Rachel was quickly hired out of the university during the dot-com boom to a company of 100 employees that ran an innovative social networking website. She was immediately put in charge of email communication to customers-both existing and potential. Rachel handled all online contact with existing users and was asked to market to these existing online community members via email. But she struggled with finding a balance of the right amount of marketing. With Internet competition growing everyday within the social networking websites, these users had plenty of alternatives. Flooding their email inboxes, she thought, wasn't the best way to attract them. Unfortunately, Rachel's boss had a different approach. The VP for Marketing wanted results – he wanted existing customers to upgrade their networking packages and follow through on advertisements. He told Rachel to be as aggressive as possible with her email campaigns. Rachel found subtle alternatives to the mass emails. She developed links on the company website to advertisements, but she was not getting the results her boss demanded. One day when Rachel arrived at the office, her boss said he had a brilliant idea. He said that everybody knew someone named Cindy Anderson, so they could send emails to their users from that name to trick them into opening the email, which would display a link to their website. What is you moral evaluation? Is there any ethical dilemma that Rachel faced? If you were Rachel, what is your moral disposition? Justify your answer. moreVoting Question: MLM recruiting... You may of heard of John Alexander of Inverse Purchase fame...www.paperbiz.com. I have come to believe he is a business man with pretty good discernment of the real estate market. He has moved away from real estate investing and toward network marketing. He says in his latest video that the government or HUD is about to drive the last nail in the coffin of your upstart real estate investor. Unless you have a large bank roll you can pretty much forget it. He is saying that for those with smaller bank rolls to join companies such as FDI or Amway. After all I NEVER in my wildest dreams though I would see an advertisement to join Amway on a major network! Hi, Long story, but my wife agreed to sign up her brother in a Network Marketing company under her name. He earned approximately $30K for the year. The problem is that my wife and I file our taxes jointly, and I do not want his income to minimize our earnings for 2009. Please let me know what we can do if that is the case. moreResolved Question: Why people hate HR personnel?
I am not a HR guy. I am also a part of the bigger crowd who hate HR. Some of the reasons I see are : 1. HR on a different frequency than the actual hiring manager (especially in the engineering companies) 2. HR always portrays their image of the moral police in a company, but I am still to see an infrastructure in even biiiiiiiiiig companies to correct bullying by HR. 3. Being confident and being arrogant has a very fine line. This line is very frequently crossed by 3 to 7 yr experienced HR personnel while speaking with a prospective employee as well as current employee. 4. If some employee (non-HR) comes up with an innovative idea, HR will do everything in their power to chop it off because they do not like go outside their regular channel. 5. I continuously fail to understand the substance behind the arrogance of HR just because they have access to our salaries. 6. HR will maintain the performance review files for every soul in a company, but when the time comes to lay someone off, the only thing that matters is "if a person falls in targeted salary range", the performance is absolutely immaterial. What is the use of your entire divisions output when it is useless for making decision. (I have not lost my job but I have seen people winning best employee awards one week getting laid off next week and the people with same job skills and title, who have received warning about their work were able to maintain their jobs because they were just outside the targeted salary range). 7. HR will dance around every company in suits marketing the networking principles etc., but when it comes to YAHOO ANSWERS, I do not see a single category which is devoted to HR questions. The obvious reason is "They don't want to help anyone.....because they cannot........because there is nothing they have that will help anyone" Shower your thoughts if you agree with this. If you are an HR person yourself, you are very welcome to clear our minds. I am still to see an HR trying to answer these questions. moreResolved Question: Looking for a business or tv network that sells or airs independently made movies or tv series.?

I am a marketing director for a family-owned company. I have been working there for a little over 8 years starting out as a marketing assistant the first few years. I am a very highly-skilled talent who now runs my own department with the luxury of having a couple of assistants. I am very well compensated and enjoy the benefits of my skills and experience. But feel that I have outgrown my position and feel that I cannot move up because of the fact that my company is family-owned. I've spoken to my boss on many occasions, at department meetings and my performance appraisals, etc., to suggest to him on how I can be a more valuable asset to the company moving forward: 1) Going to trade shows, 2) Management seminars, 3) Meeting with clients and making presentations. My suggestions were overlooked each and every time. The only thing that I was told is that I develop my assistants so that they can be right up there in the same level with me. What makes me uneasy about this is that I cannot peak anymore with my company. I fear that if I develop my assistants to the same level as I am, I may get laid off or demoted. I understand that it is my duty as a marketing director to get the job done and develop my assistants, but not at the cost of losing my job because I make too much, or I don't play politics. Politics and nepotism is very rampant in my company, and I understand that this sort of company culture exists everywhere you go. However, I feel that management is insulting me and undermining my position by keeping me boxed in. Friends and colleagues have offered varying, but very helpful advice ranging from: 1) Start looking for a new job, 2) Play politics more, and/or 3) Network more, 4) Don't think about it too much. To those who are experiencing the same thing that I am going through, I need your input. I currently have a Dell Latitude D830, which I plan to replace in a few months' time. Ideally, I would like to replace it with a laptop that is capable of driving a Panasonic 1080p plasma screen as an external display (although NOT NECESSARILY for full HD signal; it will be used to screen streaming video) and generally to be used as a desktop replacement. Dell have advised me that the best laptop for the job (at least in the current range) would be the Studio XPS but because they market this principally as a consumer / multmedia PC, rather than a business machine, I am concerned that it may not be suitable for my needs. I am not at all concerned about guaranteed upgrade roadmaps, easy networking and other features designed to appeal to large companies with complicated IT 'estates' that need to be managed. I am effectively a standalone user. But I *do* want something that is robust enough to be lugged around the world without breaking, and that is going to last me for three years. I don't use any specialised applications - just heavy-duty PowerPoint, Excel and stuff like that. Plus Nero video and audio editing. is this translation from italian correct. can you tell me the parts to change. (sorry if it's long) Dear Rector, We wish to inform you about the activities and the objectives of our brand new association. Naples, the city where GRADg is located, constitutes today a crucial hub for Mediterranean and international migration flows, calling to mind, in a way, some aspects of New York in the last century, constituting a real “melting pot”, inhabited by different ethnic groups, cultures and customs. It is within this scenario that the GRADg project has been set up, on the initiative of graduate and undergraduate students of the Università degli studi di Napoli L’Orientale, one of the centres of academic excellence in Italy in the study of foreign languages. Most of the members of our association comes from this university, which also contains students from Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, La Parthenope and Suor Orsola Benincasa. The GRADg constitutes as a youthful anti-unemployment search party, pursuing young recent graduate and undergraduate students whose goal is to enter the world of work. Through arrangements with universities from all over the world and, relying on the work of a large body of native speakers – as well as competent and qualified experts representing various continental and international languages – the GRADg intends to serve as a bridge between nations in achieving cultural, financial and commercial changes. It further purposes to set up arrangements between universities and companies for professional exchanges among young graduates from different countries, which will be fruitful for all parts involved. The association is constantly seeking new skills to be included in the circuit, and the University "L'Orientale" is an inexhaustible supply of young people who have achieved a high academic level. The structural and economic crisis – that according to many analysts is far from over – has created very high levels of new unemployment, while professionals have ceased altogether to exist. In this context, our goal is to create incentives and means to generate jobs through a network which connects businesses and institutions with experts in various fields. Then, the expansion beyond the borders – young people seem to have understood – represents the new frontier which will allow everybody to face this raging economic crisis, especially if it is addressed to the developing countries, or newly industrialized, along an idea of cooperation and collaboration which will be useful to both players of these exchanges. In fact, one of the most concrete and important purposes of the GRADg is precisely to provide support to companies which have interest in expanding abroad through the growth and outsourcing of the market, addressing mainly to areas that offer a very wide range of commercial possibilities and intend to be potentially one of the main actors of the world affairs of the next decades. Moreover, supporting the government entities which deal with the integration of the immigrants on the national territory is not secondary. The GRADg is anti-unemployment search, through open-minded projects, willingness to be open to new culture in a productive dynamic, promotion of opportunities of work, internships in repertory companies on the territory, development and expansion of activities abroad: our association offers all means (language skills, affability, sector-based and bureaucratic knowledge) as well as the necessary skills for a serene and correct integration between people while respecting the interests of all. Let’s summarize schematically all the goals that our association intends to pursue: 1- Provide, the education system of MESI, the possibility to train the students both Italy and other countries: activate, for each one of them, projects and concrete contacts. Let them study in other countries, developing a system for distance learning too, by using new technologies – videoconferences and other data transmission devices – in order to exchange information, applicable skills in the world of work, and by creating synergies between the different realities and their procedures. One of the main innovations is properly to use technology to make models of instant interaction, which will allow you to avoid practical, bureaucratic and economic problems, inherent in the geographical shift. 2- Propose – thanks to a deepen knowledge of the national territory – projects and internships to those interested in enlargement and development of their own skills, through a continuous process of updating that also involves cooperation with other institutional and private. 3- Capitalize the skills gained in the process of obtaining the qualification: it offers a continuous exchange of information and knowledge between experts of various countries, who have conducted a study path in the same field, to get the different methods and their limits, and then complement each other at last. 4- Ins moreResolved Question: Are there any good network marketing companies to work for, that really make money?
