Ok I had Sirius service while back, but cancelled it year or so later. I since moved and when I unpacked my old receiver and hooked it up, I was still getting service so I shut my mouth and took advantage. Problem is, my receiver is old now and is failing me so I was wondering, if I get a new receiver do I have to set it up with Sirius again and jeopardize my free service or will it just switch service from the old unit to the new? I am looking to buy my husband satellite radio for his car for Xmas. I have never owned it before and I know NOTHING about it. I do not want to spend more than $200. Here are the details: He has an older car, therefore the receiver part would have to plug in to the lighter. He really likes sports radio and classic rock. I drive a 2003 Hyundai Elantra with a Kenwood in-dash stereo system. It is capable of playing wma/mp3 files from a USB drive, along with basic AM/FM radio and CD player. I don't want to change this device, but I want to listen to satellite radio programs in my car. It says "Sirius ready" and "HD ready" on it, but I'm not sure what that means. I'm not picky about the carrier of satellite radio, and it doesn't have to be *live* satellite radio -- I'm not opposed to downloading things from my computer at home onto my USB drive and listening to them later in the car, but I don't know if that's possible or convenient. Does anyone out there have experience with some products and/or services that they might be able to recommend that would fit well into my setup? I'd like to know what you think is the most cost-effective. One more thing, if it involves a portable receiver with an FM transmitter, that transmitter MUST be digital and I'd like to know that it works decently. I have a Chev. Colorado with factory XM radio. I want to replace it with an in-dash DVD that is Sirius SSP direct connection "ready". First, what is the nature of satellite receivers? A friend of mine back home had a xm radio or sirius radio reciever in his truck, and it did not have any annoying antenna wire. the only wire protruding from the receiver was the power wire that connects to the ciggarette lighter. The receiver had the suction cup to the front windshield and im guessing the antenna was located in the suction cup. Where or what model can I find this satellite radio receiver???? Resolved Question: Why did I suddenly stop getting a good Sirius signal after 2.5 yrs?

I have had my antenna in the same East facing window in Tempe, AZ for almost 3 years now. For the last few months I have had it cut out for hours on end with no satellite signal. I don't even move the antenna. Lately the last couple of weeks it cuts out completely at approximately the same time every day. It's always between 1:30pm and 2:00 pm and it doesn't come back at all for hours. I have been on the phone with Sirius over this many times. One time they told me it was my antenna that was broken. So I ordered a new one. Nope. Not it. I find it suspicious that it happens at exactly the same time every day. Anyone have any ideas? I just don't think it's my radio. I have no problem in my car with the receiver. I thought maybe it was because by that time of day the box and receiver were heated up. So yesterday I left it off all morning long and just before 2pm I put it in the box and turned it on. Same thing. No signal. As I said, there are no obstructions. My window is higher than any trees in the area and there are no buildings. This is Arizona and we don't have those problems here too much. It's not the receiver because it works in the car. It also works all day until this time. The antenna is a Sirius clamshell indoor antenna. I just bought it brand new and there are absolutely no frays in it. more

On saturday I purchased the Clarion SIRCL3, so I can get sirius satellite radio, but the damn keeps going in and out, saying that it is aquiring signal. It is almost unusable. I took it back to the installer, and he moved the attenna. By the time I got 2 blocks away from the shop, it cut in and out 8 times. I called the shop back, and they said that it was because I was in a tree line. Well, in California there is nothing but trees on the side of the roads. He told me to see how it works while on the freeway. I can't imagine that sirius is supposed to work like that, so I can't listen to it on the streets? I just have to use it on the freeway? that doesn't make any sense. He said that if it still doesn't work good, they will switch out the receiver. Is this normal?? more

I've had my Sirius radio for 3 years and all of a sudden I'm getting "Acquiring Signal" and "Antenna Not Detected" messages on the receiver. The radio will not work unless it's one of these constant messages. I took it back to where I originally had it installed (Circuit City) and they confirmed that the antenna was working and for me to buy a new receiver/dock (same style - sp-r1). I just purchased an Onkyo Receiver that is Sirius Satellite Ready. It has a spot for an antenna. I currently have a Sirius radio with a car dock and a home dock. Can I use the Satellite antenna from that radio? Or do I have to buy another antenna and add an additional subscription? I currently have one for me and one for my wife. more

I have a Sirius receiver and want to use my portable boombox at work to listen to Sirius . I bought the boombox made for Sirius but don't want to use it on construction sites .
