Voting Question: Why does my Sirius Satellite radio works with no subscription?

I have a Starmate 1 that I suspended service on in 2004 and know for certain that the subscription was canceled. I broke the antennae on my car and chose to just install the Sat Radio because I've gotten tired of all the commercials on radio. Anyway, put it in the car to test it out before I called and had the service reactivated and it worked, all the channels, perfectly. Does anyone know why this is? Did I just get lucky? more

well i don't know to much about car stereos, but i have a 2008 ford suv and well im looking to get a nice sub system for my car with in my budget. my budget is $500-$700 for the subs amp box and cables etc etc and $500-$600 for the window speakers and amp for that(if needed). for the subs and amp etc etc i would like my subs to be 2 15's and something around 4,000 watts for my amp and i would leave my car radio stocked as it has a 6cd changer, and sirius-xm satellite radio built in(witch i bump sat radio heavy) and 4 window speakers all 2 way. also i would like it all 2 b name brand equipment(if thats possible for my budget). so can any one please help me and put to together a nice little stereo system package? thanx in advance more

I bought a Mazda RX 8 used (5000 miles) and it's the sport trim. There is no AUX port for my ipod, but I was wondering if there was a way to get one in or listen to the ipod crystal clear (those FM ones don't do it). I was told at Best Buy that the whole radio would have to be replaced, which would run quite a bit of money. Are there other options? And what's that SAT button on my audio? I just purchased a used 07 Lexus IS 250 and thought that it had satellite radio since the dash has a SAT option and the car has a fin antenna, but unfortunately it does not. I went to Best Buy to try to buy the equipment needed and they told me I would have to buy it from the dealership and it would run me close to $700. Is this correct? Resolved Question: The Sat Signal in my GPS drops when I turn on FM radio. Why? ...solution?

The satellite signal strength bar drops to low or poor reception when my FM radio(music) is ON. I can no relocate it because there is interference within 1 foot radius. Placing my GPS away, like below the car radio or away in the passenger side is not safe specially that there are air bag locations to avoid. the unit has suddenly stopped working. it reads the CD but wont pick up any satellites. its a land rover free lander 04 plate hse. built in sat nav unit. the radio and cd player still work ok. i have tried re setting the unit by pressing 1,3 and tp together this does reset the unit but still no satellites. any ideas. more

Resolved Question: Since when did FM stations improve their online listening feature sound quality?

I havent listened to a radio station online for a year or two, but the last time I did, the sound quality was poor, like listening to satellite radio (that hollering in a barrel sound that sat. radio has due to its lack of bandwidth.)... Well earlier today I listened to a few online and the quality is just as great as tuning into the FM station in my car or home stereo! ..so I listened to a few more, and they all sound great online, just curious, when did they make this great improvement? My father bought me a Sirius satellite radio a year ago and I have loved it every moment since. Crystal clear sound, lots of talk stations including all 24 hour news channels live and crystal clear commercial free music stations. With my stiletto 2 I can record songs I hear on the radio at the push of a button if I like them, priceless to me, especially since I used to spend a lot on itunes, now its almost free. I am sad it has not caught on more seeing as how sirius may be filling for chapter 11 bankruptcy soon. Hopefully they will come out ok so I do not have to go back to what I call "the poor mans radio". So, Who has a sat radio? more

Just got a 1000w RCA home theater/surround sound system. I have the Satellite hooked up with an optical cable. When watching TV I have to turn the the home theater to max volume and the SAT volume up to hear it. If I switch it over to radio it is loud. How can I fix this? I already have an Ipod control cable hooked to my Pioneer stereo and want to hook just the audio for my satellite radio to the unit as well(I don't NEED to control my satellite with the head unit). How do I daisy-chain two cables together(My Ipod cable, and a IP/Bus cable w/ RCA jacks on it)? I just bought a 2005 Dodge Durango and the factory installed sound system seems to be trying to detect satellite radio. There is a mode setting and an LED read out that says " No SAT found". Does this mean that if I subscribe to Sirius Radio that I don't have to have one of those units stuck on my dashboard? Thanks for anyone that can answer or offer advise on the service. more

Resolved Question: Urgent 10 points best answer...1996 318i Radio Install Question?

I have a 196 bmw 318i and a radio was installed when I purchased it. Everything was fine, I think my dad pulled it out and I tried plugging everything back in. The only two things I knew to do was the wiring harness and the antenna. When I turned the radio on I heard nothing I made sure the antenna was correctly connected. I noticed there was another plug attached to the antenna plug. It is smaller and it looks like a connection to a satellite radio (satellite input) Kind of like the one in the image. I could not find anywhere to connect it, I am more than sure this is the problem, but if not anyone have any idea what it could be? Or where I can connect this "sat input looking" cable? more

The dealer has offered me more for my Camry Hybrid which is an 07 with 20K miles on it versus a new 08 Prius. The Prius is missing two options I have on my Camry, the Navigator and the satellite radio. However, I can pick up a Sat radio for less then 100 bucks and I really don't use the built in Navigator. I just bought a '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd with Nav. System, Sat. Radio, etc. For some reason mt satellite radio is not working. Resolved Question: Vauxhall Vectra W reg 2000 radio/CD/sat nav "infotainment" system is not working properly - only radio works.

It's an integrated radio/cd/sat nav system (works off a cd) which has a small display system in the dashboard and controls lower down with the cd/radio. The problem is that the display is blank, the cd and satellite navigation don't work. The radio is stuck on one station, the tp button works and the volume works, that's it. Any advice on how to fix this or who to approach gratefully received! more

I have Sirius sat radio but the reception of my Jeep car radio is pathetic ( this bad radio can't even pick up well enough the signal from the tiny sat receiver/sender inside my car). I know that with FM antennas how you can get more signal, does the same thing apply with a satellite radio antenna, or do I need to place the sat. receiver in a better spot? It seems when I move the receiver the signal comes in, but when I move the antenna, most of the time nothing happens. From time to time it's coming in, then drifts back out, so I am getting some signal. I don't know if wrapping the antenna cord around metal matters or not, it doesn't seem to.Streaming radio is blocked.
