Metropolitan Area Network Questions asked

Resolved Question: How can I make a case for using either RIPv1, RIPv2 or IGRP as my routing protocol on my network?

OK, here's the deal: I'm on a network with T1 connections to three other company offices in a large metropolitan area network. I also maintain dialup connections to four sales offices in town that sell my company’s products. I have ISDN lines to backup the T1 connections between the larger offices and I'm using only Cisco routers. Any ideas, pointers etc. would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! more

Voting Question: i need help =[ oh plz?

backgroud of case relevant law the issue reaction criticisms Clark v. Community for Creative Nonviolence CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA CIRCUIT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No. 82-1998 Argued: March 21, 1984 --- Decided: June 29, 1984 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JUSTICE WHITE delivered the opinion of the Court. The issue in this case is whether a National Park Service regulation prohibiting camping in certain parks violates the First Amendment when applied to prohibit demonstrators from sleeping in Lafayette Park and the Mall in connection with a demonstration intended to call attention to the plight of the homeless. We hold that it does not, and reverse the contrary judgment of the Court of Appeals. I The Interior Department, through the National Park Service, is charged with responsibility for the management and maintenance of the National Parks, and is authorized to promulgate rules and regulations for the use of the parks in accordance with the purposes for which they were established. [p290] 16 U.S.C. §§ 1 1a-1, 3. [n1] The network of National Parks includes the National Memorial-core parks, Lafayette Park and the Mall, which are set in the heart of Washington, D.C., and which are unique resources that the Federal Government holds in trust for the American people. Lafayette Park is a roughly 7-acre square located across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House. Although originally part of the White House grounds, President Jefferson set it aside as a park for the use of residents and visitors. It is a "garden park with a . . . formal landscaping of flowers and trees, with fountains, walks and benches." National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, White House and President's Park, Resource Management Plan 4.3 (1981). The Mall is a stretch of land running westward from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial some two miles away. It includes the Washington Monument, a series of reflecting pools, trees, lawns, and other greenery. It is bordered by, inter alia, the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art. Both the Park and the Mall were included in Major Pierre L'Enfant's original plan for the Capital. Both are visited by vast numbers of visitors from around the country, as well as by large numbers of residents of the Washington metropolitan area. Under the regulations involved in this case, camping in National Parks is permitted only in campgrounds designated for that purpose. 36 CFR § 50.27(a) (1983). No such campgrounds have ever been designated in Lafayette Park or the Mall. Camping is defined as the use of park land for living accommodation purposes such as sleeping activities, or making preparations to sleep (including the laying down of bedding for the purpose [p291] of sleeping), or storing personal belongings, or making any fire, or using any tents or . . . other structure . . . for sleeping or doing any digging or earth breaking or carrying on cooking activities. Ibid. These activities, the regulation provides, constitute camping when it reasonably appears, in light of all the circumstances, that the participants, in conducting these activities, are in fact using the area as a living accommodation regardless of the intent of the participants or the nature of any other activities in which they may also be engaging. Ibid. Demonstrations for the airing of views or grievances are permitted in the Memorial-core parks, but for the most part only by Park Service permits. 36 CFR § 50.19 (1983). Temporary structures may be erected for demonstration purposes, but may not be used for camping. 36 CFR § 50.19(e)(8) (1983). [n2] In 1982, the Park Service issued a renewable permit to respondent Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV) to conduct a wintertime demonstration in Lafayette Park and the Mall for the purpose of demonstrating the plight of the [p292] homeless. The permit authorized the erection of two symbolic tent cities: 20 tents in Lafayette Park that would accommodate 50 people and 40 tents in the Mall with a capacity of up to 100. The Park Service, however, relying on the above regulations, specifically denied CCNV's request that demonstrators be permitted to sleep in the symbolic tents. CCNV and several individuals then filed an action to prevent the application of the no-camping regulations to the proposed demonstration, which, it was claimed, was not covered by the regulation. It was also submitted that the regulations were unconstitutionally vague, had been discriminatorily applied, and could not be applied to prevent sleeping in the tents without violating the First Amendment. The District Court granted summary judgment in favor of the Park Service. The Court of Appeals, sitting en banc, reversed. Community for Creative Non-Violence v. Voting Question: please explain this in your words :)?

Bank and Associates is a midsize technical services firm that provides programming support and network management services for its clients. Today, the company, located in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, has almost 400 employees. Edna Bank, the company's CEO, is concerned about the emergence of new technologies and the resulting demand for new skills this places on her staff. She has asked you, as HR manager at Bank and Associates, to develop a comprehensive plan for addressing the company's future workforce needs. Workforce planning, sometimes referred to as HR forecasting, can be conducted to target three time periods: short range, intermediate range, and long range. In this scenario, look at the intermediate-range workforce needs of Bank and Associates. In thinking about the future of the company, research the characteristics and demographics of the workforce and how those changing variables are affecting the workforce. Resolved Question: Do you regularly monitor your child's facebook, myspace or other social networking sites?

I'm a rising sophomore in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area and am writing an article about parents who regularly look at their children's social networking sites (i.e. facebook, myspace, bebo) either through creating a page of their own on said social networking site or by discovering their children's passwords to these sites and looking at them directly. I am especially interested to know the reason for why parents do this -- did your child do something to make you no longer trust them? are you simply curious as to what your children do on a daily basis? and what do you do with the information after you have discovered it? I will of course not directly quote anyone who does not wish to be quoted or named, and can instead put information into the deep background paragraphs if that is more desired. It would be great to have some information about this from parents themselves so that my article does not turn out to be biased! Thanks. more

Resolved Question: 100 miles inside the US "Constitution free zone" Is this true ?

DHS 33 "interior checkpoints" that are monitored by the border patrol, according to a 2005 Government Accountability Office report. The ACLU says a "Constitution-free zone" exists within 100 miles of the US border, where DHS claims the authority to stop, search and detain anyone for any reason. Nearly two-thirds of the US population lives within 100 miles of the border, according to the ACLU, and the border zone encompasses scores of major metropolitan areas and even entire states. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/ACLU_highlights_ConstitutionFree_Zone_100_miles_1022.html * The spread of border-search powers inland is part of a broad expansion of border powers with the potential to affect the lives of ordinary Americans who have never left their own country. * It coincides with the development of numerous border technologies, including watch list and database systems such as the Automated Targeting System (ATS) traveler risk assessment program, identity and tracking systems such as electronic (RFID) passports, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), and intrusive technological schemes such as the Secure Border Initiative Network (SBINet) or “virtual border fence” and unmanned aerial vehicles (aka “drone aircraft”). * This illegitimate expansion of the extraordinary powers of agents at the border is also part of a general trend we have seen over the past 8 years of an untrammeled, heedless expansion of police and national security powers without regard to the effect on innocent Americans. * This trend is also typical of the Bush Administration’s dragnet approach to law enforcement and national security. Instead of intelligent, competent, targeted efforts to stop terrorism, illegal immigration, and other crimes, what we have been seeing in area after area is an approach that turns us all into suspects. This approach seeks to sift through the entire U.S. population in the hopes of encountering the rare individual whom the authorities have a legitimate interest in. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10665 Washington a hot spot in Border Patrol's expansion By MANUEL VALDES ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/6420ap_wa_border_friction.html1) The only ones who have carried this story are a group called "ACLU" -- I have yet to determine there ligitamacy as a group or for this particular claim 2) Newspapers and other sources that carry this story --- all reference it back to the ACLU -- So even though I can provide other sources - they circle right back to the original group 3) --- Is this a truthful claim ? 4) Why are you saying that it is a false/true claim ?Katherine 1) I have one American sitting with me - who said they used to be good - but then drifted into a sort of obscurity of political agenda's 2) When I research them - I find 2 extremely biased sets of opinions "These are the greatest people on the planet" or "This is walking evil straight from hell " which leaves me no further ahead 3) I don't think the group matters as much as the claim -- if it is or is not true is where I would like to keep this discussion 4) If the claim is true -- ( and I am not saying it is or is not) then that circle of constitution free zone around the US will act like a noose strangling all freedoms sooner or later more

Resolved Question: Is AT&T's network really as bad as people say it is?

My contracts ending in a few months and I've been looking at the latest devices to choose from when my contract ends. I'm at a match between the Verizon RIM Blackberry Storm and the AT&T Apple iPhone. I've used both devices, and even though the iPhone lacks some of the most basic features such as: flash, video recording, and MMS (though u can work around this with its email app) which my phone from 5 years ago can do; the iPhone is still the winner cause of the whole UI, browser, Apple product integration, and he "WOW" factor. But the one thing holding me back from rushing out right now and getting it is I've heard that AT&T's network, well...sucks...a lot. I live in the suburbs of Chicago, still a VERY metropolitan area. In the AT&T coverage map it shows BEST COVERAGE and GOOD COVERAGE everywhere in my area. also 3G is everywhere in my are (at least that is what the map shows). I've done some research and some people say Chicago is one of AT&T's WEAK SPOTS, even though by me judging from the coverage map, its probably one of the best with the most 3G COVERAGE. Then other people say AT&T is the best they've ever had. I know Verizon's network probably beats AT&T's but I just want ot know if AT&T's network is reliable and works well. Please share any and all information you are willing that might help me make my choice a little clearer. A big help would be to tell me your experiences with AT&T and tell what part of the US u live in. A bigger help would be if you are from the Chicago land area. If you are from the Chicago land area, please say so in your answer. ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AND I KNOW THIS IS A VERY LONG QUESTION SO THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THANKS EVERYONE FOR ANSWERING!!!!! So far NO ONE has anything bad to sat about AT&T. I think I know which one I'm getting (iPhone)! Resolved Question: Why do I feel this way about immigration/multiculturalism?

Okay here it goes, I grew up in a not too diverse town and would like to move somewhere later on in my lifetime where there is more culture and diversity. I would not mind living in a diverse metropolitan area but at the same time I think a subdivison with 3 or 4 different ethnic groups living all in the same spot would be overwhelming. I can handle two.(black and white, black and hispanic, white and asian, etc, etc, etc). On the other hand, culturally diverse schools and churches, IM ALL FOR IT! I'm all for having a diverse network of friends and I can even put up w/ interracial dating/marrige(to a certain extent). It also does not bother me that, foreigners still embrace their old country when they come here(as long as they learn english, they can practice w/e they want in their households) Is this some sort of self-contradictory? No negative answers please.Oh yeah, I did forget the illegal immigration. As long as you are here legally, cool. more

I travel a lot for work and am burned out on the Marriott-Hilton-Hyatt scene. I have recently started seeking out mid-scale and upscale boutique hotels (like the Algonquin in NYC or the Metropolitan in Toronto) and I really enjoy the character you get at places like those. But I miss my free nights. Is there a network or frequent traveller program that focuses on smaller, boutique hotels? I know some or most of the smaller chains have their own programs; I'm looking for a program that gives me a lot of variety/choices in hotels and still allows me to get rewards. I travel primarily in the US with about 3 trips a year to Canada; mainly on the East Coast but some West Coast travel; hotels themselves should be priced similar to an area Marriott/Courtyard/Hilton/Embassy Suites or else work won't pay. THEY ARE CEO's or OWNERS of the media outletandy, if only jews read newspapers or watched the news on television, i would say you have a point. otherwise, you still didn't prove any of these jews aren't ceo's or owners of media outlets.do you people think today's media is not biased? any muslim that picks up an arm is considered a "terrorist" even if he is simply defending his family from occupation or threat. today's media wants to pretend to be against this war on terror, when in fact, the only man running for president that would stop it, they label crazy. israel and the jews are america's biggest problem today. jews are not elite, they just have you think they are. throughout history, including today, jews have been the center of the world's biggest problems. the jews are the only beneficiaries to 9/11. hell, larry silverstein turned a 200 million dollar investment into a 7 billion dollar return in 6 short weeks. amazing. i simply don't like for their to be one voice among the media. and yes, ceo's do make policy. including what type of mentality to hire. i wouldn't want all ceo's to be all male, or all female, or all white or all black. but when you have cnn, abc, cbs, fox, nbc, msnbc, and most alland most all major newspapers in america, and the world for that matter, run by a very small minority, you will not get the whole truth. for example, when was the last time you read a story in mainstream news of an israeli sniper shooting a 15 year old girl hanging clothes out to dry on her roof and her 12 year old brother feeding pigeons in the neck. or how many of you have heard of the american girl that got run over by an israeli military bulldozer that was demolishing palestinian homes in the jewish, err, i mean mainstream, media. more
