Resolved Question: Received a Sirius satellite car radio for Christmas, is it worth it?

Okay so I was at one time interested in getting this, but sort of tuckered out. My girlfriend decided to get me one of the Sirius radios with a vehicle kit for Christmas and I did some research about how the company worked before signing up. Previously I had one of the FM transmitters for my iPod and it worked horribly...lots of static and never a clear reception. Obviously I don't want to use this and I don't have an Aux in input on my car stereo so I either have to get it directly wired to my FM Antenna or get a new head unit. Also I hear their service can be quite ridiculous when trying to sign up and that they like to sneak in hidden fees and have almost an absolutely horrid customer service department. I do drive often and would love to have something like this, but is it worth it? Anyone else have problems they'd like to share or such? more

Do I have to buy the home kit to install it in my house? The unit I bought comes with the car kit, but I'm home more than I am in my car now since I changed jobs. I don't want to spend the money to buy the home kit if I don't have to. What if I have a stereo already in the house, can I use that as my speakers to play the radio on in my house or it is required that I buy the home kit to hook the radio up in my house? Right now I have a Sirius Satellite Radio, Starmate 4 in my car. My question is if I buy the whole setup kit again and install it in my girlfriends car can I put my radio in there and it work too? That way no matter who's car we take when we go out, we can always listen to Sirius, without having to buy another unit. Just wondering if this was possible or if Sirius had a way of blocking this to make more money? I know when you activate it you just give the Serial number on the back of the actual unit. Anybody done this before? Just don't want to buy another kit and it not work in her car. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: My Sirius Starmate 2 is acting weird?

I have the home kit and the car kit. The home kit works flawlessly. The car kit started acting weird a while ago. It will play fine for a while and then it will start doing these pops and buzzes here and there and it's really annoying. It's not just the radio station I'm using with the fm transmitter either. I have tried just about every empty radio station I could find to try and get it to work and it's still doing it. The radio reciever itself is not the problem because it works fine with the home kit. This car I'm driving is new....well used....but new to me. I've had the car a year but I didn't have any problems with the sirius radio at all until about 4 months ago. The regular car radio antennae is on the roof near the back of the car, so I thought maybe the fm transmitter is having trouble sending a signal back there to the regular radio antennae, but that doesn't make sense because I went about 8 months in this car with no problems at all. Why would the antennae location suddenly matter. It worked before. The only thing I can think is that I messed up the satellite antennae cord somehow or the power cord. Maybe I accidentally cut or mangled one of the cords to the point where it is messing up the signal. I don't know. It's annoying. Any ideas? more

I have a Pioneer stereo that will operate my Sirius radio, I currently have the car kit and want to use the stereo to control the Sirius unit(It is a 'Satellite Ready' head unit.). I don't know if I need the Sirius SC-VDOC1 or the SiriusConnect CD-SB10. Sirius isn't the best at making sure you don't have redundant equipment, so I'm a little lost here. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: My Sirius Satellite Radio was Stolen, What Now?

I had a Sirius Stiletto 100 with a car kit. The Stiletto 100 And the car kit were stolen, but the thief broke the antenna cable (too much work to get the antenna huh?). I filed a police report, and deactivated the Stiletto on my account. The problem is, the Sirius tries to avoid any responsibilities in thievery. Every unit has a unique SID and it can be tracked when someone tries to register it. Sirius was nice enough to send me a free replacement radio (a stratus, but not nearly as nice as a Stiletto). But what can I do now? Are there any ways I can (cheaply) insure a Sirius radio or gps? How can I make sure that Sirius will NOT reactivate my Stiletto for a thief? Thanks for any ideas. more

yo im lookin to buy this car 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse, just rolled over 100,000 miles. Only 23,000 miles have been put on the car in the last six years. It is automatic and non turbo. I purchased a Sirius Satellite radio set-up....for one car. I would like to move it to my '07 Mazda. I was told, where I purchased the radio, that I would only need to get a wire with two male ends (to hook into the cars antenna) to hook it up to the Mazda.... Where do I plug the end in to the car? For my other car I got the kit the plugs into the back of the radio ....But I was told that was very hard to do with the Mazda and that this male ended wire would be all that I would need...... more

My boyfriend's birthday is next week and I have decided to get him a Sirius satellite radio and car kit. I want him to be able to listen to it at home too. So I was thinking about getting him the dock that he can hook into the TV speaker system. But he also plays xbox, using the surround sound speakers hooked up to the TV, so i figured he might like the boombox...so he could listen while like playing games and stuff, or maybe he wont want to? I have a Sirius Starmate radio with the car kit that is supposed to keep the radio suctioned to the windshield. But, the heat (I'm guessing) keeps popping the suction off the windshield. I keep moistening the suction cup and that isn't helping. Any advice would be great. more

My wife bought me a Sirius satellite radio for X-mas. I had it installed by a friend and I dont like the method of installation. There is a lot of static when you go through a blank FM station. I want it hard wired to my existing Ford stereo. I have a 2004 explorer with a 6 CD holder stereo. There is a button on the front of the radio that says SAT. It is for a Satellite radio. I took it to a car electronics store and asked about a kit from Ford to directly hook up the satellite radio. They didn't know. Does anybody know if this is possible and where can I get the kit. more

I'm looking into satellite radio and was wondering which is better. I'm leaning toward Sirius but would like to hear what others have to say.
