Sirius Satellite Radio Home Antenna Questions asked

Resolved Question: will a direct tv satelite dish work as a sirius radio antenna?

I have a direct tv satellite dish that I want to connect my sirius radio to as my home/in-house antenna. Will that work? I do not have an account with direct tv. The antenna is set-up on the roof with the cable running down from it into the house. Has anyone tried this. t more

Resolved Question: How do you clean a sirius satellite radio w/speaker dock(inside home) radio?

I need something that is going to work really well, to clean the WHOLE RADIO(antenna and cord, speaker dock, radio) without damaging any of the radio and its parts. Please tell me what you use to clean yours and how. This is my first time cleaning it and feedback would really be appreciated. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Will a Sirius XM Mirge radio work with a universal Sirius radio boombox?

I currently have a Sportster 5 playing on a Sirius universal boombox. If I get a mirge radio, will I be able to use it with the equipment I already have? I was also wondering if I would need to buy a new home antenna to pick up a signal from both Sirius and XM satellites. more

Resolved Question: How do I get FM Radio Signal from a city 110 miles away?

I live 110 miles away from Dallas, TX, and I love the FM radio stations they have there. However I'm too far to get the signal with normal radio devices. I have considered satellite radio such as XM or Sirius, but they are too expensive to set up, and I'm considering them as a last resource. What I would like is to just set up a simple antenna that would receive Dallas FM stations and sends them to my Home Theater. Any help would be awesome. Thank you all very much!Oh, one last thing. I have only one computer available and its used mostly all the time by my step son. He plays his own music and plays games while I want to play my music. So streaming from the computer wouldn't work, as I wouldnt want to hear random gunshots or races or whatever in the middle of a Mozart symphony. Plus, the PC is too far away from my BOSE speakers, and extending a cable all the way there would be ugly and bulky. more

Resolved Question: Where can i find an antenna-less xm radio or sirius satellite receiver. Kind of like a GPS look a like?

A friend of mine back home had a xm radio or sirius radio reciever in his truck, and it did not have any annoying antenna wire. the only wire protruding from the receiver was the power wire that connects to the ciggarette lighter. The receiver had the suction cup to the front windshield and im guessing the antenna was located in the suction cup. Where or what model can I find this satellite radio receiver???? And i would ask my friend for the model but he lives thousand and thousands of miles away from me and i dont have his phone number. Thanks more

Resolved Question: Need quick/easy way to attach this...?

I just bought a home kit with outdoor antenna for my sirius satellite radio. I live in a brick home, how should I attach this antenna to the exterior of my home? I don't really want to drill, I have heard using might putty or epoxy? any other ideas? more

Resolved Question: My Sirius Starmate 2 is acting weird?

I have the home kit and the car kit. The home kit works flawlessly. The car kit started acting weird a while ago. It will play fine for a while and then it will start doing these pops and buzzes here and there and it's really annoying. It's not just the radio station I'm using with the fm transmitter either. I have tried just about every empty radio station I could find to try and get it to work and it's still doing it. The radio reciever itself is not the problem because it works fine with the home kit. This car I'm driving is new....well used....but new to me. I've had the car a year but I didn't have any problems with the sirius radio at all until about 4 months ago. The regular car radio antennae is on the roof near the back of the car, so I thought maybe the fm transmitter is having trouble sending a signal back there to the regular radio antennae, but that doesn't make sense because I went about 8 months in this car with no problems at all. Why would the antennae location suddenly matter. It worked before. The only thing I can think is that I messed up the satellite antennae cord somehow or the power cord. Maybe I accidentally cut or mangled one of the cords to the point where it is messing up the signal. I don't know. It's annoying. Any ideas? more

Voting Question: Signal and WiFi for Sirius Satellite Radio?

I have a portable Sirius radio device, Stilletto 100 and I bought the home set so I could get a better signal, I live in Martinsville, Virginia and put the antenna outside and it will get a better signal but sometimes it won't and its very frustrating because i spent a lot of money on it and it doesnt work half the time, so if anybody knows what i can do to make it so i can get a signal all the time please help... and also, I have wireless internet in my house and I turned the WiFi thing on and it detects my internet but won't connect, so if anybody knows about this also, please help me, thank you. more

Resolved Question: Sirius Satellite and Satellite Ready Home Theater Tuners?

I just purchased an Onkyo Receiver that is Sirius Satellite Ready. It has a spot for an antenna. I currently have a Sirius radio with a car dock and a home dock. Can I use the Satellite antenna from that radio? Or do I have to buy another antenna and add an additional subscription? I currently have one for me and one for my wife. more

Resolved Question: What frequency range does Sirius Sat. Radio transmit on? (not the FM modulator!)?

Actual frequency - not FM. (NO! it is not 87.1 MHz to 107 MHz) What is the downlink frequency from the satellites. My home Sirius radio has trouble acquiring a good signal. I am thinking about buying a preamp from Radio Shack and modifying the cable to work with the Sirius antenna & cable. (Yes, I know how to attach connections and/or adaptors on a cable) Thanks AB4CT - Amateur Radio Operator for 45 years more

Resolved Question: Satellite Radio, Sirius or XM?

What do people like better, Sirius or XM? And why? Where will you use it? Sirius offers NFL, NBA, Howard Stern, OutQ and UK Soccer. XM offers MLB, Hockey, Fox Sports and Sporting News Radio and more talk stations than Sirius along with (what I think) is better selection of music (XM goes deeper). XM also has a station called "Cinemagic" which plays nothing but movie soundtracks from movies (really cool). Now the tricky part is where you're going to use it. In the car, both will give you good reception, Sirius a bit better in inner cities as Sirius has 3 moving sats that are higher in the sky. XM has 3 geo-sync SATS that do not move. HOME use, XM is a easy, just point it to the south and most times you can keep the antenna indoors. Sirius must face north towards North Dakota and 90% of the time the antenna must be outdoors up as high as possible (unless Sirius has a Terrestrial tower in your city, then indoors will work).Keep in mind you can have 1 receiver (for either XM or Sirius) and move it use it in your car then take it into the house with you. Plus I forgot to add XM has Opie & Anthony (Howards competation) and Ron and Fez. SO which is it? Or are you like me who has both XM and Sirius? My take is one is not better than the other. Both have good and bad points. I know people who wanted Sirius at home, but just could not install the antenna outside to get steady reception (with SIrius moving sats you may get a signal then it will drop out for a hour or so then come back on again). And I know people who paid satellite installers to put up an antenna (TERK SIR-6 along with TERN 50 foot cable) high outside their house to get Sirius. Here is where Sirius needs improvement. So many home users can't get reception where XM is a snap, again due to the Sirius Sats. You can download a free Satellite tracker: http://www.stoff.pl Download, then click OTHER COMM click Sirius XMI tend to think of (in terms of music) as Sirius as the flashy new "hipp" guy, with all the latest music, and XM as the "geeky" guy who has all the music and tunes that go much deeper than Sirius. I read somewhere that XM outnumbers Sirius in number of songs owned over Sirius. Plus I love the Cinemagic station XM has! Then again, Sirius has Jay Thomas (funny talk guy) and naturally Howard Steren. And in the gay community OutQ is very popular (Derek and Romaine are great hosts).I ALWAYS thought to myself "why would anyone pay to listen to the radio?" This until a family member purchased a new SUV with XM radio in it. From where I was hooked! It's so much better listening to radio with no commercials. And XM has Cinemagic! more
