Promotions are short lived., then you pay an arm and a leg for service that may or may not be there.and you are paying for old movies that are aired endlessly, even with On Demand. New movies should be on the Premium channels before they put them on Dvd. If you complain, you are given things, like an added service at their discretion, and come to find out when its time to pay the bill that you have to pay for it as an "upgrade". It was not .or ever was free.(for a brief period of time as they suggested_ The rates go up and then they have it so if you get the least expensive you barely have any service at all. Anything costing over 100.00 a month should work every time you try to use it. Trust me, that is not even the least I pay, but I feel that 100.00 a month is too much. And had you noticed that if you don't get a variety of things added, it does not lower your bill, it slightly raises it, along with a yearly increase that may apply.. The more you have the less you pay. If you downgrade, you get nothing for almost the same price. Someone please tell me that there is an alternative. One that doesn't cost a fortune.(and No, I won't convert Mormon) Satellite has its problems as well and it seems the only thing to do is download your own stuff or rent or buy what you want to watch. How does that work with local news and soaps and such? I can't believe how happy I was with a basic TV antenna. I had a state of the art television with all the local channels and we were entertained quite well with only the electric bill to worry about.. TV viewing was otherwise free. Next there will be a monopoly on the air we breathe. Oh that's right, No smoking...but its okay to pollute the air in other major ways....HELP (only valid suggestions need apply, thanks) Answer #1. Eww why didn't I think of that!! 2nd answer. Thanks for the sympathetic ear. Didn't mean to get carried away. I just got back from paying my bill....geeesh. That would put me back. I have like seven or eight cable jacks. I guess I'll have to actually start socializing..lol. moreResolved Question: Satellite vs. Cable TV? which is better in your opinion?
we were looking into Direct TV and someone said Time Warner cable is better. i would like to know about pricing (usually which one is cheaper??), quality, and service. also if anyone knows anything about Free To Air TV, let me know what you think about that. ive just heard of it for the first time today. thanks moreResolved Question: Which one of these Plasmas is the BEST?
I needed a few more opinions =] 1: KRP-500A (50-inch ‘HD Ready 1080p’ KURO with Digital Terrestrial and Satellite Tuner) http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/62/63/413/KRP-500A/specs.html AND 2: TH-58PZ750U (58" Class (58.0" Diagonal) 1080p Plasma HDTV with Pro-Setting & Studio Reference Modes, Anti-Reflective Coating, VIERA Link® HDAVI Control and Built-in SD Card Memory Slot) http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Televisions/VIERA-Plasma-HDTVs/model.TH-58PZ750U.S_11002_7000000000000005702#tabsection Since I'm not good at choosing TVs i need someone to go through all the specs in the links and give me the pros and cons of each tv, so that I may finally decide on which TV to buy. Also I'm sure that the Pioneer TV above is the best in the KURO line, with the exception of the 60". However I'm not sure about the Panasonic (I just chose the one that maxed my budget), so if there is another tv which is slightly better at roughly the same price, let me know. Sorry to be such a bother, and thanks =] moreResolved Question: is 1080p really necessary on a Tv?
is it THAT much of a difference? I was planning on hooking my ps3 up to a new tv that I might purchase. I want something at least 40 inches depending on the price maybe even bigger. and 1080p is a lot more in $ and also 120hz. I'm mainly using my tv to watch satellite, play ps3 and blu ray. So, should i spend the extra cash on 1080p? compared to 720 or 1080i also...plasma or lcd? its gonna be in a dark room so i hear ppl suggest plasma but i might be moving it into another room thats more well lit...and also do plasmas still have the burn in problem moreResolved Question: Is it really that difficult for cable/satellite TV companies to customize their packages?
All the cable companies have their service divided into separate packages. You sometimes need to buy 30 additional channels that you don't want just to get 2 or 3 that you do want. My guess is that they do this just to get you to purchase the premium package. Would it really be that difficult for these companies to offer you 30 channels of YOUR choice for a set price? moreResolved Question: Need help with a graphics card?
I have a Compaq Presario, Intel Pentium 4(3.06 Ghz, 2cpu's), 2 Gigs of Ram, running windows Xp home edition, I would like to be able to hook up my PS3 or Xbox 360 to my pc but don't have the graphics card for it, I would also like to be able to connect my satellite or cable to it and I need a DVI/HD output for my monitor and in case I decide to buy a HD TV. This will be my X-mas present to myself, don't really have a budget, I guess anywhere from $300 and less would be good but would like to know of the best cards that can do this with my PC if they are above that price range. Thanks in advance My motherboard has a PCI Express slot, just one though. moreResolved Question: DTV, antennas and barely picking up stations?
My grandma receives programming over the air via an outdoor antenna. She has a new digital TV with a built-in tuner (or whatever), so she doesn't need a converter box. However, I am concerned because she barely "picks-up" most the the stations - they have lots of static (she lives in the boonies). I've heard that with digital, you either get the full station or you don't. I'm afraid she won't be able to get anything. Other than switching to satellite (totally out of the price range!), what should she do? moreResolved Question: What all do I need to watch live tv from my computer?
I already have internet though comcast and I also have digital cable what else do I need to watch tv through windows vista. I heard there is a site that offers it for a one time price, but it is for satellite tv. moreResolved Question: Dish Satellite TV for Dish employees?

I wanna know what equipment line they get. like which model DVR/reciever and dish, do u get the standard free or do u get one of the higher model free or for a discounted price? u get the point of what im asking right so if any one out there knows give me the details, it would greatly be appreciated Thanks in Advance. moreResolved Question: Why can't I get BBC, itv, 4... in the USA?
I live in the usa, but many of my favorite shows have always been british: the original office, extras, big brother uk, gavin and stacey, i'm a celebrity, etc. I know many of these shows now play on BBC America or HBO, but why are the actual british channels not available on satellite tv in the USA? It seems, just like in any other free market, that if something is in demand there most certainly should be a supply (even if it's for exorbitantly high prices). Also, don't tell me to just download the shows. I want to be able to just flip on the tv and watch them live. I notice when i'm in the uk that i can get american channels on satallite, so why not vica versa? moreResolved Question: 7th grade math questions how do you do them?
Kate and April are making a string of bears for pi day The string already has 70 beads If there are only 30 more days until pi day and they want to string 1000 beads by then at least how many beads do they have to string each day? Satellite TV customers can either purchase a dish and receiver for 249$ or pay a 50$ fee and rent the equipment for 12$ A month. How much would it cost to rent the equipment for 9 months How many mouths would it take for the rental charges to be more than the purchase price? moreResolved Question: Obama's 30min AD?? BIG DEAL OR NOT?
What do you think about all the talk regarding Obama's 30min ad.? Me.. I think... he has the funds for it why not! Mccain is making such as big deal about it, because his campaign can not afford it, if he had the funds for this commercial/ad I honestly think he would do it! The tv station that aired Obama's commerical is legally bined, to air a commerical at the same time, for the same price to Mccain… but then again come the price factor…. So, anywhoo what do you think about his commercial. LoL.. I’m not America just have American satellite sooo.. our votes were already done Oct 14th, but really excited to see who is elected as the president of the United States for 2008, Nov 4th. Have looots of family in America! But honselty im not sure who im rooting to vote, it was always Obama but recently I’ve been researching, and reading a lot about Mccain, and also am feeling something towards him. American’s really have a tough choice! I’d say. moreVoting Question: What is the lowest price for direct tv satellite internet? ?

I have tried both Chorus and Sky but after a short while they both double their prices. What a con. Anyone know of a GOOD supplier? moreResolved Question: How has Bush made your life a living hell hole?
I keep seeing this on here and honestly I find it quite amusing. Did Bush somehow make gas prices go up? Did Bush somehow make you live beyond your means? Did Bush make you run your credit cards up? Did Bush make you go on that vacation you could not afford? Did Bush make you buy a house you could not afford? I would love to know how many people who have no health insurance took their kids on an expensive vacations, bought them a Wii, have satellite TV, the biggest TV, cars they can not afford, designer clothing, the nicest furniture, the most "toys", etc....... How has Bush made YOUR life more difficult? I sincerely appreciate your service! Please explain to me how this economic crisis is the fault of Bush? moreResolved Question: How can i watch Satellite TV programs like Sky on my pc? All the free sites are terrible?

If the price were exactly the same, which would you choose? Why? moreVoting Question: Mix and match computer speakers/subwoofer set?
I wanna make myself a good speaker system to use with computer, mp3 player, and dvd/ps3/tv. I'm interested in several models (Logitech Z-2300, M-Audio AV40, Creative GigaWorks T40, etc.) but all of them seem to have their problems...and trust me, I've researched long and hard many computer speaker sets, and I haven't found the perfect one for me (excellent mids and highs, excellent but not overpowering bass, multiple connectivity options with comp/mp3 player/tv, good price, good looks) . Is there any way that I can hook up a subwoofer to the AV40s or T40s, or replace the satellites on the Z-2300 with the AV40s or T40s? Or is there some better and more awesome setup that I haven't discovered? Oh yeah, and let's keep it under/around $200 :) moreResolved Question: Do you consider yourself middle class?
I can not find a job in my area for more than $12 per hour. or $25k annually with a bonus. I've been with this company for annual raises for almost 10 years now!!! With the cost of gas prices, oil changes, car insurance, new tires, inspections, rent, ultilities, health insurance, and food, etc. I have nothing to show from pay check to pay check. I sold my gas guzzling pick-up truck, shut off my cell phone, cancelled the satellite TV, I only buy food that is on- sale. Any more suggestions on how to save money in this struggling world??? moreResolved Question: How reliable is satellite TV in the mountains with snow?
I believe there would be no obstruction such as trees blocking the dish. But if the dish fills with snow and ice, do I have to climb on the roof and clean it out? The reason I am considering satellite is because my cable is unreliable and picture quality is inconsistent, price is high compared to the limited number of channels I get. Thx moreResolved Question: Do you think this was a rip-off?
I moved to a new apartment where they require me to build a pole inside a bucket filled with concrete if I want to install a satellite on my balcony. Well, I did that, and later, when the Direct TV installatlion guy came, he saw the pole and base I built and told me that it would be useless since the tube was a little over 2 inches thick and the dish wouldn't stay in place. Well, he convinced me to buy him a tripod, which, according to him, the retail price is $75 but he sold it to me for $40 installation and all included (was this too much for a tripod?) Well, after he installed the satelite on the tripod, I noticed that most of the channels I ordered were missing. Only the local channels were available. I told the installer and he said that he didn't deal with that. He said: "I don't deal with plans, I just install the dish and they do all the programming from the headquarters, but here's a 1-800 where you can call to fix the problem. The guy left and I stayed on the phone with a representative for 1 hour and still was unable to fix my programming. The lady on the phone finally gave up and told me she would send another installation guy to fix the problem. Can you install a Direct TV satellite on a 2 inch pole? Is it too much to pay $40 for a tripod? Was the installation guy supposed to call and fix my programming before leaving? See, this is the first time I order Direct TV (had cable before), so I didn't know what to expect. It turned out that the fool installed the wrong type of dish. According to the new installation guy they sent, I was supposed to have a dish with more than one head, or something like that, since I ordered some international channels. The first guy was supposed to know this, but still, he installed the wrong dish and left with $40 in his pocket. They will come back Wednesday with the right stuff. In the meantime, I'll be paying for channels I cannot watch. moreResolved Question: President interrupting tv shows?
Why all the time does this ass have to interrupt right when the price is right is gonna start...always! I can't stand this anymore, we should be able to chose whether we want to watch him or continue watching the regular program. I'm sure that would be fairly easy to do, especially with those who have satellite tv. Unless it's something SO dire, I don't want to hear anything he has to say. Anybody else bugged by this? moreResolved Question: What is the broadcast resolution of HDTV channels?
Please try not to confuse me anymore than I already am. Please don't tell me what you've heard...tell me what you KNOW. A link to corroborate your response would be very helpful. The price of 720p HDTVs have dramatically dropped and most DVDs are still in the regular format; whatever that is. I have no rationalization to purchase 1080p HDTV or Blu-Ray player or recorder of any kind. There aren’t that many DVD titles available in the Blu-Ray/HD format and if broadcast or cable or satellite TV isn’t broadcast in 1080p why spend the money now instead of waiting for a more prolific market of 1080p TV and Blu-Ray/HD DVD titles? moreResolved Question: If statements are true or false?
A satellite company has estimated the demand for its services to be given by the following function. In 2 = 9.83 - 1.2 in P + 2.5 in A + 1.6 in y - 1.5 in Po where 2 = monthly sales in units P = price of the service in $ A = promotional expenditure in 8000 y = average income of the market in 8000 Po = price of renting DVDs in $ The current monthly subscription price of celestial TV is $60, promotional expenditure is 120,000. Average income is 28,000, and the monthly subscription to a mail order DVD rental service is $45. Indicate whether the following statements are true or false giving an explanation A) If celestial TV increases its price this will reduce its revenues. B) DVD rental services are a substitute for satellite TV C) Peoples expenditure on the satellite TV service as a proportion of their income will increase when their income increases D) Celestial TVs sales are more affected by the price of renting DVDs than by the price of its own service. Thank you.. :) moreResolved Question: Will the TV cables work with this tv?
I'm a tad confused by techno-lingo and all these fancy names for cables. I'm going to buy a new HD ready tv with freeview: "Samsung 32" LE32R87BDX/XEU" because of the moderate price that goes to my price limit (£430 if anyone's counting- £270 cheaper than RRP). Also note I'm happy with it not being a "Full HD" It's still better than what I have. Anyways: I have an AV cable from the satellite (I'm assuming that's what it is (and please correct me if i'm wrong)), and I have no idea whether it'lll go into the tv. It's from thedownstairs satellite box (Sky + if that matters) and It is kinda important that the tv can use it. Pic of the type of satellitee cable I have (note it is just the one): http://elink1.gnt.ee/productimages/AV21302EA20.jpg The TV: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3342803/Samsung-32-LE32R87BDX-XEU-HD-Ready-Freeview-Widescreen-LCD-TV/Product.html (it says Composite AV.. but I have no idea whether that means it'll use the one cable or needs many.) Thanks for viewing.. and yeah 10 points if you can enlighten me on this. (Do answer even if someone else is right- I need backing on this!) Thanks everyone! moreResolved Question: Who is a Doctor Who fan?
I am a new Doctor Who fan but no longer get cable/satellite TV. Where can I get the current season's episodes? I don't care about prices, I want to get it as soon as it is out. Who has it first? And who here misses Rose? I sure do!!!!! Don't tell me anything about Season 4! I want to see it for myself! moreResolved Question: Toshiba Satellite P300D-10V. Your thoughts/suggestions?

I'm looking to buy a Dell XPS 420 to use as a media center, but am confused about the hardware spec as Dell don't provide much information. If you have an XPS could you please answer a few questions? 1) Dell offer 2 TV tuners, but one is three times the price. What's the difference? 2) Do either of the TV tuners support three cable input (Yellow/Red/white Video/Left/right Stereo)? I'd like to connect it to a set top box to record from cable or satellite TV, and to record from an older model video camera that doesn't have Firewire connectivity. 3) Apart from the price, what is the difference between the Radeon HD 3650 and the Radeon HD 2600 XT? 4) Do both of the above support twin monitors? Lastly, I'm probably going to be purchasing this using the Dell Europe website (don't ask), aside from the normal power issues, are there any differences between the US and the UK XPS 420. Do I loose out on anything, is anything different? I only ask as Dell Europe screwed their European customers on the Studio Hybrid. They charged them twice as much for the interchangeable shells, they didn't offer them a TV tuner, and they wouldn't let them install Blu-Ray as a standard option, only as an after market accessory which isn't covered by Dell's technical support. I've researched the system through Dell's website and I "could" call them, but I'd much rather know what real people think. I'm more likely to get an honest answer. moreResolved Question: What's the cheapest satellite TV provider?

(Please, I know that cable & satellite are options. I am sticking to free, public television right now, NO cable NO satellite, which is why I'm asking this question. Thanks for your understanding.) I have a 32" LCD HDTV which has both NTSC/ATSC tuners built inside it. I need to know which TV "rabbit ear" indoor antenna works best with it, the price, and where to buy it from a store (not an online store please). (Unfortunately, I'm not sure how close the TV towers are.) Thanks in advance! moreResolved Question: Alternatives to cable for television and internet?
I am moving into a new apartment and will have to pay for cable and internet. However, Time Warner charges $100 a month for both! That is soo much money. I'm wondering if anyone knows of alternatives to cable, and what the price is. I know for TV, there is Direct TV and Satellite TV. And I also know that Verizon offers internet with Fios. How much do these services cost per month, and are there any others? I don't even know if I can have a satellite at my apartment anyway... I said that I have Time Warner...obviously no Comcast in this area. moreResolved Question: Do you think it would be stupid to buy this projector?
http://www.projectorcentral.com/epson_powerlite_77c_multimedia_projector.htm I'm looking in to getting a rather cheap home theater setup. I found this projector for a reasonable price, but I know that is limited to the connectivity. I know that you can't hook up HDMI to it, but I don't have PS3, 360 or any kind of satellite tv. I would mainly be using it for dvd movies and wii games. Would it be worth paying an extra few hundred dollars for a projector that supports HDMI or just get the cheap Epson? I wouldn't need the HDMI for right now, but who knows what they are going to put out in the future. I want to make a good investment, and I've never owned a projector. It seems better than spending the same amount for a smaller sized plasma or lcd. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated! moreResolved Question: fuck COMCAST!!!!! THEY SUCK ASS!!!?

Have you given up any luxury items or perhaps planning on giving up items? Driving less, is obviously not included. I'm curious what areas people are giving up as well as what sectors of the economy could be hurt most. My list in no particular order (haven't given up yet, but will do so if needed): 1. Eating out 2. Cable/Satellite TV 3. High speed internet (use office when needed) What's your list? moreResolved Question: Satellite TV w/indoor Micro Dish. I need information and know nothing about such a venture?
I want to find out all that I can about the possibility of getting Satallite TV with a very small dish, that could be set up inside of an apartment, cheaply. I know zip (0) about such things, or even if it's possible. Where I live we are not allowed to connect anything outside of our building. My space is very limited. I am wired for cable, but dislike my local Cable Co. immensly. I'd like to get rid of my cable service if I could. We don't have free TV in my city, and the only way to get TV is to buy cable service, or limited viewing on the Internet. Our local Cable Co. is a monopoly here. It's Cable, or nothing. Is there any other option? If so, I'd appreciate the information. If there is such a thing as a tiny dish, and it could be obtained at a cheap price, and the wiring of it could be done easily, please let me know. My funds are limited, so price is an important issue. I'm told a dish needs to face the south, and I have a large window facing the south. Please help! moreResolved Question: Which satellite TV software do you use?

Which satellite tv software has cheap price, and more channels, good quality? moreResolved Question: Which is really better, Cable or Direct TV?
You always see the commercials on TV. for cable and for satellite, now this question is for those people that have had cable and satellite. Which one would you say is better on price, quality, service loss (when you lose some channels or they go pixely), along with local channels, and HD service. I want to change my service, but I want to get the best bang for my buck. Which one would you say is the best between the two. Keep in mind that I also have DSL though our cable company so I would like to find out if they provide that also. I only want answers from those who have had BOTH cable and satellite. moreVoting Question: Does it make any difference what kind of router I buy?
I am having satellite internet service installed this week through Dishnetwork. We have two computers in the house, and I understand we will require a router for the second computer to access the internet from the receiver. Does it matter what kind of router I buy? I know they vary greatly in price, but is that the only difference? My other concern is how are they going to install the dish? The dish for my tv is located on my roof, but they usually install them on a post on the ground. Seeing as it is winter here in Michigan, the ground is frozen and the snow is deep, how are they going to install the dish? Will they just install it next to the other on my roof? When I spoke to Dish, they weren't really sure, but said they really don't install on the home anymore if possible. Anyone know how they'll get it done? Thanks! moreResolved Question: looking for suggestions of best broadband, mobile phone satellite tv and home calls?
