Open Question: why can't I receive email from a known safe sender?

I have the metadata from the sender, the email is being rejected at the server level by Yahoo with a "554 554 Message notallowed -[320] (state 18)" for 5 days now. I have not blocked sender, flagged as spam or anything of the sort. Yahoo's stock answer of update 3rd party programs on my computer, clear browser cache and the like are not satisfactory when the problem is clearly on Yahoo's mail server, not a 3rd party program or a specific end-user computer. Resolved Question: Problems deleting contacts in Windows Live Messenger?

This is not as easey as the question appears. I was trying to delete contacts in my "allow" and "blocked" list. Most of the time it works . I right click and choose delete. Sometimes I had to choose delete on my keyboard because the option of delete was greyed out or not availabe. however, there are some contacts I just can't delete period. I try to right click and the option is greyed out and I try to hit my delete button my keyboard and that doesn't work either. I also wanted to delete all the addresses under the "view who added me". The reason I am trying to delete like crazy is either a person or program has been logging into my hotmail account and sending weird spam mail to all my contacts. Some of the contacts I have deleted from my address book years ago - so I don't know where it is finding all these old addresses. Hence, why I went to search for every email address. I've been deleting from my "allow" and "blocked" list. I've deleted most of my address book and old emails. I have also changed my password. Please help me. Thanks more

I haven't received emails for about a week. The other day I noticed I had about a dozen spam messages apparently sent from my email. When I click NEW, the compose window comes up with a pre-typed message already in the window from some bad-spelling African asking for money. When I clear the message and type in test. It doesn't hit my other in-box (apparently that spam filter is working), but when I double check the Sent folder, the From box shows the alledged sender's name as the originator. I went into the Options box and changed that back to my name, but still have that pre-composed message and my email is still not getting to me. Any thoughts? I had a troubling thing happen with my email a few years ago. A person who I thought was a friend (well, an adult I looked up to from the time I was 11 years old and with whom I shared an important moment in my life some 14 years ago) heartlessly, without any indication as to why, blocked me from sending any more emails to her. She had moved away 14 years ago and I had only seen her periodically since then, but every time I saw her she seemed happy to see me, so I had no indication anything was wrong. She had given me her email address after she had moved, so periodically, maybe 1 or 2 times every couple of months, I would send short emails just updating her on events in my life, and always asked how she was. However, she never, not once, responded to my emails. I didn't think too much of it, and thought she was probably just too busy. The last time I sent a message was after my wedding, and I sent (admittedly quite a few) photograph scans as attachments in an email. I was going to send another email with attachments, but when I tried to send that email, it came back and said that I was blocked. The message from AOL (her provider) said that it had received "numerous complaints" from the recipient (she was the only person on my email list who used AOL), and as to the "nature of these complaints," to click on the link provided (I was too scared to see this, so I didn't click on it). Hurt by this whole thing, I canceled my email account and haven't heard from this person in any way, shape or form since (and it's been 3 years ago now). Now, I was reading how AOL in particular blocked who they felt were spammers, and I began to wonder if maybe AOL had done this, rather than my recipient herself. I've been too afraid to try and contact this person since this happened..but is it feasible that my emails with lots of attachments were interpreted by AOL as spam and that is what blocked me, or would the individual person more likely be the one who blocked me? I guess I'll probably never know without asking her directly. I know she is on Facebook but I am reluctant to contact her in light of all of this. If I haven't had any contact for three years, I most likely probably have my answer, even though I am still hurt by it. I'm hardly a stalker but since I continued to send emails with no response I wonder if they were considered unsolicited... Any thoughts?Thanks so far for the comments: As to my email server blocking her messages, she never replied to any of my emails, so there is no record of her sending me message; I was always the initiator. Yet when I would see her in person now and then, she was always very friendly to me. Also: could my having sent her large attachments with lots of scanned photos in them cause her to block me? okay so there is this guy on Yahoo!Answers (his username is john kane, and his IM is Hury Sin). I chatted with him one night and he took it way to seriously. i wasnt really even flirting with him or anything. He claims hes from India and i am from the US. Here is my situation : Today I opened my yahoo email , an address I have had for over 8 years BUT I do NOT use that often. I checked the " spam " box , because occassionaly a piece of mail gets sent to the spam box when it is not meant to be there. I see a spam message , no biggie . Except this particular message says it's from " some offical site " and it is using MY email address as the return address. Another words I am getting spammed by my own email address. I tried to use yahoo's abuse form. I got the page filled everything headers, extra information and then when I clicked submitt it kept refreshing and not sending my complaint. The same with yahoo answers. So I switched to a different id ( this one ) and low and behold I am able to get on all sites that was causing me problems ( why? ) I have a feeling whoever is doing this , somehow is stopping me from sending my complaint with my own email address. If this keeps up and this bot or person is using my email address that I've had for over 8 years to spam people ( including myself ) isn't there a chance yahoo will take my address away? Is there a way to stop this freak? I have the headers and the ip address it is sent from , How can I turn it in to stop this freak? And how is it I am blocked from using my id that is spamming myself , from asking a question on Yahoo answers and from sending a form to yahoo abuse but I am able to log into my mail and I am able to do all other things on yahoo except these things that might stop this freak from harassing me further? I believe it is a lover scorned and has been rejected and is using yahoo to seek vengence. I do NOT want change anything else or lose anything else because this guy can't move on .1. I have deleted all my spam and blocked addresses (what a nightmare) you all have been very nice to respond but nothing has helped. I have my name in my contacts I took it out and then put it in again. I don't want to get another email address as this one I have had for years and my son gave it to me when he was young. Ok, ive never seen nor heard this before. In my yahoo ''send folder'' there is an email which was send to one of my friend. But i didnt send it. Probably some sort of hacker send it, i dont know how. everytime i log in i have differant emails from poeple i dont know i think they are like spam that are trying to get my info from my bank account. they are in my inbox before there was a way to block them and report them from your email account but now its not there. so i was wondering how i go about reporting it so if they send them to someone else they dont get scammed. i know not to respond but i want them to stop. please email me back with my answers. my email is meganjazzie2005@yahoo.co.uk more

I mean I knwo they can send you more spam, but you can just delete it, and if they have your IP address do they try to send spam via smtp? And what if you have smtp blocked? and You don't use outlook? so other than annoyance, what else could happen? more

Resolved Question: Why can't Yahoo block emails you mark as spam?

I get an email from Company X, it's spam so i mark it as such-it goes in the spam folder where it stays until Yahoo (or I) delete it. So why can't they just bounce it back to the sender? The technology exists to bounce an email if someone's email box is full, or if your email contains certain 'rude' words. Not that it seems to stop Viagra type ads. So do they make money from advertisers off the amount of emails sent and received so blocking emails would actually cost them money? more
