With exception to the Olympic Games in particular, and perhaps the finals of major sports competitions, I don't see how sport is regarded as being news worthy? Network Ten have a separate sports bulletin called "Sports Tonight" So why don't other TV networks and stations including the ABC do the same, or cut out the regular sports reports? Ok so im 18 years old currently in high school and only like 5"3 - 5"4 it pisses me of bieng so short i dont know why it just has some kind of mental emotional control over me. My hieght is holding me back from so much....i remember at like 16 17 i was that outgoing funny kid now im just like whatever because i look at the future and just pisses me off ..about how many girls im going to lose and not get a chance with....all the sports i loved to play im missing out on that...basketball, football. I usually like being the leader but with this height i cant. Im also currently running a networking business with my cousin and the people who are under me im supposed to lead them but i just hate the fact people under me i have to look above to. Open Question: Can someone help me with my networking problem?

Hello, I have an HP a1610n Pavilion desktop that is having problems working on my network. This computer is running XP Media Center edition 2002 SP3 and the board is using the NVIDIA nForce networking controller with driver version 50.2.4.0 from Spring 2006. This problem arose when I upgraded my TV package to include PVR service. The new router/gateway they provided is a 2Wire 3800HGV-B model, that provides the TV signal as well as Internet. Once this router was installed, I could connect no problem with my laptop wirelessly and with the physical connection. However, I have not been able to load my Firefox browser properly with my HP desktop. Yahoo is my home page and it takes anywhere from 4-10 minutes to load (sometimes without all the graphics it usually has). I tried a sports website and it took over 20 minutes to load. Two calls to my service provider did not solve the problem, but I found that there is some connection. I was able to download a test file from their FTP site. The ISP's FTP site which is not graphic still took a minute to load. I was then told that my only option was to do a system recovery. Here's what I've done so far: I've been to Nvidia's website to download the latest driver (ver: 65.7.4.0) and it won't install on my desktop. It just stays in an infinite loop saying that there are already drivers present and asks to restart. HP's website for my desktop lists my current driver as the most recent one even though it's from spring 2006. My family has an HP Pavilion that is six months older than mine running the same OS with the same controller, however, the nForce driver is version 50.0.9.0 from July 2005. They have also upgraded to the same PVR service and have the same 2Wire router I have, but do not have the same issues as I do. In fact, they are still using their own router in conjunction with the new 2Wire router. I am sorry for the long post, but I wanted to provide as much information about the issue as possible. My questions are: What have I missed? Is it the network card? Should I try a recovery? (I've already backed up my data and will try downloading the 50.0.9.0 driver first) I could use all the help I can get. Take care, Blaine more

Resolved Question: Should I change schools?

I've been going to a university I hate for 2 years. But it's tempting to stay because it has such a huge network base. If ever my employer happened to have to graduated from here, I would instantly get a job (most likely). Because everyone who goes to this school is obsessed with it and literally thinks there is no school greater. But at the same time, I'm miserable. Out of the two years I've lived here, I haven't made any real friends. I despise the type people (anal retentive, obsessed with sports, obsessed with history and traditions that mean nothing to me, militaristic, etc). I hate the fact that I can't get a job because the town is too freaking small. And the list goes on. I just feel alienated and depressed all the time. Though it has been nice living off-campus and getting a feel for independence (being responsible for bills and such). And I have found a wonderful, legit church that I absolutely love and would be sad to leave. However, if I went to the university in my hometown, there's a better chance I'd be able to connect with people. I'd be a lot happier since I'd be near my family and friends. I could help my mom get back in church and hopefully fix her life. I could help my brothers with school. Though, I'd have to live at home because I wouldn't get extra financial aid for housing (the school is too small to house students).. and that would be a misery of it's own since my family is the incarnation of chaos and hell. But if I could get a job, I might be able to get a small $200 a month loft apartment near the school. And the chances for getting a job in my hometown are much greater than here. Also, my GPA would start over, which would help me a lot (I didn't work as hard my freshman year). The education is about the same, in my opinion. And I'd certainly be happier. But most people would probably tell me I'm giving up a good thing. I'm really at a loss. Any advice?What if I'm an undergrad? Will my GPA still not start over? I was always told it would.No, I'm at a school in Texas.My major will be accounting if and when I get into the department. And I'm not sure how my career opportunities are looking if I don't know how to network and make friends. I literally have nothing in common with the people here. I feel awkward most of the time. more

Resolved Question: I'm a communications major, and was wondering if anybody knows a good Senior Thesis Research topic?

Ok, so i'm a Communications Major, and i'm taking Senior Thesis (which is a class I need to fully graduate). I have to do a 25-35 page research paper on a communication topic about anything that deals with communication. For example, some of the topics the students in my class chose dealt with social networking and another was "How does sports advertising and its messages affect the children looking up to them" something along those lines. Also, another one was "Why do movie companies make movie sequels". Basically the research topic has to be put in the form of a question that needs to be answered in the paper. I'm actually stuck and can't come up with a good research topic. I want to do something interesting that could involve the media (music or film), or communication within the workplace (leadership roles, etc). Also, something where there is a lot of information about the topic out there (scholarly reviewed/approved articles), and not be too broad, or narrow (where there isn't a lot of information about it). Can anybody give me a good research topic that is interesting to research and involves communication? more

Here are his reasons: 1) You will never see another Miracle on Ice. - His thought on this is that the US would not have received the boost it did from the '80 Olympics. 2) The hardship the NHL will face is not worth it. - Shutting down for two weeks and compacting the season is too much of a sacrifice. - We as fans are going to suffer because the NHL hockey will not be as good. 3) Players and teams will have nothing left for the playoffs. - His example is that Babcock cannot afford to give Rafalski a night off because they are fighting for a playoff spot. 4) Going to Sochi will just be too inconvenient for the NHL to accommodate the players. There was a time when the Olympics were about the best amateur athletes in the world. That time has come and gone not just in hockey but in all sports. True, the cross-country skiers, curlers and a bunch of other athletes are not making mega-millions for playing their sports, many of these athletes must have to have jobs in order to survive while preparing. With that said, there are very few true amateur athletes left in Olympic sports. The Chinese curling teams are fully funded teams, their full-time job is curling. There will never be another Miracle on Ice. The US were underdogs but, had they managed to knock off Team Canada, it would not even be close to the upset that took place in 1980. Is it worth sacrificing the quality of hockey that took place for the chance of an upset once every 20 or 30 years? I have not seen the ratings for the gold medal game yet but the preliminary round game drew more than an 8 rating here in the states and the game was televised on a cable network. I think it's safe to assume that they gold medal game drew higher given what was at stake and the fact that it was on the networks primary channel. Those that tuned in to those games got to see a great hockey game, none of the things hockey detractors use to rip the sport, many of the league's biggest stars on the ice in real hockey games and the league's biggest star coming up huge on the world's largest stage. In today's world, this is exactly what the NHL needs. Amateurs or Professionals? Why?Bob is 100% correct, there is no way that Sochi draws the ratings that this Olympic tournament did for the exact reasons he stated. These games have the potential to be the best thing to happen to the NHL since the lockout. In that regard, I think the NHL owes it to the Olympics to send it's athletes to Sochi so that they can benefit again when it is in a better location for the NHL. @Bob: Russian sent KHL players to the World University games last year in Harbon, China. The US team was an all-star team of ACHA players. No need to describe the results of that game. @Joe: Sorry I kind of jumped on your bandwagon. I want to do something like that project "The Buried Life" on MTV, if you don't know what that is it's this show where 4 guys list of 100 things they want to do before they die and they go all over the place trying to do all of 100 things. I just think it would be totally awesome and gives your life meaning. But the way the four guys are paying for the project is with the money they have, corporate sponsorships, and private donations. So my question is if I were to start a project like this do you think anybody would sponsor it, or help with funding it, if there already is a show like it? I mean, maybe a major network would like to get involved with the project and air it, but maybe not since there is already a show just like it on MTV. Or I guess I could do a project like 100 "Sports to Try Before You Die", because then a few friends and I could go and try a bunch of sports like Snowboard Half-Pipe, Ski Long Jump, Skateboarding, Skydiving, and a bunch of weird sports. That way we would be able to watch olympic games every year: one year we would watch summer games, next year we would watch winter games and so on. Wouldn't it be good for everybody? Athletes would be able to put into practice their training more often, and would be able to participate in more games and won more medals in their sport careers, which would be a great incentive. Ordinary people would be able to watch the games on TV more often and also purchase their tickets to travel to host countries with sufficient time in advance. I live in the mid-Atlantic, so I can only receive NBC's Olympic coverage. The pandering to the US market is nauseating. The only competitors shown are the Americans and any others who just happen to win medals. If the medal podium is devoid of Americans, there's a lot of rationalizing why they came up short and why their weak performance was, in fact, very impressive. (I guess this is what local broadcasts of Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees games are like.) Their low mark was last night. NBC dedicated a large block of prime time to a lengthy and often pointless interview with Hannah Kearney, who won the gold medal winner of women's moguls the previous night. Later in the same broadcast, they went to Cris Collinsworth for his impressions of Kearney's award ceremony. So my question is to those who can see both NBC's and another network, e.g. CBC, BBC, NHK, etc. How do they compare? Are other networks as nationalistic or sensationalistic as NBC? NBC seems determined to show events until an American wins gold, then they fawn and cloy over that achievement, deliberately ignoring all other events underway. They are more intent on making celebrities rather than covering sports. more

If us Christians praise God through music, why do some of us find it so surprising or difficult to realize that Satanists can worship Satan through music as well? Satan is not powerful enough to gain praise without trickery. Unlike my God Almighty, the King of King and Lord of Lords, Lucifer has to control an individual in order for them to worship him. Satan needs us, but God doesn’t. We need God. God loves us, but since He made us in His image, He knew we wanted to be bosses of our own selves. Nobody made God do what He did, so He couldn’t make us do things we didn’t want to do. In order for us to know what we want to do, we have to have a WILL. No one in their God-given mind would praise Satan without being impelled or taught by repetition. You see, although we are all born in sin, it is in our childhood where we have the Holy Spirit in us. As we see, hear and speak evil with age, we have to fight harder to keep that Holy Spirit in us. We are to enter the Kingdom of Heaven as little children. Little children can see much more good in people than older individuals, simply because they have not been exposed to as much evil. My point is that Satan has to control someone in order to be praised but since we are made in Gods image, we are God’s people so He doesn’t have to control us. He gave us free will, of course but Adam and Eve didn’t come into Eden as evil beings. Everything started off as good and turned into bad, not bad which turned into good. Since that is the truth, Satan has less power meaning that he needs to apply more force in order to be exalted. If more of us could just look at physics and apply it to the spiritual world as it is applied to the physical world than I’m quite sure there would be more believers. Yet, physics itself states that it is impossible for something to come from nothing. That leaves us to question where does physics come from? THAT leads us to KNOW that THERE IS A GOD. Beyonce is only playing her role in this world. If it wasn’t Beyonce or Rihanna it would be some other chicks by other names. Not to get off the subject, but that leads me to wonder what Beyonce and Rihannas names mean, for I have NEVER heard of such first names. Names have prophetic meanings. Now, we have to do what we are supposed to do and warn those who are unaware of subliminal messages that are not only in R&B, Rap, and Rock n’ Roll, but also on childrens television shows, advertisements of all sorts, proffessional sports broadcasts, and even in school textbooks. For example, did anyone else see the all seeing eye flashing across the screen during the 2010 superbowl? It is the logo for the televison network, of course, but I have never seen BET, MTV, NBC, CNN, DISNEY, NICKELODEON or any other network use this method of displaying their network logo. Maybe I did see it, but just didn’t know it. Television networks heighten the transparency of their logos and sit it in a familiar place on the left or right bottom of the screen. What difference does it make what network you are watching if you are watching what you want to be watching? Does that make sense to anyone? But the bottom line is, don’t be surprised or afraid brothers and sisters in Christ. This news should be comforting. We know everything God says is true, for He CANNOT lie and would never want to. Remember he said He will never leave us or forsake us. If you are truly in God’s army then you are PROTECTED!! Isn’t that SO comforting? I am not afraid of any of this NeW AgE movement. As a matter of fact, I CANNOT WAIT for it all to happen so more people can join God’s army. But remember, God can fight Satan without any man on this earth. As you may or may not know I am an Amir Khan fan and generally I don't buy in to all this talk of him ducking people but now I am starting to wonder. I'm not for one minute saying that Khan himself is ducking anyone rather his promoters and people guiding his career. I thought Golden Boy had made the fight between Maidana and Khan but this turned out to be false which was a shame. But now Khan vs Marquez is in the works which is a good tough fight for both. The thing is that it does appear that Khan's promoters are side stepping some opponents for some reason. When Khan left Sports Network to go to Golden Boy I thought it was strange timing. Khan had a mandatory defence against Maidana and I felt that he should have stayed with Warren, took this fight and then he could have left for America. Then I heard that Warren had got Khan a fight against Bradley but Khan chose to leave Warren instead. Now I read this latest article which I will post a link to below, and if the rumour is true then there is no doubt that Khan's team is side stepping people who they think could upset his rise to the top. I understand that a career has to be managed properly and you have to build someones career in the right way but avoiding people who are meant to be a level below you is not the way to go. I think if Khan wants to be the best then he has to take some control of his own career and stop letting others dictate when he should do.
