Open Question: How can I monitor traffic on LAN?
Hi, I have 60 PCs on network, one of them is eating all traffic and I want to know which one is it, is there any soft or any way to catch the "guilty" user? moreOpen Question: Why does my internet randomly drop?
I have a brand new computer I joined to my domain a few weeks ago. Randomly, the internet will stop working but will come back up after a few minutes. During the internet downtime, the computer can't ping the gateway but it can access local computers and shares on our network. All other computers on the network are unaffected. We tried moving the computer to a new location to test if it was caused by the network cabling or switch port and it still dropped internet randomly. I assigned it a static IP and have been trying every which way to monitor that particular computer's network activity but have gotten no where. I have everything connected to 2 Netgear GS748TR and can monitor any packet collisions and anything like that, but see nothing. These symtpoms occurred on other computers after we upgraded to FiOS last October, but the I upgraded our switches which seemed to resolve those issues. I'm thinking it has to do with my Cisco PIX firewall however we have no more than 30 workstations in our network and I can't see how the PIX Firewall can't handle that. moreOpen Question: Was my email hacked or is someone masking as my email address?
I started receiving rejected email yesterday on my corporate email account from people I have never even heard of. I immediately changed my login password and they seem to have stopped since last night about an hour after I changed the password. Bellow is a screen shot of my SBS2003 monitoring, it shows network translation from an external IP, I looked them up and it is in a block of ip's in the PA, USA. I was looking into the headers when I first got the rejections yesterday and found routing through Turkey, Chile and mainly China. Have I done enough just changing my email or do I need to do more like blocking ports? What is port 20820... never heard of it. Bellow, all of my servers, workstations and everything where correct in the XXXXXXXX sections, just didn't want to give anyone else any information they didn't need. I need to monitor systems in my network with the same Workgroup. So, i need an application that has the capability to show the Names of systems connected to my network. Which application can be able to get the host names of systems in the same Workgroup. moreResolved Question: [USA] When is this invasion of privacy going to stop?
So It's tuesday, and today I watch "Bleach". Anime is something I like, but on monday I watch House and I'm also partial to shows like Supernatural. I talk about the shows and support the greats in word of mouth advertisement, as many shows do. Shows like Heroes, where you say to a friend, "Did you see that ... ?!" So today is tuesday and I start up my torrent to download the anime. But because of the irritability of the internet, I also start up PeerBlock. PeerBlock is an IP block list of certain categories, such as government and education lists. These block out suspicious activity, and I always make a habit of keeping the application open so I can see some of the host names and IP addresses of the people being blocked from accessing my network. As screenshots are not ideal in Yahoo Answers, I won't bother linking one and most people don't much like clicking links anyway, but needless to say that my history in the application was full of US DoD networks being blocked like moths to the flame. USAISEC, USAISC, US HQ 5th Signal Command, Halliburton, DoD, etc etc etc, It just keeps going and going. Is this what they are spending our tax dollars on by supporting such legislation--like the Patriot Act? Did we forget just how absurd these rules are? Am I to be monitored like a terrorist simply because I question the judgments of my Government? Is this 1960 all over again, where you haul everyone that disagrees off to jail? Are we really going to forget and just put up with this? THIS IS BULLSH*T.The NSA got caught with phone sex porn of people they were illegally monitoring and no one blinks an eye. Don't tell me that isn't a problem. I don't trust the people working for the government because they're just normal people wanting to get paid like anybody else. Grow up. moreOpen Question: Browsing history on combined wired/wireless network?
Our house is set up for satellite internet since we live in a rural area. Previously with a broken screen the wifi still worked i had an external monitor, other laptop's can still connect fine to the network so it's not the router, any ideas on how to fix it? moreOpen Question: What's the value of a Dish Network HD Monitor (HD40-300)?

We're just selling it online on Craigslist or something. THANKS! moreOpen Question: Windows 7 Randomly Losing Internet Connectivity?
I've had Windows 7 for about 4 months now and have been experiencing pretty much no problems with it. Recently, I've run into a problem, however. I'll be on the internet, be it Firefox or Internet Explorer, and I'll click on a link, expecting to be redirected to a new page and absolutely nothing happens. I click on it a few times, and nothing happens. Frustrated, I open a new tab and try manually going to the link by typing the URL into the searchbar, and I get one of those "this page can not be displayed" messages. After this point, no matter what I do, I can not connect to the internet. The network monitor on Windows 7 says that I am connected to the internet, yet everything else points the other way. My instant messengers disconnect, my web browsers can't connect, nothing at all will connect. If I unplug my router for a bit, it doesn't fix the problem at all. The only thing that seems to remedy the problem is just restarting my computer. Normally, after a restart it will work for about a day before the problem reappears. Here are my specs: Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit Edition (Yes, it is legal. I did not torrent or pirate it in any way) AMD Phenom 2 Quad Core Processor 4 Gigs of RAM(3.25 usable, though, due to the 32 Bit limitations) I'm running on a DSL connection from my local ISP. Wired. I believe those are all the relevant specs that you guys need. moreOpen Question: How much is my laptop worth?

I've been having some trouble with my Laptop, for about 2 Hours. The Computer is a Dell Inspiron 1521 Laptop, and it simply won't let me use the Internet. When connected to my home network, which I'm sure works, because I'm posting this right now from my Desktop, connected to my home network, it simply says, "Currently connected to: Unidentified network (Network Name) Access: Local Only" The Icon is the two blue monitors side to side, without the Globe. Things I've read: It may have been switched off via a FN Code. Anyone know the code to reenable? Also that there may be a switch on the laptop itself to enable/disable wireless. All I see is the Wifi switch (ON), and a small button with a Radio Tower next to it. This button is in the Laptop, and really you can't press it, even with the tip of a pen. Simply, it doesn't go in. Any suggestions? *Just did a System Restore. moreResolved Question: Should I buy a new desktop?

Is it all just a HUGE coincidence that there is a Simultaneous introduction of biometric, smart ID cards around the world? Or is it the case, that a huge network of "agents" in many Governments are all working towards a World Government and a Global population all micro chipped? The reason I say this is because it does seem strange to me that so many Governments are implementing the same policies, at the same time. Is it really all one huge coincidence? 1. The ID schemes and database projects are harmonised and conform to international standards, designed to be coordinated and interoperable. The smart ID cards being adopted by different nations worldwide are all on a common format: - ICAO 9303 part 3. This document available can viewed here: www.hasbrouck.org/documents/ICAO9303-pt3.pdf 2. Behind the ID project, the participating nations are also all adopting a common format for personal information on government databases. This is what ID cards are about - more than the physical cards themselves, they are an interface to access databases of personal information. Adopting a common format for cards implies adopting a common format for data systems and databases. Interoperability of systems and universal accessibility of data has been an explicit goal, not merely implicit. There is also a project to make your personal data available to all other governments, worldwide. 3. The adoption of these systems has been coordinated, by a government process, conferences, aid and support. 4. This policy is being projected worldwide by the European Union (EU) and the US. They have been the leading movers in promoting common format "smart" ID cards and databases. 5. It seems probable that Russia and the Eastern Bloc nations will also be joining the project - under the EU-Russia Common Spaces agreements. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union%E2%80%93Russia_Common_Spaces 6. Smart ID cards will cover at least 90% of world population - perhaps over 95%. This figure is even higher than that in my earlier article, in Global Research. Only about 2.5% are definitely not going in with the common-format ID scheme (e.g. Burma, North Korea, Madagascar, etc). For about 8% of world population, I haven't been able to track down solid, reliable information, e.g. small countries such as Equatorial Guinea, Fiji, etc. 7. The aim of this process is to track population movement - migration of population. The system of immigration and border controls has evolved into worldwide system of monitoring population movement, to stop potential immigrants. The aim has progressed from stopping potential illegal immigrants at the borders of the EU or the US, into extended border controls, that stop migrants hundreds or thousands of miles before they reach the borders. This requires systems of population monitoring and surveillance, in "third nations." ID systems are part of this strategy. moreVoting Question: Would i be able to play World of Warcraft on a Intel Core2Duo E7500 2.93Ghz 4G 500GB GT220 1GB?

Hi everybody, I need your help about software to monitor LAN/WAN/Internet traffic and/or activities. I have setup a Network in my company like this: A Network cable is connected from modem to the main switch, and the server, 3 wireless router and 5 PCs are connected to the main switch also. IP address of the server and 5 PCs are assigned statistically in the range of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.255. Except the IPs 192.168.1.65 for Wireless Router-1, 192.168.1.66 for Wireless Router-2, 192.168.1.67 for Wireless Router-3. All Wireless Routers are using DHCP services to assigned IP address to every new laptop that connect to the Network. Wireless Router-1 assign IP address to clients in the range of 192.168.2.65 to 192.168.2.254, Wireless Router-2 assign IP address to clients in the range of 192.168.3.65 to 192.168.3.254 and Wireless Router-3 assign IP address to clients in the range of 192.168.4.65 to 192.168.4.254. What I want to know is that is there any software that I can use to monitor or control Network traffic in my company? Sometime I connect my laptop to a wireless router and it's very slow to use remote desktop, transfer file or access to Internet. but It is as fast as normal on the server or other computer connected to the main switch. So I want to know if there is any software to solve this problem.Note: I need a software to install on Windows Server that could monitor client in difference IP range. The server IP is in range 192.168.1.x and clients could be in range of 192.168.1.x to 192.168.4.x. Some software allow me to monitor only client in the same IP range to server. moreVoting Question: Step Daughters estranged family want to get in touch?
I have raised my Step-Daughter as my own for the last 10 years. She has never laid her eyes on her biological father, nor has he her. Last night when monitoring her social networking account (One of the terms in allowing her to have one) I noticed an Email from one of her half Sisters, asking if she was the Daughter of *****. She does not even know these people exist. Her biological father has several ex girlfriends and children scattered all over the place. I knew this day would come, however not in such a way. I love my Daughter more than life itself and do not want her to see these people. However I only want the best for her, like any doting Dad. I am torn between telling these people she is not who they think she is, or sitting her down and informing her of their existence. Some facts that might help in any advice. (1) Me and her mother do well, live in a nice home, only have the one child, love her more than any other child on Earth. She goes to an excellent school and is a very happy child. We are both professionals. (2) Her half Sisters are still in touch with their Dad, one has a Child of her own (aged 19). Both seem Normal-ish. (3) Her biological Father is unemployed, has children with 3 different Women, has never had a job in his life, has never attempted to find his Daughter (I hate using that term in this context). And has also served time in prison for a serious offense. I assumed it would be my Daughter doing this when she was in her early 20's. After University and old enough to form her own opinions. My main concern is that their influence will disrupt her life, and If I am completely honest she will grow to love these people. Regards Skellen. moreVoting Question: Can I as administrator monitor other computers on my home network?

The device we're looking for has to be network capable, meaning we need it to connect to a wireless or wired network connection. If you have any advice please list them im open to all suggestions (except using a baby monitor since the distance is too much--even if the distance is good enough, we do not want it to be a baby monitor) thanks!Hi Chet, this cannot be considered. The child sleepwalks, if they have an IP camera then they will need to be by their computer or have a computer near their bed to listen in. It has to be something that doesnt require additional equipment. It needs to be A Monitoring Device and a Listening Device that they can place near their bed so they can hear if the child walks. thats why i said it needs to be like a Baby Monitor. Lastly, references to websites or articles on this matter will be greatly appreciated... Thanks before; and sorry for any lack of detail or if this is a stupid question. Let me further explain: I have an Exchange Server (2003) that I have about 20 users on. I am setting up Viewpoint and it will monitor activity on my network. The problem is anyone with sense will just connect to an unprotected network to avoid the monitoring. So how can I block the few unprotected networks for my users? I would love to be able to employ the task from the server to the users instead of actually doing it (obviously) on each machine. Which are all XP SP 2, by the way.
