...I am currently looking at getting a UHF/Digital antenna and had a question.I currently subscribe to Dish network for TV access, and want to remove the local channel option and then get a OTA antenna to pull in the locals for free, I just recently purchased two digital converter boxes:Zenith DTT901, which I see is supposed to be a pretty good model. And I am thinking about getting this antenna: Philips MANT940, which seems to be getting pretty good reviews as well, and I like the prices that I have seen listed online.But my question is what is my best option on integrating this antenna into my existing Dish Network setup. I have 2 standard def TV's that connect to the Sat controller boxes, via a Tivo Series 2 DVR.My current research gives the impression that I might need to get, some kind of Multi-switch, and diplexer's. But will I need both things or not?I would like to be able to connect the Ant. somewhere close to my existing dish ant. and then be able to view the digital channels OTA and have my Tivo DVR's at each TV record the local content. more

I just bought a Hauppauge HVR-1600 TV Tuner for my Desktop PC. I really want to use it as a DVR for sports games which are mainly on ESPN. However, when I go through the set up and check "Analog TV via Set Top Box" it allows me to choose a channel list from for example Dish Network, DirectTv, and C-Band. However, I have Cablevision, and that provider does not show up with a list of channels. Now I know I can manually add the channels I want, and I would gladly do that, but how do I know the correct channel numbers? I am just a little confused at this point. I was able to get the basic cable channels no problem. And the scan showed all of the encrypted channels, because I wasn't going through my box at that point. But now when I try to go through my box, none of the channels are tuned correctly. Any help is appreciated!!@ Robert Hauppauge only allows me to enter channel numbers. Not frequencies. And the channel numbers don't match up with the channel numbers I am used to. For example. ESPN is channel 36 for me, but all the channels it finds are labeled as 2000+ Secondly, I have a Cablevision Explorer 4200 Cable box. It has a simple cable in and cable out. more

Voting Question: My laundry list of home entertainment connection issues...?

Ok, where to begin? My wife and I recently received an awesome Christmas gift in the form of a 32 inch Vizio LCD flatscreen television. After buying a new television stand for the living room, we moved the old entertainment centered out, constructed the new one, and began the process of connecting cables... I have: A Dish Network DVR receiver A DVD player X-Box 360 I need to hook all of these up. Here's the thing, though. With my old television, I was able to run audio/video cables from each device to a four-way source splitter (you hit the button, the tv recognizes the source, and you play/watch/game whatever) with one single coaxial cable running from this splitter device to the back of the television, providing the necessary bridge to get a signal. We hooked everything back up and no dice. The only way I can get the X-Box 360 to display anything is if I plug the red, white, and yellow A/V cords DIRECTLY into the television. Otherwise, no. Likewise, the only way I can get the Dish Network to display anything at all is if I use the A/V cords for that device, unplug the X-Box 360 cords, and plug the Dish Network cords in to get a signal. Can anyone suggest where I may be going wrong, what I would need to buy, what I would need to inspect, what I would need to unplug and plug somewhere else to get the four-way box splitter to work with my television? Also of note, the four way splitter device requires the television to be on channel 3 or 4 to get a picture on the television. I have tried that, on both the Cable and TV inputs, and I still receive no signal. This might be an elementary problem to someone, I hope so! more

This is the ONLY football game I watch each year. It's an annual ritual, so to speak. This year I will not be home to watch it and I want to set my DVR to record the game while I am gone. The channel guide does not list ALL the college names. A lot of the games have TBA (to be announced). I need to know WHEN the game is on and What channel it will be on, so that I can record it on my DVR. I have DISH NETWORK satellite. CBS? ESPN? FOX? I just know that it is this saturday. Will it provide scrolling menus? How does it know schedules and channels with an analog provider? Do they make a two-room unit like Dish Network does? I just signed up for Dishnetwork and when I was looking at the channel line up, I noticed there were a lot of duplicate channels. Big Ten network is listed 10 times and there's two Animal Planet channels etc. Do different shows play on the duplicate channels at the same time??? Do they play the same things at the same time?? I live in southern indiana and have Dish Network. College football season is nearing and I just realized I do not have Big Ten Network anymore. I have the top 250 package and it's still listed on their site as being part of that package. I checked channel 439 and the over flow stations. It's non-existent. Recently switched from cable to dish. We see out-of-market baseball games listed on the AltSports channels but can't tune them. Should that be? My understanding of MLB blackout rules would prohibit us from viewing "in-market" games from any source other than the RSN with rights. more

First of all, get your facts straight. Cable Providers refuse to carry the NFL network unless it's a premium channel, the NFL Network does not want to do this because they are afraid they still won't get the customers that they need to make it a profitable decision. In return, the NFLN decided they will put it in standard Dish packages, and that the cable companies, if they want it, must make it a basic, expanded basic channel. Most cable companies don't want to do this, because then they would have to move a channel like Lifetime, LMN, Nickelodeon, MTV VH1, BET, CMT, TNN, the list goes on. Those stations, above and beyond, bring in more money than the NFLN would, because you have the football season, then nothing until draft day. There is several months in between of just garbage, and reruns of football games. BLAH. I think the NFL should stop being greedy, and just shut down the station all together. Problem Solved. more

Resolved Question: DISH Network Can't Find My Over-Air Digital Channels?

I have DISH-HD with a DVR. In my area, however, I can't get my local channels in HD. I got out my UHF indoor antenna and connected it via coaxial cable to the box and went through the process of adding local over air channels listed in the manual. Originally, the search found 10 channels, including six HD. The signal strength was not great, but it was b/w 60-70. (I live well within 15 miles of all local stations). Within five minutes, however, the HD channels that were now listed in my guide were not coming through when I selected them. Their analog counterparts came in fine. Additionally, I can't get any measure of signal strength on any channels anymore and the menu options where I search/add local channels does not even start a search. I bought a newer model indoor antenna with an amplifier but am having the exact problem with it. Does anyone have an idea on how I can find and tune into these HD channels that now seem to be hiding from me? more

This is something that happened recently in our house and is a good example of what happens probably once a week.... We recently changed our TV service from cable to satellite. I made the arrangements and set everything up. I got a copy of the list of channels DISH Network offers and e-mailed it to my wife, per her request. I asked her to review and make sure everything meets her standards. Two weeks go by, I don't hear a word from her on the service, so we get it installed. Sure enough, the next day she starts complaining because we don't get ONE channel that we were getting on cable, and she doesn't like the new service and wishes we didn't change. I gave her everything to review two weeks before installation. She clearly said "f" it, didn't read it (which I asked her to do), gave her a chance to reject it, and now she gripes. Why do women do this?Hey -- I've read posts up here from women generally categorizing men as lazy and that they don't do anything around the house, etc. Obviously it's out of frusteration. I'm in the same boat and am venting! more

i just bought an hd tv recently and i am about to get the hd channels but first of all its $20 addional on dish network and when i saw the channels list all the channels are garbage. especially when it comes to sports (football) (or soccer in usa) and so few channels have hd and perhaps the only good hd channel is hbo. and maybe tnt. i am wondering when will more and more hd channels become available as hd is currenetly WAY too limited. its not worth it and its a shame as i have an hd tv but its pointless to get hd programming as i will end up just watching regular tv. more
