Direct Receiver Satellite Tv Used Questions asked

Resolved Question: How do I fix our new Aquos 42 inch LCD tv?

Our house recently got a new Sharp Aquos 42 inch LCD. (Model: LC-42D65U) and it's causing some problems with our Direct TV satellite receiver. If you use the satellite remote it will continue doing what ever button you press on the remote. For instance if you press "channel up" it'll continue to change the channels up until you turn off the satellite box. If you press 244 on the remote it'll do 22222222222222222. This only happens when the TV is turned on. So we've resorted to turning the TV off, changing the channel, then turning the TV back on. Also the buttons on the front panel of the satellite receiver box work just fine. We can change the channel with those buttons but you can only go up or down, and with over 1000 channels to choose from getting the one you want can take an eternity. So far we've tried using different cables, we've used both S-Video and component cables (the satellite box does not support HD), we've tried switching out the satellite receiver with one from another room (one that we know works) but the same problem persists. We've tried moving the satellite receiver box far away from the TV which sorta helped. Now the problem is intermittent and you never know if using the remote will cause it to "bug out." We've called tech support for both the TV and Satellite companies but both blame fault on the other and neither will fix it. We've ordered a new satellite receiver box (with the slim hope a new receiver box will solve the problem) but the earliest they can send it is a month from now. A lady from the Sharp tech support hot line told us she has Direct TV and uses the same model TV and also has this problem. She suggested moving the satellite receiver box away from the TV. I'm guessing more people have had this problem also. If you have had this problem, solved the problem, or think you know what is causing it please tell us. As I suspect, if no one knows a solution the best answer will go to the most helpful and informative poster. We tried using a different satellite receiver from a different room, which didn't solve the problem. (one we know works fine) When we did this we had to use the other remote, as each remote is programed to only work with it's receiver. Also we have changed the batteries on the remotes. Pretty safe to say nothing wrong there.  more

Resolved Question: Direct tv satellite pointing problems. 3 lnb dish.?

I've done it once or twice before but am having a problem with the 3 lnb receiver. I don't know if I have the wrong wire going into the house or what, but I can't get a signal. I had cable and got rid of it and trying to use the existing cables running through my house. Is it me or is the dish harder to point? Help me please! I can't miss any more football !!!  more

Resolved Question: Direct TV Dish Question?

I have Direct TV with HD at home using a 5lnb dish. I have an AU2-F1, triple LNB dish that I use occasionally with my motorhome when traveling. But when I tune to an HD channel, I get the "searching for satellite 771" error. Do I have to do something to the receiver to change from the 5 LNB to the 3 LNB dish? I'm using an H21 receiver. And I can get good signals on the 101, 110 and 119 satellites, just no Hi Def channels. Oh, by the way, yes, I am using the converter module which DTV supplies me. Thanks for any replies!  more

Resolved Question: How can I get local channels from my Satellite dish using an antennae?

Resolved Question: Is a cable company allowed to rebroadcast Direct TV programming?

My cable company obviously uses Direct TV to receive its signal (logos, banners, error messages all indicate this) and I'm wondering if it is legal to do so and if Direct TV offers options to rebroadcast signals without giving each subscriber a satellite receiver. It irks me that I have to pay more for fewer channels than Direct TV because of the direction my apartment faces.  more

Resolved Question: Can you carry a Dish Receiver like you can Direct TV?

My friend wants to carry a satellite dish with him to tail gate parties. I used to have Direct TV, but now I have Dish Network. Can Dish be carried? Also, with Dish, I have only one receiver for the entire house vs the two I had with Direct TV. This means if he takes it on the road, I have no TV. Also Dish requires a hard phone line connects which would be lost on the road. Anyone have any idea how to make this work during football season? We only have a week to figure this out for him. Thanks  more

Resolved Question: Connect MacBook to satellite HD DVR receiver & burn videos?

I will be getting Direct TV service in a few days and I'm also getting an HD DVR receiver. I found out it has 1 or 2 USB ports on the back. I've also seen DVD burners that connect to DVR's via USB ports and burn video from the hard drive in the DVR. Is it possible to connect my Direct TV HD DVR to my MacBook and do the same thing? This would be really cool because right now the only way I can transfer video from the hard drive on my Dish Network DVR to DVD is by using RCA jacks (analog). I'm pretty sure there's a way to do this... Any computer wizards please advise! Thanx!  more

Resolved Question: problems with picture on a vcr while its hooked to a onkyo receiver?

my customer is having problems with his vcr playback when its hooked up through the onkyo receiver model# TX-SR805. I tried 3 different A/V cables, another VCR,and I tried hooking it up to the AUX , DVD, and Sat port , they all did the same thing. What happens is the top of the picture gets a pinkish tint and the bottom gets a greenish tint. This only happens when he plays VHS tapes. We tried 10 different tapes and no difference. when I hook it direct to the tv it works fine, and when I use the satellite or dvd they both work fine through the onkyo. There is no s-video on either one of the vcrs so I cant try that. I checked the menu and owners manual of the onkyo but there is nothing that talks about this problem. Is there anyone who has run into this problem and if so please help Ive run out of ideas. thank you both VCRs work fine when hooked direct to the tv and it only happens when you play tapes but it does not do it if you run the satellite through the vcr or when you are in the menu of the vcr. No matter what port on the onkyo its hooked to it still has the problem.  more

Resolved Question: Did you know? (Direct TV related)?

Direct TV's moving policy states: Moving? No problem! You can even take the DIRECTV service with you if you move and unlike cable and other satellite providers, DIRECTV will move your service for free. DIRECTV distributes programming across the United States and will help you move your service for free. Just call DIRECTV and tell us when you're moving and where. Leave the satellite dish, take your receiver(s) and remote(s) to your new house and we'll meet you there with a new satellite dish and installation… hassle-free and FREE. Because DIRECTV broadcasts coast-to-coast, you'll be watching DIRECTV in your new home in no time! Notice it says FREE & hassle-FREE. That is not true! I just tried to use this option and Direct TV wanted to charge me $50.00 for the new installation and $69.00 for a new receiver because the old one is not working right. I can kinda understand the $69.00 fee for the new receiver but where the heck is the $50.00 fee coming from? Don't fall for it! I spoke with a supervisor named "John" and he offered a $39.00 credit on my first bill.. What? John, thats not good enough when the policy say FREE! Damn it! FREE means FREE! Not $50.00 and not a credit of $39.00 The bad part about it is they don't care that I just purchased Dish Network for a cheaper price than I could get them to re-intall my system... Can anyone elaborate? THE QUESTION IS: Can anyone elaborate or help me understand?  more

Resolved Question: Can an A/B switch be used backwards?

I have two Direct TV receivers on my boat but only 1 line coming in from Satellite. I do not want to drill another hole in boat so I tried a splitter. Did not work. My Idea would be to use an A/B switch to watch one or the other and control receiver at each location. Any ideas? Ok, now that I have that settled, is there a way to split the 1 signal from dish to both receivers and use simultaneously?  more

Resolved Question: Home Theater Set-Up Problem?

Optoma HD 70 projector Sony DreamSystem surround sound/5-disc DVD player Direct TV satellite receiver The DVD player connects to the projector with an HDMI plug. I am connecting my Direct TV satellite receiver to the surround sound receiver (tried coax, A/V plugs, S-Video) and nothing. I ran a separate connection from the surround sound receiver to the projector (non-HDMI >> A/V and S-Video) but still nothing. I also ran directly from the Direct TV satellite receiver to the projector bypassing the surround sound receiver and even still nothing. The satellite receiver is not working as I can't turn it off without unplugging it (power button on box and remote do nothing to the box itself). Once I get a new satellite receiver - any input on how to connect the satellite receiver to the surround sound? and what connection do I need to use between the surround sound and the projector? This is not an HD satellite box so I am guessing the HDMI plug will not work.  more

Resolved Question: Direct TV and Samsung LCD TV?

Hello, I recently setup my DirectTV Receiver to my LCD TV using the S-Video and Audio Cables (Red, White). Everything is working fine but I do I get true S-Video connectivity while the coaxial cable is plugged into ANT 1 In (Air) terminal on the back of the TV from the DirectTV Receiver "Out To TV"? If I am getting true S-Video connectivity while the coaxial cable is running from the back of the DriectTV Receiver (Out to TV) and into the back of the TV ANT 1 In Air please explain how? I tried unplugging the cable from the back of the TV (ANT 1 In (AIR) but I do not receive a signal even after running through the reconfiguration on the TV. The "Satellite In" cable on the back of the DirectTV receiver is obviously plugged in. The simple chart DirectTV user guide shows that the "Antenna In" connection, on the back of the TV and the "Out to TV" coaxial connection on the back of the DirecTV Receiver is not applied when using the S-Video connection and the Red, White Audio connection.
