I am looking at a Sony Satellite Ready radio to replace my older one in my truck. I want the Sony though instead of an XM or Sirius because it has the capability of also playing my iPod. Also, how much would it cost to install at Best Buy or a place like that? moreResolved Question: Satellite radio for 2008 WRX?
OK this year Im going to go for it! I am going to get a satellite radio for my 2008 Subaru WRX. My car is 'satellite ready' but does not have a receiver or anything. Please share your tips for getting one. Brand? What service provider to get? The dealership said it would be 400$ to install and the guy there said all hush hush "do it yourself its much cheaper". Any ideas are a huge help. I don't want top of the line, just basic satellite so I can listen to more music. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. moreResolved Question: I have Sirius Satellite Radio Car Kit and want to hook it up inside the house instead?
Do I have to buy the home kit to install it in my house? The unit I bought comes with the car kit, but I'm home more than I am in my car now since I changed jobs. I don't want to spend the money to buy the home kit if I don't have to. Thanks so much!! I do award best answer points! moreResolved Question: How much to install mp3 support into car?

well, my dad is looking to get a sirius satellite radio set up in his car. it is a 2003 Chevy Impala without onstar with AM/FM/CASSETTE stock head unit. were looking to get him hooked up, but not sure exactly what we need. he is looking to keep his current stock head unit, anything else is too technical for him. i was looking, and would this be all we need? if not then what else: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_607SIRG...GM1.html?tp=87 he only wants the sirius radio for his car, not to be able to take around and such, so what else besides that (if even need that) would we need?yes, thats the same item as i posted, also getting the dash of on the impala wasnt too hard, ive done it before because i had to replace the harness on the cooling/heating knobs and i had to remove it before, only took a few minutes and i belive the stock radio is already sirius radio ready. moreResolved Question: Questions about sirius satellite radio? For a maybe new user?
Hello I'm considering to get a sirius satellite radio because I really like all the channels I'm one of the people who listens to everything and I like that if I'm in the mood for sinatra all I have to do is turn on the station.(which is really nice I'm not limited to listening to sinatra in are local italian resturant) Anyways I was just wandering how good is it and is it worth the money. I figure the 12.95 or whatever a month isn't that bad for all these stations.(which seems to make FM radio look small) Also would it be better to have a professional do the install or is it pretty easy. I also know theres is the XM which do you think is better? For sirius which package should I go with? Any other info will help too. moreResolved Question: Can I install sound system in 07 Ford F150 with stock radio?
I'm just wondering... I just got me a new 2007 Ford F150. I like the stock radio, because it has built in satellite radio and an input aux line. Of coarse FM/AM Radio, and cd player too. I'd like to keep it but I also want to install my alpine system into it also. I just need help with on how to wire everything. moreResolved Question: R&S crowd, I have earthly questions?
OK, so I have a BBQ grill that I love, and has these cast iron cooking surfaces. they rust a little. How do I remove the rust and season them? I know how to season a cast iron pan, but not so sure how to remove the rust. Secondly, some savage broke off the antenna on my toyota forerunner, and I was not fortunate enough to witness it ( i would have spanked that kid in the middle of the parking lot). If I install a Sirius satellite radio, with the hard wire connection to the radio, can I go without the antenna? Yeah, I know that this isnt religious or spiritual, and I know I am trying to squeeze a two-fer in here, but I truly could use some advice on these pressing issues. Deus est mea lux.Mick, loved your answer. I asked God last night, and he said to come here, you silly heretic :) moreVoting Question: Can I get Sirius in my Lexus RX 400h?

If not, please leave your comments to yourself. moreResolved Question: Is there anyway to install a satellite radio in my 2003 G35 without the $600 factory receiver?
Best buy says no but I never really trusted their audio guys. I mean can I hook up the XM or Sirius receivers and hook it up to the factory deck that I supposedly can't replace as well due to it being connected to the whole climate control interface? This is frustrating especially since my CD player doesn't work and Infinity says that will be $400. moreResolved Question: Installing an auxiliary audio input in factory stereo?
I am currently driving a 1998 Dodge Durango with a the factory stereo still installed. Up until today I had been listening to my Satellite radio by utilizing the cassette adapter. Today the player was suddenly unable to play the cassette. It will click and wind but after a few tries it simply ejects the cassette adapter. I bought a new adapter with the same results. Must be the tape deck I assume. Now I am thinking I want to install an auxiliary audio input so that I can get better quality sound out of both my satellite radio as well as be able to plug my ipod in. I have no desire and no funds to purchase a brand new head unit for this car. I want the simplest and cheapest option. Does anyone have any knowledge about how this can be done? What pieces and parts would I need? I am decent with electronics and fairly experienced in stereo installation, but not with this car. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you. moreResolved Question: What is satellite radio for the car?
For Sirius and XM. Can you just buy the radio, install it in your car, subscribe to the radio service or whatever.. and listen to international radios?... Can you listen to any type of genre ever? Can you listen to reggae from jamaica, pop from japan, techno from france? or is it very limited U.S. radio stations rock/hip-hop only is it like internet radio in the car?how do you go about getting/doing this radio? moreResolved Question: Optimum directional source for WiFi...?
I know that WiFi works on radio wave signals, as does satellite cable service and when you install a satellite dish, they always recommend that you face it towards the south (or at least for the Denver area), but if you have a router or antenna for WiFi, is it also the same? I heard it is something that can be done cheaply, but do you need any special connections or hook ups? Are there simple steps you can take if you don't want WiFi to block or cause the signal to be invisibly shielded away from your home? (and I DON'T MEAN--HAVING TO RELOCATE) What is the best way to detect the source of where the WiFi is? I have a friend that lives somewhere that has free WiFi service and is using it for his laptop, if a neighbor uses WiFi, does that mean that I have access to it using their signal without doing anything? Is there a test or way of telling? (I have an older desktop pc) Anyone? moreResolved Question: 2002 Infiniti QX4 cigarette lighter wires?
I'm getting ready to install a plug and play satellite radio in my car and i want to splice into the wires going to the cigarette lighter behind the dash (and add another cig. lighter accessory). That way i can plug in my power adapter and hide all of that behind the dash. I opened it up last weekend and saw that the two wires going to the cig. lighter were colored (one black, with a gray line on it...and one green with a red line on it). I assumed the green one with the red line would be the hot one (+). But, i didn't want to splice it until i was sure. Does anyone with experience in car audio (esp. with Infiniti cars) know which is which?I seem to remember them both going into the back of a connector that then clicked into place to the actual socket. So, i couldn't really tell which one went to the "outer" part and which to the center. moreResolved Question: Which satellite radio service is better XM or Sirius?
Which satellite radio service is better XM or Sirius? and what is the easiest way to install in my 2000 Ford Explorer? moreResolved Question: Sirius Satellite Radio Question...?
Right now I have a Sirius Satellite Radio, Starmate 4 in my car. My question is if I buy the whole setup kit again and install it in my girlfriends car can I put my radio in there and it work too? That way no matter who's car we take when we go out, we can always listen to Sirius, without having to buy another unit. Just wondering if this was possible or if Sirius had a way of blocking this to make more money? I know when you activate it you just give the Serial number on the back of the actual unit. Anybody done this before? Just don't want to buy another kit and it not work in her car. Thanks. moreResolved Question: Auxiliary port on an 08 Mazda 3?
I have an 08 Mazda 3. It currently has a Sirius/XM radio setup. I was told that, in order to use the factory installed auxiliary port in the center console, I would need to install a $300+ splitter to have both the port and the satellite radio. Is there any way that I could get this splitter through a OEM parts dealer? I'm certain that I can install this thing myself, and perhaps save the money in having the dealer do the labor. Anyone know what part it is that I'm looking for? moreResolved Question: Xm Satellite Radio or Sirius?
My mom's rent car is equipped with Sirius Satellite Radio. I have not had much experience with it before, but have fallen in love with it. I am considering getting a satellite radio put into my car. 1. Which is better, XM or Sirius? 2. Are they hard to install, by yourself? 3. Can I use it, even though my car has a "regular" radio and cd player already, albeit a error message sending CD player. What are the differences? Do I need to pay a monthly subscription fee or buy loaded cards? moreResolved Question: Why won't Sims 2 work on my Vista 64-bit laptop?
I just got a good deal on a Toshiba Satellite laptop with 64-bit Vista from Radio Shack. They guaranteed me that this would play Sims 3. Unfortunately, Sims 3 is now set for release June 3rd instead of February 20th as originally planned. I figured I would install Sims 2 in the meantime. It installed fine (other than telling me something from Disc 3 couldn't be copied until I took it out and wiped it off), but when I try to play the game, it crashes immediately after the EA logo disappears. (I literally get a pop-up saying "The program has crashed. Application will now terminate." When I called Radio Shack, they said it was as simple as downloading a patch from the Sims website since most older games won't work on 64-bit Vista. However, this did not work at all. I'm starting to get a little irritated with this Vista thing... Is there anything I can do or will I end up having to return the computer?Intel Pentium processor T3400 4 GB SDRAM, 320 GB HDD moreResolved Question: Will switching out my 2008 Civic head unit for a 2006 XM Ready head unit give me XM?
I own a 2008 Civic Coupe EX. I purchased a 2006 Civic Hybrid head unit to replace my 2008 unit. The 2006 head unit has the “XM/AUX” button on it and the “MP3 (((XM Ready))) WMA” writing below the display. My 2008 head unit does not say XM or XM ready anywhere on the unit. I thought I could switchout the 2006 XM Ready head unit and then activate the XM radio. After investigating further—I am questioning whether I still must purchase and install the Honda XM Satellite Radio unit (P/N 08A15-3J1-000) and the other parts that go along with it?? moreResolved Question: about sirius satellite radio reception?

I purchased an Xpress XM device, and the instructions are asking for me to hook the XM antenna to the vehicle's FM antenna. I walked around my vehicle and cannot locate the antenna. I have a 196 bmw 318i and a radio was installed when I purchased it. Everything was fine, I think my dad pulled it out and I tried plugging everything back in. The only two things I knew to do was the wiring harness and the antenna. When I turned the radio on I heard nothing I made sure the antenna was correctly connected. I noticed there was another plug attached to the antenna plug. It is smaller and it looks like a connection to a satellite radio (satellite input) Kind of like the one in the image. I could not find anywhere to connect it, I am more than sure this is the problem, but if not anyone have any idea what it could be? Or where I can connect this "sat input looking" cable? moreResolved Question: My subwoofers at home picking up radio static?

Started last night in the living room, and this morning same thing in the computer room.We have added no new equipment or changed anything for over a year. Both internet and TV are satellite based.Last year we also experienced what seemed like voices coming through telephone speakers and other speakers. We have recently bought a 2008 Dodge Caravan SXT, without the Nav sysem. It does have satellite radio and TV, touch screen selection. I would like to know if I can install the software to the van's system to use my Bluetooth GPS receiver, basically installing GPS on the system (via the USB port) with an aftermarket GPS receiver. If I can't no big deal - we have no regrets for passing on the Nav system, and the current GPS that I have is rarely used. I know that the USB port is for music downloading onto the factory My Gig entertainmant system, and I don't even know if the port would work to install a program from a thumb drive. I know that the factory My Gig entertainment system has a hard drive of a few gigs, but I don't know if it could run a program. For the 1000 cost when we bought it, my Palm Tom Tom works fine - but if I have all of the needed stuff, I would like to set it up. Just curious.. moreResolved Question: 2008 Toyota RAV4.
