Resolved Question: Slightly lengthly satellite radio question...?

Ok I had Sirius service while back, but cancelled it year or so later. I since moved and when I unpacked my old receiver and hooked it up, I was still getting service so I shut my mouth and took advantage. Problem is, my receiver is old now and is failing me so I was wondering, if I get a new receiver do I have to set it up with Sirius again and jeopardize my free service or will it just switch service from the old unit to the new? Btw, I don't mind paying for it if I have to, but I just wanted to continue to take advantage of someone else's mistake lol. more

my little brother is infatuated with this map and he says he will only play with me on b.net if i play with him on this map. it gets VERY boring and i would like to know some stuff to get ahead of him. He always kills me and gets all the stuff. what are some things and strategies to do to do well. Here are the rules we play by: 1. Nobody can own the farm 2. Absolutely No Bug abuse (if you find a bug that i dont list tell me cause i might be able to slip it in or make an exception with him) 3. If you have a problem try to work it out (just dont quit or kill someone) 4. If you cannot work it out kill them but you have to tell them that you are going to unally them 5. If you kill someone they have to give you thier items and or sell you thier property. 6.No sherrif's badge 7. Limit 1 bodyguard/ex marine, 1 damage pet, 1 alien 8. we play with 3 people and on clover day the most you can get is 3 and you cannot get 3 if someone has gotten 3 already that day. 9. no robbing the bank in any way. 10. you start teenager and cannot grow up till lvl 10. 11. we increases the max level to past 20 and added tomes +1 for 1k gold 11.(b) i found a problem with tomes, once u reach a ceartain amount of stats using tomes you will lose all tomes bonuses when you use your free stat from leveling up. 12. No maids Medalion 13. No exp tomes that are scattered 14. No healing alien to increase it's mana 15. No unequip- equip weapon for more mana 16. Resolved Question: What's the old school rap song with really deep laughter?

I was listening to satellite radio and I heard it.. and I'm dying to know what it is! It's really separated laughs... it's like "Ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha" and it's kind of slow. It's NOT 50 Cent's "Straight to the Bank" either. He's not old school!!! I loveeee music and I gotta know what this one is. I'm sorry my description is so vague... It's all I got. Hopefully one of you old school rap gurus out there will think I'm silly for not knowing, and give me the answer! more

Voting Question: Can Man send manned or unmanned spacecrafts far out into Space?

During the the Cold War and the Vietnam War the US government was being funded by the making and the selling of drugs. Now, that people have gotten wise to this scheme they've decided to come up with another...Space Travel? Just the other day I learned that when NASA sent a radio signal, traveling at the speed of light(186,000m/sec), to the spacecraft Voyager supposedly orbiting Neptune, it took 4hrs. First question came to mind was how long did it take for the spacecraft itself to reach Neptune. So, I did the math. First the distance and speed: 14,400/sec(4hrs) times 186,000mph/sec(speed of light)=2,678,400,000 miles. I don't know the speed of the aircraft as it traveled through space, but I do know it was launched Sept. 5, 1977( The show I was watching is old, probably in the late 80's) I'll make a rounded guess; it was launched about 10 years ago from according to the show. That's a 10 year span. Here's the math for speed of the spacecraft: d/t=s 2,678,400,000m/87,400hrs(10years)=30,645… Now, that sounds ridiculous. The fastest jet today reaches top speed of about Mach 4.7(4,500mph). I've always been skeptical about space travel other than the satellites orbiting earth. There are too many factors involved: 1. How did they direct the spacecraft to reach Neptune at that amazing speed unscathed? Why didn't it collide with other bodies? Because of its orbit, Voyager would've come across Jupiter and its many moons a couple times over and most likely other interplanetary debris like the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. 2. Why did it not get pulled into Jupiter's gravitational pull? Any comet, straying in the Kirkwood Gaps, with velocities less than 60km/sec will get pulled in. (60km/sec=37.20m/sec whereas 3,600sec=1hr) (3,600sec times 37.20m=133,920.00mph) Voyager was only traveling at a speed supposedly far less. 3. According to Newtonian Law, "In the absence of force, a body either is at rest or in a straight line with constant speed." So, what slowed down and completely halted the spacecraft when it reached Neptune which actually was then orbiting the planet? "As speed increases so too does weight and mass" Do the math. 4. How do spacecrafts survive traveling through The Van Allen Belts? 5. Traveling at that amazing speed and distance the spacecraft would need a very large volume container to carry fuel. If no fuel was used and the gravitational pull from Jupiter was being used to propel the spacecraft what then kind of propulsion was used to boost the spacecraft out of earth's orbit and allow it to travel at such speed? The speed of the spacecraft is supposedly 30,645.3mphbdwolf, I have never taken Physics 101, so I can't retake it. As a matter of fact, I didn't even complete the 9th grade. These are just the thoughts I have after reading some articles. Thank you for your reply though.THANK YOU PEOPLE FOR YOUR ANSWERS. FORGIVE ME FOR MY IGNORANCE. I AM A HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT. LEFT IN THE 8TH GRADE. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SPACE TRAVEL AND LITTLE ABOUT PHYSICS. THESE WERE JUST MY AFTERTHOUGHTS. I'VE ONLY GATHERED FEW INFORMATION ABOUT PHYSICS FROM ARTICLES. YES I DO NEED TO STUDY MORE. more

Resolved Question: Do Morning Shows Have a Laugh Problem?

I've had to listen to different morning radio shows in the office I'm on temporary assignment in. They change the channels a lot because of the reception coming and going. It seems to me that ALL of the "laughter" on morning radio shows sounds horribly forced. The "sidekicks" laugh at anything and everything the "host" says, even if it's the weather report. Most of what they say isn't funny, but the "sidekicks" laugh all the same. Has anyone else noticed this? Are they trying to keep their job in this era of satellite radio or do they really think they have to laugh (like the old "laugh tracks" on television) to cue the listener? more

Voting Question: I'm looking for a song with the following lyrics:?

I have asked this question before but still cannot find out the name of the darn song! It's been driving me crazy now for 7 yrs. I heard it last at an IHOP in Atlanta about a year ago as strange as that sounds. It was playing over the intercom. Anyhow, the song lyrics sound similar to a Cher song but it is *NOT* the Cher song. It sounds kind of like Jewel or Sheryl Crow. Maybe a little Michelle Branch in there as well. Perhaps Fiona Apple. The song came on pop radio in early 2002. It could be older than that, I don't know, but it's at least that old. The lyrics go something like this: ......because you'll be lonely.......because it's going to be my way......... That's the chorus I believe. Any help will be greatly appreciated! I want to say it's folkish rock but I could be wrong. It plays often on Muzak and other satellite music providers at restaurants and diners. That kind of music. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: Interesting PC hardware available? Weather, Radio, etc.?

Hello. I am looking to expand my hobby horizons and buy some neat hardware for my computer. An old friend of mine once bought something that helped detect outside weather (be placed it out the window and wired it to the computer) and it picked up some basic weather information. I also heard of equipment that you can connect to a computer to pick up radio signals. I became inspired by this just recently when I ran across 'SkyGrabber' and bought a satellite dish and equipment to intercept satellite signals. In other words, just looking for similar neat things I can use my computer for... Thank you! more

Resolved Question: Questions about satellite radio. XM or Sirius?

I am looking to buy my husband satellite radio for his car for Xmas. I have never owned it before and I know NOTHING about it. I do not want to spend more than $200. Here are the details: He has an older car, therefore the receiver part would have to plug in to the lighter. He really likes sports radio and classic rock. I would like the receiver part to be portable (not sure if thats possible) so he can plug into our home stereo. My question is, is XM the way to go or Sirius, and is this possible for $200 or less? Also, would Best Buy be the best place to go? Thanks for ANY info on this.lol. See, I told you I knew nothing about it! I didn't even know it was the same company! more

Resolved Question: Is my mom delusional or what?

About three years ago my older brother passed away suddenly in his sleep. He was 23 years old. Then a year after that on Christmas eve, my father passed away from a heart attack. He was 49 years old. After that my mom got really into work. She would work 12 hour days as an assistant principal. Then a year later, she had a heart problem of her own. She was in the hospital for a few days. When she got out, she quit her job and took time off from work. Then she met this guy who she really feel for. The hooked up one night. He thought it was a one night thing, but my mom is really into him. She has become obsessed with him. She thinks he has people following her because he want to keep an eye out for her. One night, my sister called me and said that my mom left a note saying that someone was after her and was going to kill her. She then went to the church to pray. Ever since then she has been seeing signs. She got into a car accident one time because she was looking at the sign of a semi-truck. She sits at home and watching cars pass our house. She also thinks that people are listening to all of her conversations. She threw her cell phone in a forest people someone passed her on a bike. She has this think about the radio. The radio is broadcasting all of her information from her life. She feels that it is being transmitted through the satellites in space. We don't know what to do anymore because we can't take her to a hospital. They would evaluate her and she wouldn't tell them anything. And its not like she is a harm to herself or others. And she is not taking any drugs or drinking. She won't listen to us. She believes that we are out to get her. What should we do? And what is wrong with her? more

He doesn't like movies and I already got him a satellite radio system! Thanks in advance :) more

Resolved Question: How many of the communist party goals (from the congressional record 1963) do you see having been carried out?

Congressional Record–Appendix, pp. A34-A35 January 10, 1963 Current Communist Goals EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Thursday, January 10, 1963 Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America. At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen: [From "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen] CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS 1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war. 2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war. 3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength. 4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. 5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites. 6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination. 7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N. 8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N. 9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress. 10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N. 11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.) 12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party. 13. Do away with all loyalty oaths. 14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office. 15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. 16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights. 17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks. 18. Gain control of all student newspapers. 19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack. 20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. 21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. 22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.” 23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.” 24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press. 25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. 26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.” 27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.” 28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.” 29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. 30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.” 31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. 32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health cli33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus. 34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. 35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI. 36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. 37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business. 38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat]. 39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals. 40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. 41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. 42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspectslegitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems. 43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government. 44. Internationalize the Panama Canal. 45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike. more

Resolved Question: How do I optimize a wireless connection on windows vista? Are there different settings for different networks?

My home network with a basic belkin router works great. I am currently sitting at a table with people on Macs and PCs running Windows XP and their wireless internet connections to our university wireless network are working perfectly fine. I am running Vista on a Toshiba Satellite that is 3 months old. It says I have a strong connection and that I am connected to the internet but webpages load slowly, if at all. Disconnecting and reconnecting, disabling the radio, etc do not fix the problem.Changing the operating system or browser is not fixing my problem as again it works fine at home, and there are people around me running same and different operating systems and their computers are working fine more

Resolved Question: IPod - Your question needs to be at least 20 characters long.?

Reaching out here to the younger lads. I'm pretty much over the hill and always thought the iPod craze was a little dumb. When I want music I turn on the satellite radio in the car or put streaming music on the computer, and that was it. I had one given to me and I'm starting to fall in love with it. I have no music loaded on it but I'll put speeches, lectures, and books and it's great (like I said, I'm old). I want to know is there a way to customize folders in it. The darn thing is designed to house music and as such it has a tendency of clumping everything together. Like for example, if I have a book how can I put the chapters in iPod so that it doesn't start mixing with everything else? I figured by placing different authors (or as iPod recognizes, "artists") I can separate them but it's sorta gay. Is there a more user friendly customizable folder system that can be created within the menu? Any cool cheats or hacks for iPod? more

Resolved Question: Will Phoenix Gold RSdC102 sound good with .5 cubic feet per sub of Air Space?

I have a 2009 Ford F250 SD Crew Cab and I want to put a system in it. Unfortunately, finding boxes that fit behind my back seat is a pain. I found this one at: http://www.supercrewsound.com/commerce/product.jsp?prodId=364&catId=59 and I was wondering if it would work with these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18825_Phoenix+Gold+RSdC102+-RSdC+102-.html which will run off of this: http://www.woofersetc.com/p5722/RSD12001--Phoenix-Gold-1200-Watt-RSD-Class-D-Monoblock-Amplifier.htm I also want to replace my door speakers with these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13967_Infinity+Kappa+682.9cf.html And I was wondering if I should amp the door speakers? If so, what should I use? I am going to use my old Sony head unit, because I like the interface, but I don't think it is powerful enough. Should I get an equalizer or does it not matter? My head unit is this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+Xplod+52W+x+4+Apple%26%23174%3B+iPod%26%23174%3B/Satellite+Radio/HD+Radio-Ready+CD+Deck/9448421.p?id=1218135740151&skuId=9448421 I also have a Kenwood unit, but I don't think it's user friendly. If anybody wants to buy it from me, I'd probably get rid of it for $100.00. Here it is:http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18456_Kenwood+eXcelon+KDC-X993.html?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=froogle Any and all help would be appreciated and helpful. Resolved Question: Help with Dad Christmas gift - VERY hard to buy for - PLEASE HELP!!!!!!?

Good looking, 55 yr. old VP of construction firm. He has everything he needs or wants! He drinks beer (only) and smokes cigars but only a certain kind (gift baskets with various types are not an option - I've tried). He restored a car, but it's perfected and nothing I could know is needed. ('57 Bel Aire) He works with tools but owns every type - probably more than one, he's already told me that. He wears cologne, but can't smell! He's a freemason, but I've exhausted all gifts that relate He golfs, but has brand new clubs, bag, shoes, magazine subscr. He already stocks up on golf balls and tees. He has a brand new computer, and doesn't care for any other tech-related items. He buys new clothes all the time and hates my taste (he's a bit, um, unstylish) He's fun - but have jokingly bought him nerf guns, portable videogames and remote control cars in the past. No hunting or fishing or bowling. He loves food - but a "meat and potatoes" type of guy - one that already has Omaha steaks deliver all the time. No sweet tooth. Will not watch a movie twice, nor tv shows. He gets gift cards from clients all the time. No ties. Renovating the house - well, hired help is He gardens, but barely. Tomatoes and squash only, I think. Likes jewelry, but his taste is not affordable. Doesn't care for sports - goes to some NFL games, but not a true "fan" New wallet. His type of watches wouldn't suit my budget. He already has a stack of books he claims to be "getting a start on" Mom deals with decor. Nothing like that would be of interest. No work gear and he has a company car. GPS, cell phone and accessories are redundant. Travels so much for work, he doesn't care to go for pleasure. Travel items - luggage, travel pillows, etc. would never be used. He's practical. We have a huge inground pool. Mom buys the fun stuff, and other people come to clean. We have a game room - likes billards and darts - new balls, cues, chalk-holder even. Table was recently recovered and whole dartboard set-up is new. Has an outdoor firepit - had two, gave me one- He already have me his old patio furniture that was from this summer, he didn't like it. He has all the music he cares for, I've tried to buy him some and he either already had it or didn't care b /c he has satellite radio. Would not be caught dead at a concert. Does his own lawn, oddly enough. He has all the needs, like mower, leaf blower, weed eater, pesticides... ANY other ideas? In reality he's fun but honestly has all the necessities. Therefore, I need a unique gift that isn't generic - but must be practical too. He's not a fan of "gifting for the sake of gifting." Also, not religious.I think all of you have given me some great ideas! Not sure which I'll pick, but I'll def check out some of the websites you all recommended. He loves nice wallets, and his are always getting worn out. As for the classic car stuff, I just have no idea where to begin - he's not the type for "novelty" items like keychains and such, but maybe I could get out of him if he'd like a new gear stick or seat covers - his car is bad-a and I get it eventually! The utopia beer from Sam Adams is a great idea (I worked at a liquor store all through college and we had the really neat looking metal bottle) for the connoisseur, but my dad likes bud and bud only... Anyways, thanks for all the ideas - you have helped immensely! Still, any other novel ideas are still welcome !!! more

to see this fully updated go to worthyofpublishing.com and look up tmpee and read the story ty.... THE BEGINING It was a quit afternoon except the loud gunfire from a 50.cal being fired at sgt Michael and his men and then him yelling at them to keep down. “Sgt Michael what should we do to take out the 50.cal” Michaels second in command asked. Then a bullet shot past Michael and he dunked even lower. Suddenly one of his men put the gun over his head then fired at the gun making it fire at him then he dunked lower as well. Sgt Michael froze thinking for a moment then leaped up and said “stay down ill be back”. Then he ran down the street while the 50.cal fired at him barley missing him. He saw an ally and ran down it. He then ran towards the end of the ally then took a right down another ally then he reached a dead end. He saw a door and tried to open it but it was stuck so he lifted his foot and broke the door open. The room he broke into was old and dusty also full of boxes. He saw a door on the other side of the room and he went towards it. Then he realized that he can open it and be right in the 50.cals range of fire and it could take him out in less then a second. He thought for less then 5 seconds and said “I have to do this to save my men”. He broke the door open to see that he is right besides the building were the 50.cal was. The gun was on the second story and it was firing very loudly with an occasional bullet shell falling on the ground were he stood. He took out his frag grenade and through it through the window was were the gunner was and he jumped back into the room he was in and a second’s later boom the frag went off and there was silence he then went back outside and saw what was left of the gunners nest all that was there was a big hole with a black ring around it with small fires in the background and he heard the moan of one of the men he threw the frag at then he was quite. Michael turned around at his men and they cheered for him thankful that the gun was finely silenced. Then his next in command said “now what sir”. Michael said “lets go back to base are patrol is over I believe” and his men cheered. Then a clatter in the radio he held came and a voice said Michael come to base the president has an announcement. His second in commanded Leroy said “I wonder what he has to say” and they moved out towards the base they are stationed at. About 30 minuets later they reached the gate of the base camp to see that everyone was gathering at the jet hanger. He and his men went there as well to see everyone in the base even the civilians were even gathered inside to see the announcement. When everyone was gathered inside the coronial who was in charge turned on the projector the projected the VIA satellite signal form the US. A few seconds later the signal showed up and they see a lot of people gathered to see the announcement in the US. Then he president came to the stand were he will make his announcement and everyone there and here became quiet. The president spoke” recently we had the privilege of having a visitor here”. Everyone in the room looked at him couriersly with the occasional flash of a camera. He said “we found out that we are not alone in this universe”. Then everyone gasped and was begging for more and the soldiers at the base started to whisper silently then they quitted down wanting to hear the rest. “We found out were not alone cause are visitor is not of are world and he and his civilization offers to help us with are problems”. The people started to chatter a bit hen stopped. “They want to make are lives easier and better for us”. “They want to end are problems of global warming and are conflicts”. Then some people tried to ask some questions but they were quitted so they can hear him speak. “So that’s why we are going to pull out are troops of every known nation”. Some people cheered including the marines and army soldiers. Some people we nervous of this decision. “Then we will go on to are next step with are new friends help”. And then the he quitted and left the room with many people yelling out there questions for him all he did was smiled and waved goodbye. Then the coronial turned the projector off. The soldiers’ were talking with excited voices and they seemed very happy. The next day Michael saw everyone packing and getting ready to go. He saw Leroy getting ready and shaving. He went outside and saw that most of the stuff that they all put up was already half packed up ready to go back to the states. Most of the people were walking bye with excited faces so happy to go back to there loved ones. Resolved Question: Does HDMI work both ways?

Ok I'm not tech savvy, but I'm not a tech idiot either. We have a Sony Bravia 1080(i or p, I don't remember) and a Sony receiver/surround sound/DVD player/FM radio all in one. I recently purchased an HDMI cable to improve the quality when watching DVDs. We were using your basic old school RCA red/white/yellow cables. I have noticed that picture is incredibly improved and I have also noticed that sound quality is much better and operates at a much lower volume (used to have volume waaaay up to hear dialogue). Anyway, to the point. My Sony home theater system has the option to run surround sound from TV or Satellite/Cable input, but there are very few hookups in the back of the receiver. (One HDMI, ont optical audio, and the red/white video) Will the HDMI run audio from the TV or Cable box just from the one HDMI cable hooked up to the TV? If not, how can this be done?I also wanted to add that while there are several input "functions" in the receiver, there is no designation on the back as to where to plug in audio from TV or Satellite/Cable. That's why I was wondering if the one optical audio input would be for the Cable and the HDMI would "carry" the audio back from the TV? Not sure if that makes sense, but how else would it differentiate between TV audio and Cable audio?Robert W - There are no component hookups on the back of the receiver. Only AV or HDMI. Grumpy Mac - Is HDMI better than component for HDTV? The cable company supplied component cables for the cable to TV. No AV cables used for Cable TV. Another question too...would it be better to run audio from the TV itself or from the Cable box? Reason I ask is since I have a Wii and would like quality sound for that too. more

Resolved Question: Is the radio broadcast industry still alive and well?

I'm not a regular listener of talk radio but I respect the novelty of old-school AM/FM radio. With newer forms of media and technology such as the internet (including internet and satellite radio streams), television, ect., is the old-fashioned AM/FM broadcast radio still doing well? more

Resolved Question: XM radio for a 2007 Lexus IS 250?

I just purchased a used 07 Lexus IS 250 and thought that it had satellite radio since the dash has a SAT option and the car has a fin antenna, but unfortunately it does not. I went to Best Buy to try to buy the equipment needed and they told me I would have to buy it from the dealership and it would run me close to $700. Is this correct? Are there any other available options? I loved my satellite radio in my old car and am already missing it!! Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Satellite ready radios and installation?

I am looking at a Sony Satellite Ready radio to replace my older one in my truck. I want the Sony though instead of an XM or Sirius because it has the capability of also playing my iPod. But, can I activate my radio with either XM or Sirius or do I not have an option? Also, how much would it cost to install at Best Buy or a place like that? more

Resolved Question: What is the name of this movie?

I don't recall much about it, but I saw it on TV about seven years ago. At the time, my family didn't have cable or satellite, so it was either seen on Fox, ABC, or (unlikely) a local channel. That doesn't mean it was produced by either station, though. The storyline revolved around a son and a father. The father had died of lung cancer, but when he was alive he and his father had a strained relationship. One day, the son finds an old radio of his father's, and attempts to use it. The discovers a man on the other end, but the man claims to be his father, about twenty years into the past. The son doesn't believe the story at first, but when his father accidently burns a part of his desk and the burn mysteriously appears in the future with the son watching, they come to the realization that the radio can broadcast through time. After that, I don't remember very much of the storyline. The son tries to fix things, and insists that the father stop smoking so he won't get lung cancer. The son also tries to warn his father against a burglar/murderor that comes into their house, who (I think) kills the mother. The father prevents it, but the burglar/murderor goes to prison or gets away...can't remember which. Time passes through the movie, but this event eventually comes back to bite them, namely the son. The burglar/murderor, seeking revenge (From his time in prison, I believe) attempts to kill the son. The son is almost shot, but the father reappears in the future, aged but alive. He stopped smoking, and thus prevented his lung cancer, which enabled him to save his son in the future. The murderor/burglar is brought to justice, and the movie ends. Anyone know what the movie is? It looked like it was a TV movie, but I can't be sure...Addition: Thanks to those who answered my question. I've been googling and searching for this movie, so I finally gave up and asked via Yahoo. The plot is slightly different than I remembered, but I was about eight the one time I watched it... I would vote/decide for someone to have the best answer, but to the first I'm too low leveled and to the second I haven't figured out how. Sorry. : ( more

Resolved Question: Why do Black people do this when they hear music?

I have been wondering, why do Black people specially Black women go crazy when they hear a song by a Black artist? Have you notice? When you are at the store, mall whatever Black people are just talking or being loud and when they hear a song, they start singing and shaking. Anyways, I was at Wal Mart today and I don't know about your state but here In Maryland, they play satellite radio and they play popular songs. So while I was there, they were playing some rock and pop, then suddenly a song by a Black artist started playing and all the Black people dropped their stuff and started booty clapping. This old Black woman who was next to me was like 86 and she was shaking it like a 18 yo. more

Resolved Question: Should Congress shut down Ham Radio?

Ham radio operators are blocking "Internet over power lines". Everybody has electricity coming into their homes and internet service can ride in on those wires. however it will radiate a signal that will jam a particular band of frequencies that Ham Operators use. They claim that they are there for communication in case of a disaster when phone lines go down but come on. Their just a bunch of grown boys playing with radios. We now have satellite communications and more people use internet than do Armature Radio. Another Internet service would be good for competition with DSL, Wifi and dial up. You can listen to ham radio with a multi band portable radio and all they do is chitchat. It's ridiculous. They should pick up a phone. Tell your Congressman to shut it down. If nothing else the frequencies should be auctioned off like the old television frequencies will be. more

Resolved Question: Why can't the radio play different songs?

Why is there a set list for songs and bands that certain stations on the radio only play? I wouldn't dare to call up the local rock station and ask to put on Piebald (the greatest band ever), as they would for sure probably not even have their songs. Why can't the radio just ply different music. Why do they choose to play the same songs over again and again. Some people say that music in this modern age is bad, and naturally if all you hear is the radio then I would totally agree with you. People need to hear the good music from modern times and shouldn't have to go and purchase SIRIUS or satellite radio to get it. Whatever happened to the old days where apparently DJs would put on whatever they wanted and were praised for their good music selection. Somebody needs to help this fucking country and expose the good bands, i.e. the raconteurs (besides steady as she goes), say anything, ozma, spoon, we are scientists, cursive. If people knew all these bands then more people would understand what good music actually is. it's either poker face, rap, chili peppers, a little weezer, occassionally some smashing pumpkins and grunge rock thats on the radio now. not that i dont like weezer and chili peppers but lets spice it up and show the modern, good, OTHER music thats out there on the radio. more

Resolved Question: What do you think about this terrestrial Radio fee that is being discussed in the US?

I heard about it on the radio. Said something about Mid-West Family Broadcasting Group being mad about a fee they were going to have to pay. I hate Mid-West Family Broadcasting Group, so I'm pretty bias. Then today, my sister starts preaching the gospel on this radio fee. She tells me she is more smarter than I am, that she is more "in the know". I called her out and she threw a fit. I'm reading all this news. It seem like the radio had it coming. Every other broadcasting system already pays this fee. Strange indeed. Funny thing being, these broadcasting systems that already pay the fee (Internet, Cable & Satellite TV) are better than radio. Much better! I'm still not sure where I stand on this one. My sister ranted some downfall of society. She claimed that "they" were doing it to cripple local businesses, all the music radio stations would be forced to close down, we would be forced to listen to "talk radio propagandist", and the like. Which got me worried. I got mad at her for buying into the initial mind control tactic, that she had been hypnotized into spreading a kind of disillusion fear, that her sunglasses were sending her subliminal messages, and the unfiltered water wasn't exactly 'helping'. I honestly just don't get it. I read that this type of thing should have happened years and years ago. That it's a free market and if the artists own the rights to the song then the Radio should have to pay up. Considering that internet radio and the radio on your TV are a hundred times better, it seems like the old money in radio doesn't want to pay up. I don't know. WHAT SAY YOU?"her" and "you" are nouns.Oh, woops. She didn't say "more smarter" she put it into grammatically correct terms. Hence the lack of quotes. She did say "in the know".I made it bad grammar to express a certain disgust for the accusation. Someone gave you a thumbs up for being cheeky. I respect that. Seriously, someone answer my question... NOW!Instead of reading "Was that her who used the double superlative or you?" All I saw was "Was that her used the double superlative of you?" I read too fast sometimes. more

Resolved Question: Are there any other websites besides amazon and ebay that make selling random items easy?

I occasionally sell old books, textbooks, and common simple electronic items like TI calculators or home printers on amazon.com. Amazon makes it easy for an individual to post a product that they already sell under their "used" section. However, sometimes I get restricted with electronics like cell phone accessories, old laptops, satellite radios, and old GPS finders because amazon has a policy that does not allow individuals to sell electronics under their used section. I have a very high customer rating on amazon, but I only sell a few items here and there and do not wish to turn it into any sort of business. Any suggestions for where to easily post older electronics? Are there any other websites that use a similar format to amazon that don't have these restrictions for individuals besides ebay? more

Resolved Question: 13 year old author what do u think of my book?

im 13 soon 14 and since the beginning of the year ive been writing a book. please tell me what u think and if i should carry on? In a world were everyone had a power – a special power, you could imagine how much mayhem there could be. But there was one person, one boy inperticuler who had a power so strong he could rule the world, no the universe, but instead he used his power for good he was a super hero, well super boy. His power … well his power was amazing; out standing it was a one of a kind. He could shift shape. The only boy known to have this power was a boy named Scott. But got the nickname shifty. Scott was 15 and still had a lot to learn about life and as a typical 15 year old boy Scott was laid back and didn’t do much with his life but is was an important day for him tomorrow because it was time for his final lot of GCSE’s he had to sit. Thursday 16th May. Scott had his GCSE’s a tough day for him. His school had these special rooms that when in them your power was cut off and cancelled out by these special electric walls that send sonic impulses that can not be heard to the ear. So if the Children could not use there powers this help a lot encase of cheating. It was a long hard day but eventually it was over. Scott got stuck in the traffic jam – you know, when you’re walking out of school and everyone was to just get out, and it’s like a bundle through the door. Scott finally got to the entrance and took a run and jump and shifted into a hawk. Scott wasn’t a very popular kid but was well known for his power. When Scott reached home he got dressed and went on his Xbox 1263. This is the story of a boy named Scott and how his whole life changed in just one week. Scott’s parents, Tom – dad and Sue – mum also had powers. His mum worked as a traffic warden it just helped that her power made her job a lot easier, her power could make her grow extra body parts like arms and legs. His dad on the other hand was a police man but were now could police troopers. His power was simple, super speed. Later when Tom got bored he went to watch T.V. but for some reason he could get any signal. It was strange because he had satellite and was in a perfect range to receive radio waves and it had never happened before. But tom came up with another idea. To start shifting into things for fun. Meanwhile on the other side of the planet a villain named Flame was working on an evil machine that could control most people’s powers. Flame was a strange man. Not many people had ever seen him before. It’s said that Flame appeared on Earth through a Black hole and wouldn’t stop talking about a boy named Alex wheeler and a war. When Flame came through the black hole his armour he wore was all scratched and tattered, with paint coming of and dirt smeared all over it. People could see he was too much of a threat to put in a mental institution, so they dumped him in some wasteland in the middle of no were. Flame searched the waste land for anything, food, water, just something to keep him going, but instead he found something better, something he just needed. An abandoned lab. No one was there and you could see its been years maybe even 12 years or so. This was clear to the eye from the shattered windows and green gunk all over the walls. Flame went in for look and there were plenty of things to use. Enough for a crazy experiment. Flame worked and worked and about 5 years later he was nearly finished. Scott had never heard or seen Flame but had a lot to do with him. You see Flame was crazy but he was right about some stuff. Such as the war he thought (and lost) and this mysterious boy named Alex wheeler. 10 years ago, roughly, Flame came across a boy named Alex wheeler and did fight him. Alex was strong. Too strong. Alex destroyed Flame, or so he thought. Alex knew that he had to pay with his life to beat Flame because he was so strong. But when Flame came through that black hole Scott was there and Scott was struck by a strange silver line of almost lightning. But this silver line was actually what was left of Alex. When the remains of Alex hit Scott they made a connection. And since then Alex has been living in Scott, as his soul. Alex was a young boy too. Resolved Question: name to a rap song with biggie?

i was listening to shade 45 satellite radio and i heard a song with biggie in it. he was sampled for the chorus and there were like 6 verses. it seemed like a tribute from the other rappers on it. there was a female rapper too. they sounded recent and the song did not seem older than 5 years. could be brand new, theres a good chance. the title of the song was BIGGIE and the artist was NOTORIOUS BIG, but these are not accurate. i looked on shade 45 playlist and it wasnt there- the time is was playing was not listed and the songs after it were not there either. i know my clues suck but please tell me the title or at least the artists on the song if you can. much love@ first response: no, that is NOT the title, thats what it was listed as, but it was wrong. @ second response: wrong@ 4th: how in the hell am i being a dick? i just want the question answered. piss off if you cant meet my requirement more
