Open Question: Netgear wireless n 300 USB adapter not connecting. Please help me.?

Okay I just recently bought a netgear wireless-n 300 USB adapter for my compy and I installed it exactly how they told me to. Anyway I go to connect it, I put in the passphrase, it connects to the modem (2wire AT&T modem) and it tells me it has limited or no connection. It's sending packets but isn't receiving anything. So I know it's not the product and I know I installed it correctly. My computer has accessed it with another WLAN pci card. I uninstalled all of that. Now my problem is I have repaired the connection and the result is I'm not getting an ip address. I check the status and I get acquiring network address. So my question is what is wrong and how do I fix it??? Please help. Thank youUpdate: It seems I do have a ip address but nothing from the dns server. Still no connection. more

Voting Question: Wireless Internet Card Help!?

I was wondering, does the TP-Link TL-WN353G 802.11g 54M 54 Mbps Wireless G Wi-Fi WiFi Network Internet LAN Adapter Dongle PCI Card Desktop/PC work with the HP Compaq Presarion SR5110NX (Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4GHz, 512MB RAM, 120GB HDD, Vista Home Basic)? It says the PCI port entry is 32 BIT and I don't know if that's like whatever the Compaq is. Please help me with my problem. more

Resolved Question: Multiple Internet connections "bridged"....is that at all possible?

Hey all, Recently I've seen Rogers/Telus/Bell usb sticks for 4 x 56k Internet speeds on the chip's wireless net. Basically my question is: Is there any way to bridge/combine the different Internet sources to one pc??? (usb stick net, network wired net, wireless cards, like even maxing out 5 pci slots on a motherboard for network cards is what I was thinking) I thought the nicest combo would be: Cable Internet on one network card ADSL Internet on another network card Bell USB stick on a usb stick Rogers USB stick on another usb stick Telus USB stick on another usb stick Now I realise that 5 seperate Internet bills WOULD cost a lot each month, maybe just ADSL and cable would be awesome (till fiber becomes available, like in 10 years) Just wanting to know if it's possible, in Windows, in Ubuntu Linux, Mac OS X? I'd love an Interrnet box to control the Internet and split it to the rest of my home's Internet needs. more

Resolved Question: Installing wireless card windows 7?

Hi! My dell inspiration just came today and poped out to the shop to buy a wireless pci card. The os is windows 7. I've done this lots of times before. As ive had lots of computers. Never windows 7 and never a 64 bit one, and never one from dell though. But i tought id give it a try. Opened the case conected the pci card to the motherboard. Turned the computer on it doesnt find any wireless card. The driver is installed, ive tried re-installing it several times now with no success. The light at the back of the pci wireless card comes on so it is connected probably. It also does come up in device manager under network devices. Im buffled. I tried another pci wireless card both compltly different makes, one netgear and one linksys. Is the 64bit causing trouble or what is it. its not even in device manager though and thats what strange as even if the driver is not right it should still come up more

Voting Question: Bluetooth Adapter does not work.?

So I got a gift: http://www.canyon-tech.com/products/connectivity/bluetooth/CN-BTU4 It should be "100 meters, up to 3 Mbps" working... But my laptop has it's own wireless bluetooth card inside Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter so instead of giving me those 100 meters it gives me nothing... Because wireless network still uses that Intel Adapter. How do I fix that? (I have already installed CD, I use Windows XP SP3). more

Resolved Question: I need a Wireless Network Adapter Card for my desktop PC, please recommend some specific models?

What are the pros and cons of the PCI types versus the USB types? Which specific brands, and specific models, have the best build quality, best performance and reliability? How do the generic ones compare to the branded ones? Unless there are some very good ones with excellent built-in antennas, I think I would prefer a model with a removable, external antenna, as I may want to experiment with different aftermarket antennas. What website if any, covers this subject well? Thanks for your feedback! more

Voting Question: Do I need: ...a range extender? ...a wireless router? Will something simpler and cheaper suffice?

1) I have a desktop computer (running Windows XP) with a generic-brand Wireless G PCI Adapter Card [it has the standard little antenna on the back] in an office-like area of the house (on the bottom shelf of a large computer desk). 2) A friend has a laptop (also running Windows XP) with a built-in wireless G adapter. 3) When his laptop is in front of (or not too far from) the largest window in the house, it can pick up a local wifi internet connection fairly well -- the "Wireless Network Connection" Dialog Box indicates one to three green bars of signal strength. 4) My desktop tower is not well situated to pick up the same wireless signal -- for whatever reason it only registers zero to one green bar. The internet connection comes and goes and is not reliable. 5) I strongly prefer to leave my desktop PC in its current location. 6) I would like to place a (hopefully simple & inexpensive) device in or near the window that will receive the wireless signal, amplilfy it, and convert it to a hard-wire signal strong enough to run along a 25 to 50 feet ethernet cable, and terminate into the ethernet port on my desktop tower. My questions are: a) Can I buy an inexpensive device that does this (and only this), or must I buy something more complex? b) I am open to suggestions for alternative solutions, but I would prefer to leave my desktop PC in its current location. Thanks for your feedback! more

Voting Question: Will any mini PCI wifi card work in my Toshiba Satellite A15-S129?

I have an older Toshiba Satellite A15-S129 laptop. Right now I'm using a PCMCIA wireless network adapter, but it's a Wireless B card. I'd like to move up to G and I noticed there's an empty mini PCI slot in this thing, and there is an antenna cable present, so I assume you can plug a card in. Is there a model that won't work in this, that I should avoid? more

Hello, I need to buy a network card for my PC since my motherboard only has 1 pci slot which is covered by my graphics card (I'm running CrossfireX). This only leaves me with 1 solution... to go external. I am a huge gamer and I was curious if this will meet my needs of a decent ping on a local server (under 50 but preferably under 30). Resolved Question: wireless network pci card stalling/bsod?

I just got a TP-Link TL-WN650G and stuck it into my pci slot, install went fine until 10 seconds after it clicked 'finish' when my whole computer stalled and I had to hold down to power button to reboot. I went into safemode and it worked fine, I was wirelessly browsing the internet even without any kind of stalling. I rebooted again into standard mode and 10seconds after loading my desktop I got a system stall again and had to reboot (the task bar was bright blue from the moment it appeared, not normal). I'm on windows XP media centre edition with service pack 3 and I have a MSI N1996 mother board. Does anybody have any ideas why this happens when it works in safemode? I'm not interested in getting rid of the driver to avoid crashing, I want to get the driver working properly. Thanks for any info, for the people who reply with 'do system restore' go die in a fire. more
