). I heard Discovery Health is going to become a channel dedicated to Oprah. Nick Toons is still okay,but it doesn't show the Rugrats(instead it shows "All Grown Up"),it now airs promotions/commercials,and it show 90s cartoons on the Week-..Oh wait,that's a good thing. Disney Channel is just..Bleh,the only good shows are showed in the AMs. Boomerang is..Still mostly OK.. Anyway,what's wrong with tv nowadays? Resolved Question: Do you think TV will Ever be the same for these networks?

When I was little on friday nights I used to watch Nickelodeon because they had good shows. I even asked my mom for Disney channel(got it for my birthday)and Cartoon Network. Now in this day in time it seems that nothing as good as those shows are on anymore. Nick had shows like Rugrats, All that!, Kenan and Kell, Rocket Power. Now nick only has The fairly odd parents,Avatar, and DAnny phantom as Good nick toon until they got ended or got canceled. DIsney had Talespin, Darkwing Duck,Lion king,Mickey mouse, etc. but now they have only phineas and ferb and went Live-Action teenage sitcom pop singer star on everybody. Cartoon Network is no better they took it form being about cartoons to live- Action also and they have terrible shows like The misadventures of Flapjack, Chowder, The secret Saturdays(bad rip off Johnny quest), Johnny Test(not as bad as the others it's the only good one out of all of the shows I named. They even "CANCELED TOONAMI!!!"(Even Canceled anime shows like Naruto before they finished) What has televison come too.This is horrible and I don't like how they are forcing kids to watch horrible shows that are not funny (sonny with a chance, flapjack, chowder,Hannah montanna,etc.) I have no beef with the actors or celbrities but I think they could turn the whole Live-Action thing around and use it to their advantage by putting it on a new network but they should stick to what made them famous like Cartoons and Kid versions of saturday night live with good writting, Game shows, and a unique animation style. Background: Nickelodeon Animation Studios used to be in Orlando Florida, with all the old school shows airing like Doug, Rockos Modern Life, Rugrats, The Angry Beavers, Ahh! Real Monsters! etc. But now the studio has been teared down and moved to Burbank California and Greater New York. Since then all those old classic Nicktoons and Game shows have vanished with only a few shows airing on Nick. I mean, what happened to these Nick Shows? Info: We Need to gather all the fans of Nickelodeon to write a Letter and send the letter to Nickelodeon saying that we need a Nickelodeon Channel that is similar to Cartoon Networks Boomerang Channel that just airs old Nicktoons and such. back in the days of cartoon orbit and all of that, i used to play a flash adventure game on the website. the premise was that you are on an island trying to solve some major problem on the island. characters from almost every series that was popular at this time were in the game. the ed's, cow and chicken, the powerpuff girls, johnny bravo, etc. you could go to all of their little hut beach bungalow things and talk to them to find clues to fix the problem. i distinctly remember beaches and a pool and stuff. i also remember a parking lot, for some reason. it was like a resort for cartoon characters. i also remember that there were more than one version of this game, where you solved different problems in each. i know i am not crazy and this game actually existed. does anybody remember the name or where i can find it online? i can't find it on cartoonnetwork.com, but that doesn't mean it's not still there. more

Here's the situation -- Gertrude used to be married to Rodney . Gertrude and Rodney have a son, Ralph . Gertrude divorced Rodney because he was abusive . After Gertrude divorced Rodney, she married my friend Sam . Sam and Gertrude are divorced and they have a son, Ben . Ben is eleven years old . Gertrude and Rodney are living together again to share expenses . Most people in town know Rodney has a history of violence . Gertrude was fired from the local Head Start Program for being mean to the kids . Gertrude tried to kill herself in front of Ben . When Gertrude had to go away for a while, she left Rodney in charge of Ralph and Ben . There was very little food in their house . At one point, Rodney admitted that all he had was one burrito for himself, Ralph and Ben . When there’s food in Gertrude’s house, it’s usually the wrong kind ( junk food, etc . ) . When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways Yadda, yadda, yadda And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take, like, a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents! Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe! There were no MP3' s or Napsters! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished and the tape would come undone. Cause - that's how we rolled, dig? We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win.. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel! NO REMOTES!!! There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards! And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove! Imagine that! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. I don't necessarily have anything against home schooling . I know most parents who home school their children are responsible people who really care about their children's education . I also know most students in a home school situation are responsible enough to do their schoolwork before they have fun . Home schooling works out for a lot of people . My friend Sam is divorced and has an eleven -- year -- old son, Ben . Ben announced that he was going to be home schooled . Sam and I didn’t know why Ben’s mother was going for home -- schooling all of a sudden . I figured she didn’t want to get up in the morning and get him ready for school . I also figured she wanted to be the one who decided what grades he got . Ben won't do actual schoolwork when he can have fun . Ben's mother won't MAKE him do schoolwork . If Ben is home schooled, he'll spend the next seven years playing video games and watching the Cartoon Network . Apparently, Ben wants to be home schooled so he can be closer to his mother . I don’t have anything against a child being close to his mother, but I wonder if home -- schooling is the way to go . Should an eleven -- year – old boy be making this decision ? Isn’t there another way for a child to be close to his mother without giving up on a school situation ? A lot of parents can be good teachers for their children, but letting her child run the show should demonstrate that Ben's mother isn’t ready to home -- school a child . It’s possible that Ben's mother is taking him out of school for her own selfish reasons . It’s easier to keep Ben at home and let him play video games and watching the Cartoon Network than to get up early every day and get him ready for school and worry about his grades . I've been having problems with a few companies and I was wondering are what they are doing illegal or just really bad? The first is Comcast. I have my tv through them and i'm sure a lot of you do too. I have been slowly losing some channels. I first lost TV Guide Channel. Then I just recently lost CMT, WB, and Cartoon Network. They are saying you have to buy some cable box thing to get them. I think this cost a lot since it gives you tons of channels. They haven't lowered the price of cable either. Are they allowed to take away our channels and make us still pay the same price? Second is whoever is responsible for the 360 version of Dead Rising. I noticed the text is way to small and blurry to read. All the websites I look up say it was made for the HDTV even though it still works on the regular TVs. The system cost like $500 and the game cost $60. Do they expect us to pay another $1000-$2000 for a whole new HDTV just to play 1 game? Shouldn't they be forced to make it readable on all TVs? more

Resolved Question: What do you miss most from the 90's and early 2000's?

I mainly miss the old Nickelodeon with shows like, Rocket Power. The Amanda Show. Rugrats. KaBlam! The Busy World of Richard Scarry. Little Bear. Old Cartoon Network shows like, Courage the Cowardly Dog. Johnny Bravo. Cow and CHicken. I am Weasel. I miss when MTV was all music videos and not stupid reality shows. I miss the good bands that turned to crap. Like Linkin Park and Alien Ant Farm. I miss playing the original SIMS. I miss RollerCoasterTycoon afterschool. I miss Age of Empires on the weekends. I miss good games on the Nintendo 64 and Super Nintendo. (I still own both) I miss when none of my brothers and sisters had no drivers license so we could all stay home and make up stuff to do. I miss going to Dallas to visit my grandpa while listening to my CD player. RIP Grandpa. I think it's safe to say that I miss my childhood. Now I'm 15. What do you miss most? more

Resolved Question: Is home -- schooling an expensive project ?

I don't necessarily have anything against home schooling . I know most parents who home school their children are responsible people who really care about their children's education . I also know most students in a home school situation are responsible enough to do their schoolwork before they have fun . Home schooling works out for a lot of people . My friend Sam is divorced and has an eleven -- year -- old son, Ben . Ben claims his mother is planning to home school him . Ben won't do actual schoolwork when he can have fun . Ben's mother won't MAKE him do schoolwork . If she decides to home school him, he'll spend the next seven years playing video games and watching the Cartoon Network . Sam and I don't trust Ben's mother to do what's right for Ben . We don't trust her as far as we can throw a piano . We don't why Sam's ex -- wife is going for home -- schooling all of a sudden . We think she's being very selfish . Ben's mother will give home schooling a bad name . Bad schools exist in the United States, but the schools in the state where we live are all eapecially good . Obviously, Sam and I are very much against Ben being home -- schooled . At one point, Ben asked Sam for some money to buy his schoolbooks . Sam is on disability, and Social Security pays his child support, so Ben isn't being neglected . Now, Sam and his ex -- wife are both seriously financially strapped . If Sam's ex -- wife has to buy a bunch of equipment and schoolbooks, everybody would be better off if Ben went to the tax -- supported government -- sponsored school for free . NOW --- is home -- schooling an expensive project ? Can somebody who's seriously financially strapped home school a child / children, or is home -- schooling only for people who make a lot of money ?
