Resolved Question: Will Phoenix Gold RSdC102 sound good with .5 cubic feet per sub of Air Space?

If so, what should I use? I am going to use my old Sony head unit, because I like the interface, but I don't think it is powerful enough. Should I get an equalizer or does it not matter? Resolved Question: My AM/FM radio reception on my home receiver is really bad, what component will make it better?

I live a long ways from anyplace and have noticed that I can receive much better radio in my car than in my house. I have a Rotel 1056 receiver and a Terk Tower Amplified indoor AM/FM antenna. Since I wold really like to be able to listen to the radio at home, I was wondering if any of the following would work the best fr capturing all the stations I am able to hear in my car, but not my home. I am not interested in Satellite Radio. Sangean HDT-1X http://www.crutchfield.com/p_671HDT1X/Sangean-HDT-1X.html Sangean HDT-1 HD Radio Component Tuner http://www.amazon.com/Sangean-HDT-1-Radio-Component-Tuner/dp/B000J13TEE/ref=cm_lmf_tit_3_rdssss0 Sony XDRF1HD HD Radio Tuner http://www.amazon.com/Sony-XDRF1HD-HD-Radio-Tuner/dp/B00168Q248/ref=pd_cp_e_0 Sony XDR-S3HD HD Radio http://www.amazon.com/Sony-XDR-S3HD-HD-Radio/dp/B000ROKSN8I was particularly wondering about the Sony since the Crutchfield page says, "More listening options: A multicast-compatible HD Radio receiver lets you pull in extra channels that regular radios can't get." Resolved Question: Does HDMI work both ways?

Ok I'm not tech savvy, but I'm not a tech idiot either. We have a Sony Bravia 1080(i or p, I don't remember) and a Sony receiver/surround sound/DVD player/FM radio all in one. I recently purchased an HDMI cable to improve the quality when watching DVDs. We were using your basic old school RCA red/white/yellow cables. I have noticed that picture is incredibly improved and I have also noticed that sound quality is much better and operates at a much lower volume (used to have volume waaaay up to hear dialogue). Anyway, to the point. My Sony home theater system has the option to run surround sound from TV or Satellite/Cable input, but there are very few hookups in the back of the receiver. (One HDMI, ont optical audio, and the red/white video) Will the HDMI run audio from the TV or Cable box just from the one HDMI cable hooked up to the TV? If not, how can this be done?I also wanted to add that while there are several input "functions" in the receiver, there is no designation on the back as to where to plug in audio from TV or Satellite/Cable. That's why I was wondering if the one optical audio input would be for the Cable and the HDMI would "carry" the audio back from the TV? Not sure if that makes sense, but how else would it differentiate between TV audio and Cable audio?Robert W - There are no component hookups on the back of the receiver. Only AV or HDMI. Grumpy Mac - Is HDMI better than component for HDTV? The cable company supplied component cables for the cable to TV. No AV cables used for Cable TV. Another question too...would it be better to run audio from the TV itself or from the Cable box? Reason I ask is since I have a Wii and would like quality sound for that too. more

Resolved Question: Can you hook a 2.7 ohm amp to a 1.5 ohm Sub?

I've purchased a used Sony DAV-DX150 home theater system, but it didn't come with any speakers. I've purchased to front channel speakers at Radio Shack, but now I'm looking at a subwoofer. I'm looking at an ebay item, a Sony SS-WS72 subwoofer that originally was part of a Sony Bravia system. The specs for the receiver say the impedance is 2.7ohm on the Sub channel, the Subwoofer is rated at 1.5 ohm. I only have 2 front speakers and no satellites (going for 2.1). They have worked fine for a month or so with absolutely no problems what-so-ever, and just this past week when listening to music relatively loud (but still hardly pushing my subs or amp to their potential) the bass will all of a sudden drop out of the music. The amp is only hooked up to the subwoofers, and I have checked all of the connections on all components multiple times and they are all clean, tight, and secure. I cannot find any solutions to my bass randomly going out then a few notes later coming back on, then going out later in the song. It does this with any song on a CD, tuner, or iPod, does not matter what format it is in. more

Resolved Question: OK. This is a good one. I just can't figure it out.?

I just purchased today a Sony car stereo and had it insalled at Circuit City. My old stereo was working fine. It was an older Sony. I just wanted one with an auxiliary input because I also bought a new satellite radio. Anyway, everytime I turn on my turn signal in either direction, I loose almost all speaker function except for the ones in the front and it sounds like it's a mile away. WTF is going on? The other deck didn't do this. So, my question is, is it the deck, the wiring, or the signal switch? I am definately bringing the car back to them but I won't be able to do it until my next day off which isn't until Saturday. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?j Best answer will be chosen by asker btw. Thank you in advance. more

Resolved Question: Help with replacing factory radio in 2005 VW Jetta?

The previous owner replaced the factory radio head unit with some Sony piece of crap, and I want to reinstall the original factory head unit. I want to make sure the satellite radio and the steering wheel controls still work with the new radio. So the question is, is there a particular VW radio that I need to buy that works with the satellite and steering wheel, or do all the cars use the same radio (regardless of whether they have satellite radio or steering wheel controls)? Resolved Question: 2004 Corolla S In-dash CD Player install?

Ok bear w/ me, I'm in no way "car savvy". I am getting a 2004 Corolla Sport in January. I want to get a better CD player than just the stock one like one with an aux jack for my Mp3 player and maybe one that is satellite-radio ready or something of the sort. I am concerned because the console that the stock CD player is in is so large that when I install the other CD player that it will look weird or there will be extra open space or something. Here is a picture of the audio console: http://www.edmunds.com/vehiclepicture.100282812..20156346.7.html And here is a pic of the CD player I want to install: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-In-Dash-Player-CDXGT310/sem/rpsm/oid/159659/catOid/-13089/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do So my question is, has anyone upgraded in some similar way and what happened to the extra space. Resolved Question: What is the best after-market satellite-ready, Ipod input option radio for a 2005 Saturn Ion?

I have an XM-ready 2005 Saturn Ion. I am now considering purchasing an aftermarket radio so that I have the option of directly connecting my Ipod to my car stereo (those FM tuner things never work right...ugh). I am also considering switching over from XM to Sirius (gotta love Howard Stern and the merger is taking too long). I have narrowed my search down to several models, but know very little about after-market stereos because I usually just deal with the stock system. I used Crutchfield.com to help me find models that will fit my car and fit the criteria I want. The models I am looking at are as follows: Sony CDX-GT410U Sony CDX-GT81UW Kenwood KDC-MP535U Kenwood Excelon KDC-X591 Kenwood Excelon KDC-X791 Does anyone have personal experince or technical advice for models I should consider morestrongly or avoid all together? For example, if I get it all set to how I want it, turn the car off, then turn it right back on, my settings are all gone back to default. Or if I switch from XM to CD then back again, my settings are all erased. The settings on the CD player never change from how I set them though. Any idea on how to fix this? more

Resolved Question: Sony Walkman or Satellite Radio?

My mom wants to update her old Sony Walkman that she listens to while at work to block surrounding noise. I have been looking at the Sony Walkman's because that is what she has now. Although you pay high dollar for the sony devices because they have room for MP3's. She isn't into MP3's and would only listen to FM radio while at work. I've been wanting Satellite Radio for some time now. I'm just not sure I want to pay the price for the radio + subscription right now. I will eventually get either XM or Sirius satellite radio though. Should I tell her to get the Sony Walkman and pay for something she won't use (MP3 room) or should we go ahead and get Satellite Radio that we would both use? We both like the idea of having the devices portable. Help?!?What about the new Delphi SkyFi 3? more
