Satellite Radio Car Adapter Questions asked
Voting Question: how to replace my car radio system?
what tools do I need? it appears I'd need a tool to pull it out? I hope it's not too hard to do. Are all car radio system the same in size? I'm trying to buy a new one as the one I have, the cassette tape player is non-functional anymore. I need this so that my sirius/XM satellite radio, which I use a cassette adapter to use, would work.
moreResolved Question: Can't listen to my xm satellite radio cuz my car's tape deck is broken. no fm modulator.?
I have a panasonic XM Inno. It does not have FM modulator capability. I listened to xm/sirius through my tape adapter and now the tape deck in my car suddenly broke and I really don't want to have to get it fixed if I don't have to. It probably costs too much money. What do I do?
I can't clean the tape deck out with a cleaner b/c it spits out my tapes as soon as I put them in.
There is no AUX option in my car either.
Any insight is helpful.
moreResolved Question: Sirius sattelite radio signal?
I just installed a new sirius receiver in my car, the stratus 6. I am getting pretty good satellite signal, but am lacking the necessary terrestrial signal, which reads 0 on the display. this is causing me to get poor reception and the signal fades out a lot. Is there a way to get good reception without buying another adapter and having it installed professionally? i really dont want to pay another 100 bucks.
moreResolved Question: why does the cassette adapter keeps coming out regarding my XM satellite radio?
My cassette adapter keeps coming out of my cassette player. This is required to have to play XM satellite radio in my car. Should I buy a new cassette adapter? What can I do first? This happened before but it got fixed, not sure how.
moreResolved Question: Satellite radio UK advice needed?
I need a removable satellite car radio that works in the UK with whatever service they have here, but also gives me the option to use it when I move to the US with XM radio and such. I would prefer to have a jack connection rather than the casette adapter too please.
Many thanks in advance for your time.
moreResolved Question: '09 Honda Civic Coupe or '09 Beetle convertible?
I'm 16 by the way and a female. If I get this car (the beetle convertible)
http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2008/r-z-0-9/2008-Volkswagen-New-Beetle-Convertible-Driver-Side-Angle-1280x960.jpg
I could get leather seats, a satellite radio, and ipod adapter; but I'm not really a fan of those.
But if I get the honda civic coupe,
http://images.ebizautos.com/sites/stockchrome/colormatched_transparent/640/cc_2009HON004d_640/cc_2009HON004d_640_BK.jpg
then I don't get the leather seats or any of the stuff I get with the beetle convertible.
Which one should I get?
moreResolved Question: If you buy a 2009 BMW M3 without a lot of features now is it possible to add those features later?
Like Sirius Satellite radio, ipod adapter, heated front seats, or anti-theft alarm system. Maybe in a year after i buy the car?Listen Kareem I value your opinion but i do in fact need the power of the M3.
moreResolved Question: Installing an auxiliary audio input in factory stereo?
I am currently driving a 1998 Dodge Durango with a the factory stereo still installed. Up until today I had been listening to my Satellite radio by utilizing the cassette adapter. Today the player was suddenly unable to play the cassette. It will click and wind but after a few tries it simply ejects the cassette adapter. I bought a new adapter with the same results. Must be the tape deck I assume.
Now I am thinking I want to install an auxiliary audio input so that I can get better quality sound out of both my satellite radio as well as be able to plug my ipod in. I have no desire and no funds to purchase a brand new head unit for this car. I want the simplest and cheapest option.
Does anyone have any knowledge about how this can be done? What pieces and parts would I need? I am decent with electronics and fairly experienced in stereo installation, but not with this car. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
moreResolved Question: 2002 Infiniti QX4 cigarette lighter wires?
I'm getting ready to install a plug and play satellite radio in my car and i want to splice into the wires going to the cigarette lighter behind the dash (and add another cig. lighter accessory). That way i can plug in my power adapter and hide all of that behind the dash. I opened it up last weekend and saw that the two wires going to the cig. lighter were colored (one black, with a gray line on it...and one green with a red line on it).
I assumed the green one with the red line would be the hot one (+). But, i didn't want to splice it until i was sure.
Does anyone with experience in car audio (esp. with Infiniti cars) know which is which?I seem to remember them both going into the back of a connector that then clicked into place to the actual socket. So, i couldn't really tell which one went to the "outer" part and which to the center.
moreResolved Question: would this work just the same?
my friend gave me an Xpress EZ XM Satellite radio, and it came with a car adapter, but i don't want to play it in my car, i was wondering if i bought a cassette adapter if i could just play it in my stereo cassette holder? i thought maybe it would just work the same if i set it up that way.
what do you think? or what can i do to possibly play it in my house and not in my car?

moreResolved Question: How do play a Sirious Satellite Radio throught the stereo in the car?
Ok I know I can have a plug and play kit for the car but I was thinking do I need and adapter or tuner or something else. What im saying is I want it to come through my radio like most of the new cars have these days. I dont want a dock in my car wher I got to put the radio in it or something. i would just rather have it come through my stereo in my car. I have a tv/cd player/radio in my car.
moreResolved Question: about sirius satellite radio reception?
so I am thinking about getting a sirius installed in my car. I saw the instructional video and it seems easy enough to install.
I was just wondering if there is any major problem with reception of the radio if I use the fm transmitter that comes with the box.
How important do you think that I should get a direct FM adapter for guaranteed good reception?
moreResolved Question: Can someone explain satellite radio to me, please?
I'm thinking about purchasing a kit that includes: Includes satellite radio receiver, car cradle, remote control, UL listed DC adapter, antenna, cassette adapter, car mount, and vent clip.
I see that this has a casette adapter, but will this work without using the casette adapter?
My husband has a 2007 Ford Ranger with no tape deck. He wants satellite radio for Christmas, and I want to surprise him. I just don't want to buy the wrong thing cause I'm totally clueless!!
If this wont work without tape deck, can anyone explain how to hook these up or give me any recommendations of a kit to purchase that's easy to install?
There's another I've looked at that includes: Express EZ XM receiver
XMSC1 sure connect antenna
Home dock
Mobile dock
AC adapter
12V power adapter
RCA audio cables
Vent clip
Three-month XM activation card.
Basically, I am so confused! HELP!
moreVoting Question: We need help finding the right new car for us?
Thanks to the recent flooding in Illinois and Indiana our 2004 Pontiac was declared dead by the insurance. So now we have to buy a new car. After dealing with the Pontiac Grand Am and its poor mileage and repairs every six months or so we are ready to go Foreign. Although I have done research on several vehicles online and in various consumer magazines I still would rather hear the opinion of those who actually depend on the cars. So we basically have two questions:
1. What foreign car would you recommend to us? or discourage us from buying?
and
2. Although not foreign, we also like the Ford Focus (It is the only domestic car we are considering). Does anyone recommend this vehicle or discourage the purchase of it?
Please keep in mind when answering the question that we are looking to spend no more than $18,000. We would prefer new, but are open to used. Mileage is important, but we do not want a hybrid since their batteries are ridiciously priced. We want a coupes or a sedan, but definately no hatchbacks. Also we do not want features such as Satellite radio or spoilers (or any racing accessories as those just make us targets to the police). We basically just want air conditioning, cigarette lighter (to plug in our phone chargers) and an MP3/IPod jack or adapter. Also we already own a Scion TC and do not want another one. I know this is really specific, but I really hope you all can help us make a better choice this time around than we did three years ago when buying the Pontiac Grand Am.
moreResolved Question: How do you remove the stock radio from an '06 Ford Explorer?
I just recently bought an iPod adapter for my '06 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition. I need to pull out the stock 6 CD changer radio so I can plug in the adapter and set it into the back of it. Does anyone how to get the radio out without tearing up the car?
p.s. if anyone has tips on installing these kind of adapters that'd be great. it's a brandmotion that plugs into the auxiliary satellite input.
Thank you for any help!
moreResolved Question: Sirius Satellite Radio Question???

moreResolved Question: sirius satellite radio in 2005 Grand Cherokee?
I have Sirius sat radio but the reception of my Jeep car radio is pathetic ( this bad radio can't even pick up well enough the signal from the tiny sat receiver/sender inside my car). SO I need something with which I can connect the sat receiver with the radio directly. However, all the stuff that best buy/sirius sell (relay adapters etc) is not compatible with my freakin Jeep car radio crap. Any thought on what to do-- other than cancelling the sirius service or getting rid of the car? Thanks!
moreResolved Question: How do I install my Sirius FM Direct Adapter into a 2004 Silverado?
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado and have already installed the Sirius Satellite so that it is picked up on an unused station on my radio. I just bought the FM Direct Adapter and was going to install it but I don't know where the antenna from my vehicle comes from so that I can plug it into the direct adapter. The instructions say it comes right into the radio but after pulling the radio out all I see is the multicolored wires and a thicker black wire that doesn't appear to be removeable. I don't know enough about car audio to go any further. Help would be appreciated.
moreResolved Question: What's the best way to add mp3 player capability to my car?
I drive a Mitsubishi Eclipse 2007 and it has a pretty nice factory audio system with an am/fm/6-cd head unit, 10-inch woofer and mp3 disk capabilities. One thing which is conspicuously missing is an audio jack for an mp3 player or satellite radio.
While there is no "AUX" button, when I cycle through the inputs with the steering wheel controls, an AUX option appears. I cannot find any audio jack anywhere in the car and the manual does not have any information of it. I figure this is just a mistake or something that couldn't be engineered around.
My real problem is that I want to hook up my mp3 player to my car but what most of my friends use is an fm radio adapter but it always provides lackluster sound quality with intermittent interference.
Is there a higher powered fm adapter that you recommend or is there another option for me to hook up my mp3 player?
moreResolved Question: If a car has on star, but it is not activated, is there a way to use satellite radio ?
I was gonna get get it back when I got the car. Then, they said with on star activated, I could only run it through like the am or something. Now I don't use my on star and was wondering if there is a way to use it without some sort of am adapter?
moreResolved Question: Why is my radio not working?
Ok, here's the deal. The radio is only a few months old, no prior problems. I had problems with my power adapter for my satellite radio but replaced the fuse under the hood and that problem was corrected. Then the radio went nuts. It is receiving power bc the red light blinks and when the lights to my car are on the blue display on the radio faceplate powers up. Otherwise, the radio does nothing. I have hit the reset button and it still is doing nothing. Whats my problem?

moreResolved Question: Siruis satellite radio?
I just installed a Sirius radio within my car. I followed the manual and online instructions completely. I have my frequency set correctly however I am constantly receiving interferance//bad quality sound. I think it may have to do the with my FM frequency adapter. I have it hooked up correctly and placed within my front windshield adjacent to my car antenna. Does anyone have any suggestions on other things I can try that may give me better sound quality? I feel like I have tried everything.
moreResolved Question: Sirius Sportster 4 FM Transmission?
I recently upgraded my Sirius satellite radio from the Starmate 3 to the Sportster 4. With the Starmate, I used the built-in FM transmitter and tuned it into an FM channel. I was quite pleased with the audio quality, however with the Sportster 4, I am very displeased and frustrated by the quality when using the FM transmission features. The factory setting for FM transmission on the unit is 88.1, however in my area (Wash, DC), other frequencies conflict with it. When I navigate to other stations and match the station up on my car radio, it never connects. 88.1 is the only channel that works, with much static. I have considered hardwiring the unit, but removing my radio to attach the adapter to do so seems risky with my anti-theft device. I could pay to have it installed (which I may end up doing), but I'd like to save money and do it myself, if possible. Would anyone have advice on how they use their Sportster unit?
moreResolved Question: 07 Corolla/iPod2Car question?
I have a 2007 Corolla LE with the six-disc in-dash factory changer. I recently purchased an iPod2Car adapter which is stated to work with the stereo ("Most car stereos have the capability to handle a CD changer in the trunk or glove box of the vehicle, or the option to add a satellite radio. The iPod2Car adapter plugs into this available plug on the back of the radio, and allows your radio to recognize the iPod like a CD Changer. If you have a CD changer in the trunk or glove box, it will need to be disconnected in order to use the adapter. If your CD changer is built into the radio, it will continue to work perfectly.")
My question is, has anyone tried to use on of these with the 07 (or 06) Corolla, is the install difficult, and will it void my warranty through Toyota on the vehicle?
